What age for 1st trip to Disney
MommyToAshley wrote: I am thinking 4ish? Already planning ahead for the fun stuff. hehe
Mommieto2Girls replied: We already are planning to take Maddie right before her 2nd birthday ( she's FREE till 2 years old). So that will be her first time going.
paradisemommy replied: it was a toss up between 3ish and 4ish...but i went for 3..figure i could go home for a visit and pop in to disneyland (live in hawaii, raised in washington state)
Schnoogly replied: Well considering we only live an hour away from disneyland, it will probably be pretty soon. Dh LOVES disneyland but I'm not a big fan...been there way too many times and don't like crowds. I wouldn't want to go before he's 3 though--before that DH is on his own!!

supermom replied: Since we live quite a ways away, and it would be a MAJOR trip for us, I would say 5 or older. That way they are sure to remember it, and they will have something to tell all of their school friends. We did take the older ones when the oldest was 4 and the younger DD was 2 (and I was PG with the third but didn't know until we got home!!) and he doesn't really remember the trip at all. That was why I said what I did.
However, if we lived as close as Schnoogly we'd probably buy season passes and go a LOT!! I love Disneyland!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: we are planning on going when she is 6. I want to take her to Diacovery Cove, but she needs to be 6 and swim so we can go play with the Dolphins! I am sooo looking foward to doing that again!
~CrazieMama~ replied: I say around 2 years old. At that age they are still learning and the look on their faces at that age is amazing to see. My son was young when he first went there. But boy was he a sight to watch when we went on rides that were slow moving and singing. His eyes were wide and the expression was priceless.
mckayleesmom replied: I would say that around 2 would be a good age cause their little faces light up at everything new. But I would also say that I would have to take other people with me cause I would have to have someone take turns watching her so I could go on rides too,,Im a big kid...
I will be in California on Friday to visit family and I might go to disneyland with my sister cause I get a active military discount for up to 5 people.
supermom replied: Your last two posts reminded me of a story and I've got to share (it's 3 am here and baby is NOT letting me sleep at all - I think s/he's having a party in there without me!!)
When we took the two oldest kids to Disneyland, we had gone out to CA to visit my mom. She was about an 8 hour drive from there, but we went ahead and drove the trip with my mom, my aunt, my XH and myself, plus the two kids (PJ was 4 and Leah was 2).
We didn't actually go to DL until the next day so we could get in a full day's visit, but we had prepped PJ well, or at least we thought so. We had been there about 3 hours, walking around, riding the rides, etc, etc. when we finally got to Sleeping Beauty's castle (you know, the one that is the Disney Show and all Disney movies use for their "logo"?). When my son laid eyes on the castle, he proclaimed loudly for all to hear "WE FINALLY MADE IT TO DISNEYLAND!!!!". It was SO hilarious, my mom and I couldn't stop laughing. To him, that WAS Disneyland. He had seen it so often and we had talked about it while he was watching the show, etc, etc.....we weren't really THERE until he saw that very famous landmark. We tried to explain that the whole park WAS Disneyland, but he wasn't buying any of it!! teeheee
MomToMany replied: Cute story Supermom! Well, we will probably never go, but I said 4 years old. They're potty trained by then, and it would be so much easier not worrying about diapers. But that's my opinion!
ediep replied: I would say 2. My parents have a house in Florida that we try to visit as often as we can. DH wants to go this summer, but I think next fall would be better. Jason will hopefully be eatiing table food, so we won't have to worry about jars of babyfood and he will still comfortably be in a stroller but he will also walk.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well...I'd say around 8-10 ish, just because I want them to REMEMBER it. I went when I was 4, and I don't remember anything at all. The only reason I know I went, is because my mom has loads of pictures of us at the park.
My MIL tells me all the time (well she did when I would actually listen to what she said....) that she's going to take all 3 kids (my son, plus our niece and nephew - 3 and 2 yearls old respectively) in a few years.
Ya freaking right.
She doesn't listen to what I say when she's in MY home, with me THERE, does she really think I'm going to let her take my sone many many many hours away, into a park FULL of strangers, for a few days?
I don,t freaking think so. I'll take my OWN son there, when *I* want to, thank you very much.
MommyToAshley replied: LOL--- tooo funny
jdkjd replied: I'm not sure. Probably around 4 or 5. I went there so often during high school that I got tired of it. I'm hoping to actually be excited when I go with kids. They now (in Orlando) have a wildlife park, a water park and a Beach Club resort (in addition to all of their other resorts in Orlando).
Some friends of mine got engaged there so they took their month and half old baby there for a anniversary/work function. They always have a good time. Disney has really done an amazing job creating resorts for kids.
