What are you planning for Father's Day
MommyToAshley wrote: I am sooo excited, this is TLCDad's first Father's Day. I can't say what we have planned because he reads the board. LOL. But, what do you have planned?
ashade75 replied: I haven't thought that far in advance!! Yikes it is just over a week away.
I am up for good ideas. I guess I will have to hang around and see what everyone posts.
maliksmommy replied: Nothing planned yet but I definately need to start thinking about it, I can't believe it's next weekend already.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well with it being his first fathers day..............oh waite he might be lurking around so i can't say what I am planning. But I think we will be going to dinner with his mom and grandparents, wish robert(MIL husband, daddy to us!) could go he is overseas
ps I will let you know after the big day!
Heather replied: AWw this is Jason's first Father's Day!! I am so excited!! I bought him tickets to see the Yankees play in New York. He has never been to Yankee stadium so I thought it would be cool! BUT the game isn't til July 20th so he will have to wait for that one. I am thinking of booking a room up there for the night before so we can go see the baseball hall of fame and all that..but that is a maybe! But Father's Day night I am going to cook Sgetti and parm. (his favorite) and just hang out!! I am looking forward to it...he is such a good Daddy! He deserves to have a good day!!
booey2 replied: Well we normally have a huge BBQ on the Saturday just before Father's Day. with all his and my family to celebrate, not just Father's Day but his Dad's birthday (as it falls on the 18th of June) and Matthew's birthday (July 3). We do this cause it is the best day to get everyone together and Matthew can have his family party too. This year we bumped it back to the 21st as some family couldn't make it and now all 40 can so it will be a big group. The actual fathers day this year will be a quite one. I haven't really thought of what to do, guess I had better get planning.
supermom replied: This is the one "gripe" I have about marrying someone from a different country - giggle - they don't celebrate some of their holiday the same time, so we try to celebrate based on their schedules and alternate when we do things (like, for example, Christmas - there it is traditional to celebrate on Eve not on Day, so every other year we alternate - the kids like it because they get to open their presents early - teehee)
So, this year, Father's Day isn't until later, based on the Swedish tradition - smile - but that's ok, we'll probably still do something.....like cook out or whatever!! This will work until we get to school age and things get done there for the certain holidays. His biggest gripe is that everything here is so commercial, and I have to say I agree with him for sure!
And WOW! Booey2 - sounds like a fun filled BIG party at your house!! - sounds like lots and lots of fun!
booey2 replied: Tons of fun, thank goodness I can do all kinds of prep early and because we celebrate Grandpa's birthday and father's day everyone brings some kind of food, salad whatever, and it helps with the cost of feeding everyone. Also DH does all the bbq'ing I just have to organize him. Ha Ha
MomToMany replied: Don't have anything planned, yet. We were busy getting married last year, so I don't know what to do this year ! Shane would really like a DVD player, and I don't know whether or not to get him one. Money is really tight (like always-we're still waiting for the refinancing to go through), so I need some ideas!
ediep replied: DH got tickets to the yankee game since Tino Martinez will be there. Of course, Jason is too little to bring, so we may have a bbq for dh on saturday and Jason and I will celebrate fathers day with my parents. Its my moms b-day too
mckayleesmom replied: well you could put a dvd player on layaway and let him know that eventually he will get one and in the meantime, maybe have the kids make him coupons for stuff like a massage, or helping to wash the car,,,stuff like that.
kit_kats_mom replied: I have started a new tradition this year. I bought him the UGLIEST tie I could find. It is dark blue with handprints in primary colors that say DAD in the middle of each hand! ROFLMAO
ashade75 replied: How funny. I bet he'll never forget that one.
CantWait replied:
Not fair I was eating dinner and almost spit it out when I read that, so funny
I'm sorta in the same boat as supermom, hubby's background is hispanic and some of their traditions, like Christmas (Christmas Eve) is celebrated on different days. I don't know about father's day. Honestly I didn't think it was so close already. DH is oversea's this year, I packed him two big parcels of stuff, candy, breakfast bars, freezies, etc.....I think it will be late though.... Shame on my lazy pregnant butt
MomToMany replied: Thank you! Great ideas! They will like doing stuff like that! They love spending time with their stepfather, and he's great with them, too!
MommyToAshley replied: Wow! Some great ideas here!
I think we will just sneak into Booey2's cookout. With 40 people, she won't notice a few more around the food table. LOL
ashade75 replied:
Just bumping this up. Since Father's Day is Sunday and I don't have any ideas.
booey2 replied: You are more then welcome if you want to make the road trip up here to Toronto, Ontario Canada. We would love to have you.
jdkjd replied: I may have to steal that idea!!
I'm going to try and do the footprint or handprint thingy on the craft board. But I just don't know when I'll have the chance...
With his birthday just being a week and a half ago and our anniversary, I'm running out of stuff to give him!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I have NO CLUE what to get him.... we celebrated MD and FD last year as well. We figured "why not...first gift from baby before he's born..."
This year though, I have no idea! I'll probably make a white cake with icing, and decorate it.... and maybe give him a dvd he's been eyeing at the store... who knows. I'd LOVE some original ideas....
Kaitlin'smom replied: okay I will share I hope he does not lurk on here and find out!
He had asked for Kaitlins first shoes to hang in his car after she out grew them, so I made him a card and I am gonna tie a pink ribbon on the shoes and give that to him as well as something else, okay dont tell I took his favorie picture of her and had a mouse pad made with her picture that says I Love Daddy.
The other ideas I had for him was to make his a golf shirt (okay that part I was gonna buy) and stamp either her hand or foot on the left chest, and maybe write something like daddy's little girl.
I also thought of making the hand/foot print with that craft idea posted on the board.
I really hope he does not see this! Its hard enought to keep them until sunday but so far so good!
