What do you think of these ideas?

MommyToAshley wrote: Here is what I have planned for Ashley's surprise Polly Pocket 9th Birthday Party

I have blown up a Polly Pocker picture to make a poster size print. When everyone arrives, I will ask everyone to sign the poster and write any birthday wishes if they want. (Ashley can hang in her room later) I will have some paper and markers out so they can make a surprise sign if they want or they can just color Polly pictures while we wait for Ashely to arrive. I plan for Ashley to arrive about 5-10 minutes after everyone gets there.

After we jump out and yell surprise, we'll head to the "Polly Pocket Salon", where the girls can make their own glitter body lotion.

Then, I found these super easy tye-dye picture frame kits, so the girls can make their own pictures frames. I will have a photo op set-up. I got a retro car shaped stand super cheap (yea!) and I am hoping to find a tye dye or cute flower sheet to hang as the backdrop. I'll take each girl's picture in the car and print it and they can take the picture inside the frame and the body lotion home in their goodie bags.

Then, we'll eat... probably pizza as it is super easy.

Games planned:

We'll head over to the "Polly Pocket Mall" where I will have a bunch of retro clothing. We'll play a dress-up relay type game.

Next stop is "Club Groove" where we'll have dance music playing. I am going to try to section off part of the room by covering the walls, hanging some christmas lights, and I also have a disco ball we can use. I am thinking we'll do a couple fun dance games: freeze dance, follow the leader's dance moves, limbo, etc to get the girls involved that might be too shy to dance (Ashley is not one that will be shy). We'll do the cha cha slide, chicken dance, etc. Then, if the girls seem into it, they can just dance, sing, or whatever.

Then, ending with Cake and ice cream.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Too much, too little?

Sounds like they'll have an amazing time!

My3LilMonkeys replied: Sounds like a great party to me!!! My only suggestion would be to allow for at least 15 minutes between the time the guests are supposed to arrive and when Ashley will get there - someone's always late and you don't want that to ruin the surprise. biggrin.gif

MommyToAshley replied: It went great, but I am worn out. Ashley was surprised and said it was the best party ever, so that makes it all worth while. Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions.

The dress-up relay game was a lot of fun. They had to run down to the "Polly Mall", put on a dress, a hat, a pair of glasses, a scarf, and a purse, then pose, then take it all off and run back and tag the next person. The making their own lotion and dancing at Club Grove was a big hit as well.

Next year, I am keeping it simple (wait, didn't I say that last year too) laugh.gif
