What has everyone been up to?
Crystalina wrote: I think I've only popped in here a couple times in the last few weeks. I never thought I'd be saying that! I see a lot of you on FB but for those of you that aren't on there.... I've been selling my cocoon and hats on Etsy and I'm doing better then I thought I would. What little social life I had seems to have grinded to a halt since opening up the shop. Every spare second is spent knitting or crotcheting. I feel like a granny! I had to shut the shop down last Thurs. because I have more orders then time to make them and I just felt it was getting too much so I put everything on hold until I can see the light at the end (which should be tomorrow!!). Thank goodness!
Izabella has spring fever big time. Today she had a field trip to visit her new school (the schools here only hold 3 grades at a time) and meet her new teachers for next year. Wow! 3rd grade already!!!
Even though Evan is not in school he is also ready for school to end so Izabella will be home with him all the time. He's so bored! I have to think of something for them to do over the summer because I'm not ready for a summer of piddling around the house!
Gabriella is 6mos already. I can't believe it. She's so quiet...unless she gets hungry. She will go from happy baby to demon baby in the blink of an eye. There is no leading up to the crankiness. It just shows up like NOW. Those moments are few and far between though but when it happens watch out!! She now pulls herself around in circles when she's on her tummy. It wont be long now before she realized she can use those legs. Her favorite toys in the world are empty wipey boxes and the empty bags that the travel wipey and refills come in. YES, I KNOW they are plastic bags but I watch her very close and she cannot tear them or put them over her head. I tried to tear them before giving her one and you can't do it. You have to use scissors so I feel confident that she can't do it. She loves the crinkle noise it makes.
So that's it. Anyone else want to share an update? Or is everyone else planning their summer trips already?
moped replied: It is the long weekend here and I also took Tuesday off, so I have been spring cleaning and de junking around here, feels good to get it all clean........took the kids to a big amusement park here yesterday for a while, baking banana bread and now it is snowing, yesterday I got a sunburn and now there is snow , hope to do some shopping today if the weather improves this afternoon.........working on my mom and dads 50th anniversary photobook, which takes so much time!
stella6979 replied: Been cleaning here too. Jeff is leaving for the Army on Wednesday so we had lots of stuff to go through and get rid off. The garage is finally cleared out and it feels sooo great to have it done. Aside from that we've been keeping busy with lots of fun activities. Dinners out, camping in the living room, carnivals, Tigers game....
boyohboyohboy replied: I have been trying to pop on here on my times off work to unwind.. I have started my floor work now, and have 7 more days left of orientation until I return to the world of part time work.. I have been working full time
Calimama replied: Not too much. I'm dreading summer school but still going to go. I signed bells up for swimming lessons, an art class, tumbling, and something I'm forgetting, for the summer so it's going to be a little crazy. Oh well it'll make the summer go by quickly and get us 1 step closer to seeing my husband! Besides all that we'll be at the beach. I'm hoping she'll pick up skim boarding this year to work on her balance for surfing!
msoulz replied: Shelly, this must be a difficult time for you.
We are in baseball season with my son so that takes up lots of time but it sure is fun. Otherwise, same ol' stuff.
coasterqueen replied: Nothing much going on here - no more crazy than it always is. Girls finish up swimming lessons in 2 weeks. They are still in gymnastics and getting ready for the summer gymnastic classes. Kylie doesn't start baseball until late summer. Megan wants to do karate so I will take her for a pre-class this summer. We have a camping trip planned in a few weeks here - hoping the weather gets warmer soon or it will be chilly! Ryan is still working on our bathroom - actually laying tile now and hope to be done with that part this coming weekend. Kylie has 1 more week and one day of school left - Megan is already done. I'm looking forward to that so we don't have to rush around so much in the morning. Session is over for me (hopefully) in two weeks and then I get to start my every friday half day off.
my2monkeyboys replied: We're about the same as everyone else... just busy! We have 9 days left of school this year, and then we'll take probably 6 weeks off for summer. My Dh's business has been at almost a stand-still, so we're a little stressed, but hoping things will either pick up very soon or he can find something else to do until it does. Will is in his 4th month of karate and still enjoys it (surprise to me!) so that'll give him a little something to carry through the summer. Plus we have my dad and nephew to hang with as well as a good friend of mine who is a teacher and she has 2 kids that Will loves to play with. He'll be in 2nd grade next year! Waylon is growing too fast - scooting around on the floor but still like Gabriella in that he hasn't figured out what knees are for yet! That'll all come soon enough though.
Time is going to fast... I really need it to slow down just a bit as I feel like I'm missing things... that life is happening so quickly and I know it's just a breath away when my boys will be leaving home.
youngmomofone replied: Helped dh get all his gear together to turn in today. He cleared so we didn't owe them any gear/money. His last day in the Army is Thursday, and we move next Thursday. Going to start getting ready to move which is cleaning the carpet, organizing the pantry, cleaning out the closets, etc so the packers can have it easier when they come to pack our house.
Dh decided to sign up for reserves and will get his orders tomorrow about where to report and all that good stuff. He is going to be in it for two years and got a small bonus for it. We get to keep our insurance for the next 3 years at least so I'm very happy about that.
my2monkeyboys replied: I bet you'll be glad to have his home more and not going off all over the world, huh?
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley and I camped out with girl scouts over the weekend. She's finishing up her dance class... her recital is June 6th, and then the lemonade stand is June 12th, and we are doing another fundraiser on June 20th. She's also signed up for VBS, swimming lessons, summer camp at the children's museum, and a summer enrichment program at the local university. None of the camps are overnight -- just a few hours a day, so we will still have plenty of time to just go swimming or hang out with friends.
My2Beauties replied: Hanna is in gymnastics 2 days a week now and really loves it, she is learning so much. Dh is still laid-off we're hoping that he'll get called back in July when the FRA puts their new rules and guidelines in place, they will need more men once the rules are put in place. Fingers are staying crossed on that one. Aubrey is getting so big and so smart. She's speaking in sentences now, they're broken sentences but they are sentences. We haven't pushed Potty training yet, she has went potty a couple of times but I think they were all just flukes, I don't think she's quite ready but I'm going to try some more this summer. The tooth I had fixed (wisdom tooth), well the filling came out not even 2 weeks later so it's killing me, we lost our insurance April 30th so I'm sorta screwed right now. I'm so miserable I'm about to go to the Dental School and have them pull it at a lower cost. Scary though! I'm in the middle of fighting our public school system over what school Hanna will go to this Fall. They are trying to send her to one of the worst schools in our district and I'm not having it. I've filed for a hardship transfer but I'm still awaiting the results of that. Going to call and check on it today. I'm so livid, this school is far from us too and it's got horrible scores. I'll be darned if my child goes there.
youngmomofone replied: oh yeah definitely! They are saying that he will not deploy while he's in reserves, but we will see about that. Hopefully if he does, it won't be 13 months again.
