bawoodsmall wrote: We found out what your reading to your children, but what are you reading?
Me...My sister's keeper by Jodi Picoult. Dh picked this up for me and I love it. I have about 20 pages left. I am going to try some more of hers from amazon.
luvmykids replied: I was just going to ask this same thing, I'm going to the library tomorrow and need some suggestions.
I loved that book, btw.
Calimama replied: I'm reading The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve!
DillsMommy replied: Organizing for dummies!
holley79 replied: I am trying very hard to read Dean Koontz Winter Moon I'm having a tough time with it though. A new book comes in and I stop reading it to read that one. I am waiting for Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts to get here.
Monica, you can't go wrong with Fern Michaels, Tami Hoag, Nora Roberts aka JD Robb and a few others!
luvmykids replied: I LOVE Tami Hoag I don't think I've ever read JD Robb....thanks for the ideas!
holley79 replied: JD Robb is a LONG series of books. I think the very first one is Divided in Death. If you find one of her books at the Libary just check the inside jacket of it and make sure you start from the beginning. YOu will not be sorry and they are T Total page burners.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I am reading My Dear President. It is a collection of letters to/from presidents from their wives and back It is pretty interesting to see into their lives like that
bawoodsmall replied: That sounds good. I will have to pick it up.
stella6979 replied: I'm a big True Crime/Horror fan but it's been a few months since I've gotten a new book. The last book I read was The Bone Parade which I thought was great. Morbid and gruesome, but great.
msoulz replied: I just got a couple of the Supernanny books but haven't taken time to read them yet . . .
jcc64 replied: The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway. Started reading it with my 15 yo ds, who was doing a report on Hemingway over Christmas break. As it turned out, it's required reading for my own lit class this semester, so it was pretty fortuitous. I'm finding some of the dialogue a little dated, but I'm plowing through it, especially since my professor's a pre-eminent Hemingway scholar.
Our Lil' Family replied: Good Book!
I just finished a Francine Rivers book, The Atonement Child. Before that I read Fern Michaels but I can't remember the name of it....it was good too! My MIL loves Fern Michaels so I get them after she reads them.
luvbug00 replied: ok i'm soo late on this but i just started the harry potter series.
Nina J replied: I am currently reading The Amber Spyglass, the last book in the His Dark Materials triolgy.
I have Daughter of the East by Benazir Bhutto waiting to be read, and I am waiting for another book (About A Boy by Nick Hornby) to get here in the mail.
Some others I read in the last few weeks that were good was The Color of Hope by Susan Madison, and Terri Irwins book. It's called My Steve here in Australia but I think I heard it has a different title else where.
Crystalina replied: I'm reading 'East of Eden' for the second time.
lovemy2 replied: An Innocent Man by John Grisham
My3LilMonkeys replied:
That was an excellent book, one of his best!
I'm reading Gone with the Wind, for about the 40th time.
bawoodsmall replied: What is the about a boy about? I kinda flip from fiction to nonfiction. Bios lately
Nina J replied: Have you seen the movie About A Boy, with Hugh Grant and Toni Collette? The movie is based on the book. Apparently, the book is pretty good and ends differently than the movie. I love the movie, and usually if a movie is based on a book, I like the book more than the film.

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
My favorite book (and movie) of all time Have you read Scarlett? It is not by Margret Mitchell but it is a good book and finishes her story nicely. I think I still have it in my book collection. If you haven't read it I will look and send it to you
My3LilMonkeys replied: Yes, I have it - and actually, I can't decide which I like better! Gone With the Wind was my favorite book for almost 10 years until I discovered Scarlett - now I can't make up my mind.
Thanks for the offer though - that was really sweet of you.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: No problem I love them both as well!
Have you ever read North and South? You would probably enjoy the whole trilogy since they are set in the same era.
bawoodsmall replied: Do I have to read Gone with the Wind? I feel like a loser cuz I have never read it nor have I seen the movie. Is it really that good?
On a sidenote - What does everyone do with their books once they are done reading them? Do you just sit them on a shelf for eternity? Would anyone be interested in swapping books?
My3LilMonkeys replied: I really like it, but it's VERY long and it does get slow in parts, so it's definitely not for everybody.
When I'm done with a book, if I don't like it I give it to someone I think would like it or take it to the book swap. If I liked it, it goes on my shelf. I'm a rereader - I've read most of the books I own a half dozen times or so and some even more (I really wasn't exaggerating on Gone With the Wind - I've read it at least 2-3 times a year since I was 12)
Crystalina replied: LOOOOOVE HIM!!!
Brias3 replied: I just finished For One More Day by Mitch Albom. What a tearjerker. It's an excellent read though.
I'm also looking for some suggestions to start on. My mom passed along a copy of Where the Heart Is, but I read it a few years back and rarely like to re-read.
luvmykids replied: I loved North and South!
I keep my books too, unless I really hated them and I give them away. But the ones I like I keep and read over and over and over
bawoodsmall replied: I hate to say it but prob not gonna happen on the gone with the wind. I wont say never but prob not. It sounds BORING
punkeemunkee'smom replied: It is very involved-there is lots of information and it does get slow at times but you become so immersed in the characters that it is a good read! It is actually different from the movie...I love both though
Nina J replied: Has anyone read any of the Adrian Mole books by Sue Townsend? I was at a library that was giving away old books, they had all of them except the newest one. I got them because they were free and I'd heard they were funny. I loved them, not so much the last ones but the first 3 are hilarious.
Oh, and another book I loved, loved, LOVED!!! was Steal You Away by Niccolo Ammaniti.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I'm reading "Gifted" by Nikita Lalwani.
coasterqueen replied: I have Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen to read. I bought the book for my co-worker and she loved it and wanted me to read it. I just haven't had time to read lately.
PrairieMom replied: the womens daily study bible Financial freedom revisited and treasures of the north (some christian romance period type novel)
my2monkeyboys replied: I'm about to start the new Stephen King book. I just finished one of those Janet Evanovich books (can't remember the name of it ).
My3LilMonkeys replied: Is that the nonfiction one about writing? I am impatiently waiting for my sister to finish it so I can borrow it. Or does he have another new one I haven't found yet? I'm not doing very good at keeping up with things these days.
mckayleesmom replied: That is one of my favorite books. I love her. I just read one by her about a columbine type school situation and it was really good.....I forgot the name of it though.
sparkys2boys replied: Late on this post.. but I havent read gone with the wind either, I keep saying to myself that I am going to go out and but it but never seem to remember to do it I have been reading gushy romance novels that my sister gave to me..lol
mckayleesmom replied: Same here...and I haven't seen the movie either.
bawoodsmall replied: Holy Crap on the ending is all I have to say!!!
bawoodsmall replied: Glad I am not the only one on Gone with the Wind.
