What did you almost name your child(ren)?
MommyToAshley wrote: It's been awhile since we've done this...
Ashley was almost named Paige. (Sierra was a close third). However, now I can't imagine her called anything but Ashley.
luvmykids replied: Actually, we thought we'd name Kylie Macie, but Macy Gray got popular at the same time and we didn't want everyone to think of her
I still really kick myself for not naming one of the girls after my grandmother, Lilly. And I really wanted Colt's name to be Jack but DH has had Colt picked out since he knew about making babies
msoulz replied: My tops for Erin were Amber and Autumn, but I was afraid she would be teased later because of the Amber alert and dh didn't like Autumn. He liked Sydney but our last name starts and ends with the S sound so I thought that was too many S's. So we settled on Erin Sydney.
For Jacob I liked Caleb and I didn't want Jacob because it was the most popular name (although I do love the name, but being a Mary in a catholic school with four others in the class I wanted something more unique) but when he was born, dh said "he's a big boy and he needs a manly name like Jake", and so i was (but not for a day or so ) How can you deny a man the right to name his pride & joy?
lisar replied: Lexi was almost Paige.
If she were a Boy it was gona be Tristan
Raygen was gona be Raygen I didnt have a choice. I wanted to name her Olivia but dh refused so we compromised and Olivia is her middle name. If she were a boy it was gona be Logan
whitting713 replied: I had always wanted to name my little girl Audrey Ana Michelle. My husband at first wanted to name her Alexandra (we would call her Lexi or Ali). One day he came home and said he wanted to name her Morgan (could be used for girl or boy). It really fits her so well.
Michelle & Morgan
luvbug00 replied: Mya (again we were told she was a he) was supposed to be named derek nicholas stetson L
PrairieMom replied: I don't remember for Ben. Alexis was what he would have been named if he were a girl, With Al, we found out what we were having and she was Alexis since that day. I really love the names Belanna, and Taylah but they are names from Si-Fi shows and were totally not happening.
lovemy2 replied: Olivia was always Olivia -
Dylan was almost a Bryan but the nurses and doctors when he was born decided he looked more like a Dylan - now he is simply known as Dilly Pickle
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Katy was always Katy Matt was always going to be Matt. or Kassie if he were a girl Johnny was almost Kassie. 'her' room had the Kassie letters on the wall and the KEB (Kassandra Elise B__) monogrammed blanket in the crib the day we brought him home
amynicole21 replied: Sophia was going to be Sophia Rose (after DH's grandmother) but we went with Sophia Cameron instead.
Nora was almost Macy, too! Funny.
Bamamom replied: I had always wanted to name a son Tripp after some dear friends who were not able to have children. It just so happened that DH was a Jr so it worked out to name him Charles Gary III and call him Tripp.
I've wanted to name my baby girl Katie Grace for as long as I can remember - DH didn't get a say!!!
We're all up in the air on the name for this one though - probably be a poll out soon to get yalls opinion
A&A'smommy replied: Alyssa was always alyssa or Dalton if she had been a boy (but I'm pretty sure we would have changed our minds on the name)
For Autumn I really like Addison before we found out what we were having BUT I have met a LOT of new addisons born last year so she didn't have a name until we found out what we were having
Kaitlin'smom replied: had Kaitlin been a boy the name we had was Christian David we had a few other girl names picked out but I dont want to share them. sorry
DillsMommy replied: Aww, I call my Dylan--Dill Pickle too!
He was always Dylan. Tom suggested the name I agreed and that was that. Peyton was Anderson for a couple months, but no body in our family liked it so we finally decided on Peyton. If he was a girl he would have been Ella Rose-- Rose after my grandma.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I loved the names Lilly and Isabelle but Bill had always wanted to name our first girl Taylor
boyohboyohboy replied: caleb was supposed to be zachary.. but he just didnt fit that when he arrived.
and Jakob was always Jakob..
andrew we named when I was about 8 weeks preg. and we were just so tired we never really talked about it again, and just gave him that name
i always like jackson...my dh hated it
abigail and alieha were our girl names
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wil's actual name is Richard William, and we always knew that. I did like Alec for him, but we wanted to continue the family name (DH is Richard the 6th, Wil is the 7th).
For Wesley, I think we really liked Kyle and also Alex. And then for a while he was going to be Adam. But we both agreed on Wesley and we have Adam as his middle name instead (again after DH who is Richard Adam).
Calimama replied: Miabella was either Anastasia or Sophia. Then DH came up with Miabella and fell in love with it's meaning. We had a hard time with boys names because DH wanted a girl so bad but he emailed me the other day and said if (IF) we have a boy then he found the perfect name but he swore me to secrecy.
abunky replied: well i thought for sure my first was a girl, so i had the name sky maria , picked out , but he was aboy and my hubby named him , then i was praying for a girl for my second and i picked out victoria lyne , but he was a boy also LOL , so my hubby named him as well
Calimama replied: I like the name Kane!!
abunky replied: thanks , he did a good job picking out he boy names , its a heck of a lot better than what my FIL wanted to name my boys , hans & gordon, i wasnt to excited about those LOL
bawoodsmall replied: I wanted Ashton Kale(after my nieces) but as soon as I found out I was preggo I knew a girl would be Emily Elaine. We had never really talked about a boy's name even though we both wanted a boy first. I really wanted Mason for Aiden but that was a no go. He seriously wanted Hal and I am not kidding. There was no way in He... my child was going to be named Hal. Once again we really didnt have a girls name we always talked about boys names. I liked Grace though. Eventually with veto power from me we decided on Aiden and it could not be any other way because it means fiery spirit and wow...that is so true.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: We've had our kids names picked out since we were dating. Maddie is named after my Nanie, Madeleine Estelle. We always loved the name Ethan (before it was even popular) and he is named after his daddy. Ethan Scott. Of course we had to have a girls name picked out when we got pregnant with Ethan, so we chose Emma Rebekah. That was Scotty's paternal grandmother's name. Maddie is named after my paternal grandmother so we thought that would be cool.
If Maddie had to rename herself, she would choose Ashley for a name. She LOVES that name. All of her dolls are named Ashley. What's funny is, that was MY favorite name when I was a child and I always assumed I would have a daughter named Ashley.
BUT, we are finished. No more kids for us. I'm pleased with the names I have chosen and like you said Dee Dee, I can't imagine them being named anything else.
Calimama replied: Can you believe my MIL wanted to name her kids ROMEO and JULIET. Isn't that SICK? I really hope she was kidding when she said that.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Andrew was going to be either Daniel James or Noah James up until the week before he was born.
Allie was always going to be Alison Carrie.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: My pastor growing up was Jack and his twin sister was Jill.
Anthony275 replied: ill just try for hansel and gretel then
Brias3 replied: Ryan was one of the first names we actually agreed on, so we just went with that. We both were on complete opposite ends of the spectrum with boys names
Aliyah was going to be Olivia but DH came up with Aliyah last minute and by that point, we had thrown around SO many names, and I had about six girls names on my list that I couldn't decide between so I pretty much said whatever and he ended up making the executive decision there. It took me a long while to really get used to liking her name, but its grown on me now that she fits it so well
Mason was another one that we had just come to agreement on. We were wanting a family name, but since the other two have family names as only the middle name, we wanted to follow suit and give him a name of his own.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: DH's middle name is Adam and his sister's is Eve. Totally intentional.
abunky replied: thats funny .....not to be off topic but i had 2 parakeets named romeo & juliet
Calimama replied: At least they weren't brother and sister.
abunky replied: yes true
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee was suppose to be Olivia Hunter Grace......Then we found out that Olivia was the #1 name that year and dh remembered that I had mentioned liking Mckaylee when I was younger....so he suggested we go ahead and use it....So it was suppose to be Mckaylee Hunter Grace.....but we ended up dropping the Hunter.....Grace is a family name on dh's side.
Mckaylee totally fits her.....I could'n't imagine her with any other name.
If Mckaylee had been a boy....she would have been either Lance or Maxwell.....
Russell I swore was going to be a girl....his name would have been Scottlyn Rose.........but my little girl ended up having a penis.......Dh already had a boys name picked out......Russell is dh's grandfather and great grandfathers name....Nathaniel is dh's brothers name.
:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: The names I had picked out for my oldest were Aaron Joseph (Joseph is his paternal grandfathers middle name) and Ivory Rae if a girl...Baby was born a he so Aaron Joseph he is. His biological fathers mid name is Ivor and my mid name is Rae. My oldest girl's names were Lily Ann Marie or Elijah Maxwell Lee, Ann is my mother's middle name and Marie is my grandmother's middle name. (see a pattern developing? hehe) Maxwell would have been after my grandmother Maxine and Lee is a family name. My step-son's name is Daniel Ray, Ray is after his father and I don't know where they got Daniel or what his name would have been had he been a girl. My youngest girl's names were going to be Kyla Raye or Kameron Lee. Ray is my husbands mid name and Rae is mine so we combined them.
In case you didn't notice hehe all of my kids have unique first names and named after someone for the mid name. It works for us
MoonMama replied: Brae was almost Landon (still love that name btw).
Calimama replied: I love Landon!! Reminds me of a that movie A walk to remember!!
lovemy2 replied: Landon was the HOTTIE BOOMBALATI resident who delivered Olivia - I certainly was not at my best that day but he sure brightened it up
Calimama replied: My resident was a geeky little man with glasses bigger than his face..
Anthony275 replied: did you give birth in 1989 or what?
jacobsmama replied: DH wanted to name Jacob
William Robert
I thought it was cute until I found out he just wanted to call him
BILLY BOB
He is nuts! lol
doublebubble replied: Olivia was almost Blakelee, and Noah was almost Luke, but Jeff's, great grandfather's name was Noah, and he wanted Noah named after him.
stella6979 replied: We decided on names while we were dating and Avery was always going to be Avery, we just couldn't decide on a middle name. Our choices were Avery Savannah or Avery Elizabeth but at that last minute we decided on Avery Sophia.
grapfruit replied: After reading through this thread, I'm kind of glad Anthony is gone...
seeingblue2 replied: Seth was almost an Ethan.
moped replied: Laila was going to be Sadie or Anna
Jack was always Jack
If I had another boy it would be Finn or Kai
AlexsPajamaMama replied: My friend just named her baby girl Ella Rose!!
Alexander was the only boy named dh and I both agreed on. And Lance is dh's middle name also. If he was a girl it would have been Mikala.
Now that we are having another one dh doesnt like that name so much anymore
kinsley'smomma replied: Kinsley was almost Reagan, but dh has a BOY cousin named reagan.
raven092177 replied: for Raina-Rane' i originally wanted to name her Rainbow Jazmine Lynn. DH wouldn't go for Rainbow. he liked Jazmine but not really Lynn. He wanted to name her Renee but i wasn't that crazy about it, to common for my taste. so we compromised. her name is now Raina-Rane' (sounds like Renee) Jazmine. i briefly thought of naming her Anastacia but figured people would end up calling her 'stacie' and well DH 's girlfriend before he met me was named 'stacie' so nope wasn't gonna go for that. lol! she would of been named River had she been a boy.
River's first name was always going to be River if he was a boy. His middle name is James (which is DH's first name) but we did consider using Jude as his middle name. had he been a girl we were gonna name him Stormie-Rose Dyanne.
for Romma-Reese we'd briefly thought of naming her Stormie-Rose Dyanne or Stormie-Breeze Dyanne but the kids wanted her to have the same initials as they do so we decided on Romma as the first part of the name and either Reese, Rae or Raven as the second part. we actually put the 3 names in a hat and had my mom draw one out. 'Reese' is what she pulled out. we chose 'Jade' as her middle name so her name is Romma-Reese Jade. had she been a boy we were gonna go with Roman Jude
Marissa replied: Preface: Yes, I know this is an old thread, but that's OK!
Anyway, my story is about me rather than what I was going to name my own child. My parents almost named me Matilda. I want to apologize now to anyone named Matilda right now, but I just don't like that name. I've never met another Matilda though... Since my dh found out about that from my parents he likes to tease me and call me Matilda just to give me a hard time. He seems to get a bigger kick out of it when we're in public and he says it loud enough for other to hear. I've been calling him Frodo to get back at him.
Cherie replied: With Nathan - we knew before we started ttc... boy - Nathan Ryan (Ryan is dh's name) and girl - Lisa Aryn (Aryn jumbled has the same letters as Ryan).
With Tyler - we were undecided until he was born. We had narrowed it down to Tyler, Matthew, or Sean. I picked Tyler Michael because it went so nicely with Nathan and Michael because it is dh's middle name. Had he been a girl - still Lisa Aryn.
Now if we ever had another (I can only hope), boy - we'd have to start looking again. Girl - tossed up between Lisa Aryn or Lisa Lea.
youngmomofone replied: My oldest was going to be named Rosalind. My dh wanted to name her that from day 1 but I wanted something else. When we couldn't agree on anything, we finally agreed on Cynthia.
My youngest was going to be Emma. All along dh didn't have a problem with it, but at the end he said he didn't like it. We settled on Alexis.
This baby if it is a girl we have decided on Taylin and it will NOT change. If it's a boy he will be a Jr. Dh never changed his mind on that.
luvbug00 replied: Taylin
reminds me of myas half sister caliynn (pronounced cay-lynn )
youngmomofone replied: yeah, I know a few Cailynn, Kaelyn, etc lol. I was actually watching a Lifetime movie when I heard the name Taylin and fell in love!
