What can I feed this child??
amynicole21 wrote: All of a sudden, Nora is really into table food. She will take a few bites of pureed baby food, then beg for whatever we are eating. I've given her mashed potatoes, soft carrots, some chicken, rice, bananas and bread. Whe still only has two teeth on the bottom, but seems to be able to handle chewing most things. I need ideas on what else to feed her! I know they say you can feed them anything that you eat, but I'm still worried about things not being soft enough.
We don't eat a lot of fresh veggies at our house Mostly canned. I suppose we could get some to steam...
coasterqueen replied: What's wrong with giving her the canned veggies? That's all we eat too.
For some reason I've never been a worry-er about what foods and whether they have enough teeth to eat it. Even with Megan's gag reflex issues and gagging/puking I still didn't stop giving her certain foods. As long as I'm there to watch what she's eating/doing I'm comfortable giving her just about anything.
What about baked mushed sweet potato? I'm at a loss what to suggest because we literally do give Megan everything we eat, well except cheese things.
Also, what about applesauce, peaches, mandarin oranges......?
moped replied: Canned is just fine I think, what about cut up cheese, cheerios, you could mix vegys in with the mashed taters.....................yogurt, toast
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Mackenzie only has 4 teeth, which aren't even all the way in yet and she eats everything we eat. I just make sure the pieces are small and I watch her closely.
kit_kats_mom replied: corn, fish sticks, canned veggies, barley, noodles, cous cous, yogurt & mandarin oranges are som of l's faves
coasterqueen replied: Do you all feed your babies corn? I'm just curious. This is one thing for some reason Dh and I haven't given Megan nor Kylie at this age. I don't know why, seriously.
huggybugboy replied: Miles loves mandarin oranges, string cheese (I cut it up in chunks), cheerios, avacado (really good for vitamins), banana, mashed peas, etc. Ive noticed that if I feed him when we eat and just give him his food with an adult spoon, he thinks its a real treat. ( I know, bad mom for tricking him.)
Jamison'smama replied: Jack eats about 5-10 strawberries a day--he loves manderine oranges, cheese that I cut into cubes, small cubes of turkey, baked potato cut up so that it is easier to pick up than mashed, green beans, cottage cheese, peas and lots of pasta. Jamison, Jack and Jon(DH) love to mix mac n cheese, peas and tuna---I guess it's pretty healthy but ICK!!
NEWMOM05 replied: My niece only has two bottom teeth and she eats: Macaroni and cheese, She loves any kind of pasta just cut it up small, pizza (not the healthiest choice) ham, chicken, turkey, cheese, lettuce, chips (even the crunchy ones she can eat and her favorite is almost any kind of bread. She pretty much feeds herself except for the pasta too messsy. Also all sorts of fruits and veggies (she can even eat apples if the pieces are small enough. Hope that helps. Basically if the pieces are small enough she can eat most anything except for the tough stuff. Also so you know don't give her honey. Also I almost forgot she loves jelly sandwiches and grilled cheese. Peanut butter we think might be too hard for her still. My niece is 1. How old is your little one?
Peggy
coasterqueen replied: Ooh pasta is a good one. Megan LOVES spaghetti. She's hilarious and sucks it up little at a time.
kit_kats_mom replied: oh yeah, apple sauce and mac & cheese too. Lauren also LOVES broccoli & hamburger meat. I mean this child pounces on broccoli like I pounce on chocolate.
kit_kats_mom replied: and lentil soup. any soup really. I just drain the juice off and give it to her over rice or pasta.
EvesMom replied: The problem with canned veggies is that they are loaded with sodium and preservatives, that's why a lot of people recommend not giving them to babies.
3_call_me_mama replied: We buy no salt added veggies that only have water adn teh veggie for teh ingredients (or we buy fresh and steam) We don't do corn much as they (well us neither really) can't digest it well) but corn on teh cob is a big favorite so that's a treat. Minestrone soup was a big hit with both mine as well as pasta wheels with maranara sauce to dip in. They were wierd too though cause they love chili and baked beans. We eat chili a coupel times a month some times cause they love it and it's good for them. (Beans, hamburg and tomatoes and spices ) Also crumbled up turkey burgers, and rice. It's messu but both mine LOVED rice.
mckayleesmom replied: Russell loves green beans.
coasterqueen replied: We only buy the veggies with no salt and just in water.
amynicole21 replied: I thought that they weren't supposed to have tomatoes or citrus so young? Something to do with it being too acidic?
The only reason I mentioned the canned veggies is that I thought people would recommend steaming broccoli or something - not happening at our house! LOL!
NEWMOM05 replied: [QUOTE] We don't do corn much as they (well us neither) can't digest it well)
My sis calls corn no purpose. Corn has no nutritional purpose apparently and it never digests fully. So she says, I still love it.

Boys r us replied: Girl, she's almost 1..at 1 both of my boys were eating what we ate unless it was spicy or I knew they wouldn't eat it!
At that age, my guys loved waffles, bacon, oatmeal, cheerios, scrambled eggs, toast w/ light jelly for breakfast type foods
For lunch/dinner stuff, they literally ate whatever we did. Both were extra fond of Peas and beans and big shaped pasta, b/c they liked being able to hand feed themselves. They both also like fresh peaches, which I would give them whole and they would make one heck of a mess! But they LOVED IT!
paradisemommy replied: rice is a HUGE staple at our house and for breakfast we would always eat what my mom called water rice which was just rice in a pot and add a little more water than you have rice and let it cook for a bit..few minutes..i add just a pinch of chicken seasoning (broth) and sesame oil - you can add meat chopped up really small and soy sauce if you want..all to your liking..
rice and gravy is good too..
My3LilMonkeys replied: Madison has only 2 bottom teeth and basically eats whatever we do as long as it's soft. She loves bread/crackers/cereal and other starches the best though.
kit_kats_mom replied: lol. I just microwave a few frozen florets for the girls. I tear laurens up into little pieces
Mason's Mum replied:
