What do you call it? - Supper or Dinner?
CantWait wrote: We usually call it dinner or supper, so it really does depend. Although down east here, lunch is usually referred to as dinner, and the last meal of the day is supper. I guess according to the bible, the correct term would be supper.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well in french lunch is "Diner" (pronounced Dee-Nay) and dinner is "Souper" (pronounces Soup-Ay)
but we call lunch "lunch" and dinner "dinner", usually.... but we use supper now and then too
coasterqueen replied: Lunch is lunch and dinner is dinner. To me dinner is more formal and since we do a lot of formal meals for work - it's dinner. I think I'd probably get fired if I used the term "supper". So at home it's obviously called dinner as well because it's a more sit-down, the whole family type of event so in a way it's more formal.
Ok, understand that rambling?
C&K*s Mommie replied: second meal of the day is lunch. last meal is dinner.
