What does everyone do - Stay@home or work outside of the home
TANNER'S MOM wrote: I work outside the home in a truck brokerage. I am the Executive Assistant.
But I really wish I was a stay at home mom!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I am a SAHM. I worked in the medical field before having children.
MommyToAshley replied: DH and I run our own business, but we have a home office. We do web design, however the core of our business is database development, custom programming, and custom applications.
I love being home with Ashley, but it sure is challenging to balance work and spending time with her.
coasterqueen replied: Well I would give everything to stay at home..but I'm not that fortunate so I work out of the home as a Business Manager for a non-profit p&c insurance association. Probably one of the most unethical things to do (not my job per se) but that I work for someone who lobbies for big insurance companies which in turn beats down the peons like us...so essentially I'm getting paid by the very same people who ream me for premiums. But how can you say NO to great pay, EXCELLENT benefits and so much leniency it's not funny, hee hee. I know that's so very sad of me.
mummy2girls replied: Im a work out of the home mom. I work with disabled kids. I love my job. i am going to go back to school next year and work to towards being a kindergarten teacher!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I work out side the home I am licensed in Propert & Casulty...hence I sell insurance (auto & home)
but I would love to stay at home while she is young
Lollie replied: Hi.....
Im a SAHM but I do go in twice a week for counselling training which will help me when I do my psychology honours in the future....
favre4fan replied: I am an administrative assistant for Keybank, some of you in the north may have heard of Keybank. Our office in dallas deals with multifamily loans. I don't LOVE my job so I am going to school to teach preschool.
Boys r us replied: I work for Wachovia bank as a financial advisor. I have a love hate relationship with it. But it is my sanity...I don't have being a SAHM in my genetic makeup, unfortunately..although I'm jealous of the moms who have the tolerance and patience to be able to do it!
I am also a real estate agent, I just fiddle in it on the side. My goal is to get enough time as a sales person under my belt so that I can become a broker and open my own firm.
gr33n3y3z replied: I work at our towns school in the cafeteria, I'm an Assistant to our Chef Plus Katie goes to school there And I work for the family buss. when the mood strikes me and I also work at a creative contemporary cuisine restaurant in the summer when they need me. And I work for 2 police departments that is involved with The Domestic Violence Response Team and I also work with the county Sexual Assult Response Team. That about sums it all up for me.
FroggyJK replied: I am lucky enough to be a SAHM.
Before kids, I was a receptionist for a property management corp.
When my kids start school, I think I would like to go to school for something but not sure what yet.
Sunflower04 replied: I am a administrative assistant for AXA Equitable. I work for great guys... but my life is a big rerun though.
mama3x replied: I am a SAHM this time around out of necessity. It would cost more than a salary to have gotten a Certified Nurse or Therapist to care for DD only. I chose to stay home and do the necessary therapy...plus I couldn't imagine having someone seeing all of her firsts after she'd been in the NICU for so long.
I will remain a SAHM with this little one due in Jan. but truly, for me, being a SAHM is NOT a natural thing. I actually hate it.
The best thing was with my DS, where I stayed home for 3 months then worked p/t after that. That way I felt like a regular person with contact in and out of the home.
edit: Oh I forgot - I have my BA in Psychology and specialized in Early Childhood Development, mostly in the drug addiction field. Worked at a residential drug treatment center for women and their children as well as the men's prison.
My2Beauties replied: I work outside the home unfortunately! How I wish I could be a SAHM or work in my home. I work in Human Resources for Humana Inc, some of you may have Humana Health Insurance! It's more prominent in the South!
ediep replied: I am a SAHM right now, but before J I was a teacher
3xsthefun replied: I am a SAHM
jdkjd replied: Attorney/public relations coordinator for The Florida Bar
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I am a SAHM and will probably remain that way until Jade is school age.
ctymom replied: I'm a SAHM The cost of daycare ate up my paycheck and I realized I was working to pay someone else to take care of my kids and that just didnt make sense. lol
My DH and I are trying to get a hosting and design company up and running which has been super hard with our little girl who LOVES attention ALL the time.

mrshires replied: I work in P&C also, but customer service end. I'm going to go for the 220 once I have the 440 for a year, unless placenta brain kicks in too much (that'll be april, due in july)
I don't have the genetic makeup to SAH either. If any of you have seen Mad About You when Jamie loses her job and stays at home to go to school for a while? That's me. She rearranged the house the first day and did all sorts of stuff
But I can't seem to do that with just one day off. Oh well.
Amanda
kimberley replied: i stay at home but work some saturday nights bartending.
MomofJandB replied: I'm a SAHM. I was a 2nd grade teacher before having kids and am now starting to substitute a couple days here and there. Next year when both kids are in school full time, I will probably sign up to sub full time. That way I will be on their schedule and won't have to worry about their free days and child care. I can always say no, too, if one of the kids are sick. Plus it's like a part time job. That gives me some time to get things done. I actually look forward to doing something productive other than cooking and cleaning!
kit_kats_mom replied: I loved that show
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I'm a stay at home mom! But I plan to go back to work once Claudia starts school.
kit_kats_mom replied: Well, before babies, I was in lending and collections.
I received my BS in Library and Information Science, via online classes at Florida State University, about a month before Katherine was born. That degree is similar to an MIS degree but without the programming and math.
After she was born, I tried to get my old collections job to let me telecommute but they wouldn't let me. Worked out OK since I hated it there anyway. LOL
I lucked out in finding a job that allows me to WAH and it is part time for most of the year. This is my busy time so I'm working 60-80 hours for the next month or so but then it will slow down again. The best part is that I was able to stay home with Katherine (and I'll be able to with Lauren as well) until she started walking and getting in my hair...so for the better part of a year. That made my decision to breastfeed pretty easy to maintain and I feel that it helped in our attachment. I started her in part time daycare when she turned one and she loves it. I think it worked out great and hopefully we can do the same thing with Lauren.
ITA with some of the other moms though. I am not cut out to be a full time SAHM. I can pull off 4 days a week (two of those days being weekends when DH is home too) but I seriously think that Katherine would be a TV baby if I was forced to be home with her full time. Plus, I lack the gumption to leave the house every day so her social skills would also suffer. LOL
maestra replied: I am a full time kindergarten teacher. I agree with some of the others- I think I would be a terrible sahm.
loveydad replied: Oh i've been to busy to reply to these. i'm viggo, i'm from a really small town in Idaho.
I stay at home probably 4/5ths of the normal work week. I take care of the kids while my gf runs her daycare in the valley and in California. She travels a lot. I paint murals and kind of generally design and create nurseries, kids rooms, and playrooms. While i'm doing that the kids are at school, with Hen, or at daycare.

redchief replied: I work outside the home and at home.
MomToMany replied: I stay at home, but put together cables for the company my DH works for. It's hard to explain, but it's easy, time-consuming, and the money is good. I wish I didn't have to do them, but there's no way we could manage on just DH's income, and 5 kids in daycare is pointless.
Jamison'smama replied: I am a SAHM during the day but work in the evenings doing family counseling. I get to keep my sanity and my foot in the working-world while staying home with my daughter and avoiding the cost of daycare.
Josie83 replied: I'm sort of half and half! My boyfriend and I both go to drama school, but we don't have to be in all day every day (especially Jason, whose in his final year ) so we pretty much share care as Cassie. I wuldn't say I'm a stay at home, though, because I do have to be out at school most days. I wish i could just stay at home with her all the time, I did when she was really little but then decided to go back to school! xx
TeagansMom609 replied: Im a legal secretary.
~KARA~ replied: Im a stay at home mommy! My dh works about 80 hours a week and wants me to be here with the girls since he works so much.
A&A'smommy replied: I'm a SAHM and I love it, We couldn't afford for me to work if I wanted to lol but it doesn't matter I like being home with our princess!
alice&arik replied: I work outside home. I am a Blended Worker- aka Nursing Assistant. Our new nursing home decided on that name for us. I work in the kitchen part of the unit, I cook breakfast and lunch. Plus in between I help on the floor with the residents. There are only 20 in our neighborhood so it isn't so bad. The only bad part is the pay. I have been doing this for 7 1/2 years and have slowly moved up. We are so underpaid it isn't funny. But it is like they say, the less you have to do the more $$ you make. CNA's do a lot of hard labor- lifting all the time, you think someone would respect that and give us more. But I DO love working with the elderly, they can be so funny and sweet. (Most of the time) But I do plan on going back to school for my LPN then RN. I would like to specialize in Alzeihmer's Disease and Dimentia...sorry I can't spell. But it fasinates me.
