What age did you stop breastfeeding?

I was wondering when you stopped breastfeeding? And why did you stop? If you could do it over again, would you have breastfed them longer?

Mom2Boyz replied: I breastfed Conner until he was 13 months old. I only quit then because I was 3 months pg at the time and my dr convinced me that I NEEDED to stop. Conner was almost weaned anyway, but I should have done it on our time and not my drs.
Caden is almost 6 months old, and we're still b/f most of the time. He's been getting more formula lately, because for some reason I'm not making enough to keep up with him. Actually he seems happier with the bottle, so I'm probably only going to continue to b/f him until he has his surgery.
Jamison'smama replied: 24 months with Jamison--I was pregnant and my supply decreased and she weaned on her own.
Still going strong at 12 months with Jack.

Kathleen is 15 months adn still nurses quite often. Generally 2-3 times a day sometiems more depends on her mood
PrairieMom replied: 3 months with The Boy, but I had to stop and started pumping because he had reflux and needed his bottles thickened. I really regret that I wasn't able the nurse longer, and am really looking foward to nursing the next one.

amynicole21 replied: 27 months with Sophia - I was 3 mos pregnant and went away for a weekend and she never asked again. Still nursing Nora at nearly 8 months, and will continue as long as we're both happy with it.
kimberley replied: Jacob 13 mos. my OB told me i had to stop because i was pg and would compromise the baby if i continued.  i later learned that was not true. he wasn't ready, nor was i and i would change it if i could.
James 13mos. he lost interest and i was exhausted. 
Jade still going at almost 28mos. she hardly nurses but once a day anymore but i will let her wean when she is ready.
this baby coming, i hope to do the same as Jade and let him/her self wean BUT i hope to supplement bottles of BM so i can leave the house once in a while.

 Hopefully with your next one you won't have to stop so early. Megan has reflux and we decided not to listen to the doctors on thickening bottles and we were glad we did it. She's 9 months and still nursing strong.
coasterqueen replied: Kylie was 24 months when she weaned - I was almost 2 months pg at the time. She just kept telling me that "snuggles" tasted bad and stopped.
Megan is 9 months and going strong. I hope to go just as long with her or longer.
I worked and pumped breastmilk for Kylie for 19 months, til she was 21 months of age. I hope to pump just as long for Megan or longer.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I was able to nurse my first for 8 1/2 months before she decided that she didn't want me anymore. Jordan has been nursing for 2 months and I plan to nurse her until she decides to wean herself.

booey2 replied: Well with Matthew I got as far as 2 months and it was really tough because he would nurse forever and then chug a bottle of formula because there was nothing really there. The same thing happened with Thomas and I think I last maybe 6-8weeks not sure.
CantWait replied: Well I went back to school August 04, (Anthony was 13 months), we stopped breastfeeding during the day at that point, only early morning and night feedings, then within the next couple months we had stopped completely.

zdk753 replied: All of mine were weaned at 16 mos. W/ Zach & Dylan I was 3 mos. along w/ the next one & was told by my Dr. to not nurse while I was pregnant. He had said that the iron would start to increase & be to much for the one nursing at the time. A month after I had weaned Dylan I ended up losing that baby & was so mad at myself for quitting. I tried to see if we could pick up, but by then he wasn't interested. W/ Kailynn she just decided one day she liked her cup more & stopped.
1moremakes4 replied: With Taylor she went to daycare at 7 weeks old. I wasn't able to pump, so we started her on formula during the day while I was at work. She bf at night until she was about 3 months old and I got really sick. I didn't keep my self hydrated like I should have and my supply couldn't keep up. She got so frustrated and we just put her on formula from then on.
This time, I said I would feed Kamryn until she decided to stop on her own. It's hard though!! I'm new to staying at home and bf every couple hours with a 3 year old needing attention also. I have such a respect for all mothers who have bf exclusively!! 
PhiMuMommy replied: i breast fed untill he was around 7 or 8 months.. but he was eating real food by then so it wasn't a big deal.. that is about when i'd stop again. my cousin didn't stop till 4 and i think that was way way way too late. imo

Gabe to age 16 mos - I went cold turkey on him and wish I didn't. I bet he'd still night nurse today! 
Hannah & Olivia to age 11 mos - They were both biting me and becoming very disinterested.

julesmom replied: My first I pushed weaning at 10mths. I was getting alot of pressure from my inlaws. 
My second self-weaned at 13mths.
My last I had to wean when she was 11mths because I needed medication and it wasn't safe for her. I would have loved to continue as long as she wanted.
