What do you all think of this name???

Bee_Kay wrote: I asked my daughter if they have thought of any baby names.
She said yes, if they have a boy he gets to name him, and if they have a girl, she gets to name her.

So, of course I ask about the names they've been thinking of.

For a boy, the BF likes DAMIEN.

My first thought was "Wasn't that the name of satan's spawn in The Omen?"
But, the BF thought that would be a "cool" name.

For a girl, my daughter likes KATRINA. Which is a nice name but my first thought was "A killer hurricane?"

I kept my mouth shut as this is their baby, but DAMIEN???? Well, I told my husband we could always call him "Ian" for short.

What do you think?

MamaJAM replied: I think they are both very nice names. Besides - it really only matters what they think (not anyone else).

As someone who chose names that our families weren't exactly _thrilled_ with and had to deal with constant complaints and whining about them.....I can honestly say - even if you don't like the names they plan to use - DON'T tell them - it'll just put up a bigger wall. Once the tot is here - you aren't going to care what the name meant to you before -- it will be your precious little grandchild/s name....and you'll love it.

Bee_Kay replied: I agree! I kept my mouth shut and still plan to. I just smile smile.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: thumb.gif thumb.gif

Bee_Kay replied: Oh, I forgot to mention in my post.

The reason that he thought DAMIEN would be cool..... is because his friends name is Brandon, but his friends call his SATAN.

So, in his mind SATAN = DAMIEN.

wacko.gif Kids *shakes head*

MamaJAM replied: I admit -- that's a strange reason to like a name...but - we all have our own reasons for the names we like. hug.gif

Bee_Kay replied: Yeah, they are young.... and I suppose have their own reasons for liking it.

I'll continue to smile and nod my head and then run here and whine and complain!! laugh.gif

luvbug00 replied: to me both names are to reminisant of disater. And I'm gonna be blunt but this kid sounds way immiture and slightly scary.

Kaitlin'smom replied: that BF scares me, I dont care much for that name. I do like Katrina, mostly casue I had a wondeful English teacher in HS her first name is Katrina, she has written 2 pubished books, and they are quite good.

But what can you do you dont get to pick and even if you dont like the name I am sure you will love the child and think of your own little name for it.

Bee_Kay replied: Of course I will love the baby smile.gif

If they choose Damien, I already dedided on a nickname - Ian (the second half of damien) smile.gif

fashionmumofboys replied: I like the names. I have a cousin by the name of Damien and he's a great guy and I also have a great friend by the name of Katrina. So for me, I say I like the names.

MamaJAM replied:
Sorry...the 'young' comment bugs me. Age isn't the thing -- they do, however, sound extremely immature. Not everyone who's 'young' is immature.

The names are very nice in their own right - IMO -- but, again, the reason he likes the one does bug me a bit.

kimberley replied: i like the name Damian but wouldn't call my kid that because of the movie. Katrina is fine tho. i would say nothing also. it's their baby. wink.gif

luvmykids replied: I like the name Damien, I just don't like BF's reasoning. Sounds like he needs to be committed.

Cece00 replied: Hm, I dont care for the names. & I agree they sounds really immature....they may really be regretting those choices years from now. But its their child, so like you said...just smile!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I like the names!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I love the name Damien. And I'm not satanic. rolling_smile.gif

I used to babysit for a couple whose kids were Damien, Adam and Eve. They had a dog named Cujo, too.

No joke.

Freaky people...they were only like 5 years older then me at the time. rolleyes.gif

Bee_Kay replied: I am sorry.

When I said young, I meant immature.

Edward's Mommy replied: Well, I like Katrina because that's my aunt's name. But I'm not too crazy about Damien. But for a boy I like names like Dylan, Dakota, Nikolai (I have VERY little Russian in me). Like you said, it's their baby.

MyLuvBugs replied: rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif When you said "Damien", I immediately thought of the Omen. lol rolling_smile.gif It figures that would be the name he likes! rolleyes.gif

But I do like the name Katrina. I think it's pretty. smile.gif

CosmetologyMommy replied: lol my dh loved damien too and I SAID NO WAY! THAT'S THE DEVIL!

MamaJAM replied:
No problem. I've just known plenty of mature 18 year olds...and plenty of immature 50 year olds. wink.gif

3xsthefun replied: Neither, one of the names are my style. But I do like the names ok. I know of a Damien and he is the nicest guy I ever knew. I also know a Katrina and is a good friend of ours.

Bee_Kay replied: I agree, the names aren't bad....

It's just the WHY he liked to name the baby that if it's a boy that gets me I guess.

A name that will be equvilent to his friend that is nicknamed Satan. dry.gif
