What can I do

mommyof4 wrote: My 1 and 3 year old will only wear flip flops , which was ok being summer but now its getting colder and I cannot get them put on shoes, I took them to a shoe store to get them to try on new ones and they wanted nothing to do with them . I know if I throw them out they will go bare foot , I just dont know how to get them to wear shoes . Any suggestions I would love TIA.

mckayleesmom replied: Have you tried letting them pick out their own big kid shoes....Sometimes all it takes is a certain character to wow them into shoes. rolling_smile.gif

For your 1 year old I would try Robeez....My son loved those. He had the shark pair, some monkeys, baseballs and footballs. They dohttp://www.robeez.com/Department.aspx?DeptID=55&PriceCat=2&Lang=EN-US&RefID=YHUS_robeez&SID=3a03417e-3d55-4320-a0a7-4ba7f1f4e073 make some styles up to 4 years and I never had a problem with my son pulling them off.

mommyof4 replied: the robeez he has many , I did go to the store with them to pick , maybe I should try another that has more of the charators as you said , that may spark an interest .
Thank you

PrairieMom replied: I'm a "mean" mommy.
Last winter my 3 year old liked to take her shoes off in the car. She thought it would make me carry her into the house when we get home. I refused and made her walk. Even if the garage floor was freezing, she walked. After a few times of that She kept her shoes on.

mommyof4 replied: biggrin.gif hmmm I may have to use your mean mommy tactic .

ChristineA replied: what about light up shoes? I got my daughter some at walmart for $12 and she wants to wear them all the time

mommyof4 replied: I am going to check out the light ups tomorrow thanks , that may just work . I am usully picky on they kind I buy but right now as long as it stays on , thats all care about now .

momofone replied: Maybe you can try crocs with fur in them and call them "winter flip flops"

mommyof4 replied: I managed to find them stride right light up shoes , thank you for the light up idea worked great .

MommyToAshley replied: thumb.gif Glad you found something that worked. My daughter hated shoes too... I don't think she has shoes on in any of her pictures before the age of 1. LOL

boyohboyohboy replied: my kids have these rubber character rain boots that I think we got at target, and they wore these things until their feet wouldnt go in them anymore..
half the time they were not even dressed but in their boots!

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif That's Megan. She wears her rain boots ALL the time and not just when it's raining. Her attire is usually a dress or skirt/shirt and rain boots. I told her I need to get her some cowgirl boots so the outfit looks a bit better. rolling_smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
what about "squeaky" shoes LOTS of little ones like those

mommyof4 replied:
thats funny . My son is right now running around with his new shoes and a diaper he wont take the shoes off , maybe this worked too well .

ChristineA replied: the first few times Anika had her light up shoes on I dont know how many times she hit her head on something. Shed be running around and the light would catch her eye and shed look down..SMACK hahah. We couldnt help but laugh

mommyof4 replied: yah I would laugh also , arent we bad . biggrin.gif

moped replied: I buy the squeaky shoes and take the squeak out - OMG i HATE those things!!!!!!!! I like them because htey are wide enough for L's chubby foot!

ChristineA replied:
I used to work at childrens place and when a few kids would come in with those things on I hated it..there so annoying after awhile.

mommyof4 replied: here they are in their new shoes

AlenaScott replied: They look really happy in their shoes.....The mean mommy helped to make things better.....
