What a weekend...WOW!!

We went out of town for the weekend to do some more furniture shopping! Well, my old brother(recently divorced..wife took it all) just completely gutted his house and renovated it all, new cabinets..granite....tile...bathrooms..hardwood floors..all of it. Well he wanted to buy new stuff to completely refurnish his house now that the renovating is complete! So he and his girlfriend(whom we've only met once before) and my parents who are always looking for something new to spend money on and Rick and I all went out of town to go shopping. We have a new house being built and I personally would love to just freaking chuck all of the stuff we have now into a big salvation army pile and get new stuff, I'm sick of looking at it all..the furniture, the pictures, the nick nacks..all of it! I want new! So as you can see..we'll be making lots of shopping trips since I don't want the normal run of the mill type furniture, I want stuff no one else has around here!
Anyways, I bought TONNNNNNNNNS of stuff this weekend...TONS!! I couldn't even believe it, we really went with a new living room set as our main goal to find, as last trip we bought bedroom furniture. Well, I was walking down the street and saw a white comforter set with black polka dots and pink trim in a store window. TOTALLY caught my eye for alliebelle..since these are the exact colors her new room is gonna be in and even down to the polka dots. I had to have it! I had really planned on going kinda cheap with just a solid pink comforter since she's so little, I didn't see the point in investing a lot in it and it being ruined probably sooner than later. But when I saw this, I told Rick I had to have it..price no object..It was MINE! So..we both choked when he saw how much it was..but even Rick knew it was perfect and I bought it!

Well while I was in the place, I looked around for a new comforter for our new bed. I FELL IN LOVE with one that was cream and black..but cream and black wouldn't really go that great with the bed we had bought on our last trip, the bed was a rich brown wood and I don't know..it just wouldn't work. But, something in me made me buy it anyways, I mean we both loved it and that's hard to find! Here it is!


So we left that store...and then the next place we went, I saw this..and before I could say anything, Rick saw it too and we both were in Awwwwwwwwwwww! I mean Speechless..in love..had to have it...it was a deep deep brown wood but a black distressing finished glaze on it..and would match the comforter we just bought PERECTLY! So....we stepped outside real quick and found the number for the furniture store where we bought our other bedroom set (they had agreed to hold it for us in their warehouse until our house was finished) and we found out the sale was not final..and it could be "returned" even though it technically had never left. So..we bought a new bedroom set!!! YAY!!! and I love it!! I loved the other one too..but this one was more "us" and it was less overhwelming..yet soo romantic and classy and I can now paint my bedroom walls the barely blue color with my mostly black bed and the cream and black comforter..and have a room I LOVVVVVVVVE

So..now we'd bought everything BUT a living room set. We decided on a little more shopping even though we were EXHAUSTED! The last place we went, we found a bourbon color leather sectional sofa with a chaise on one end, which I had really wanted.
I sort of feel like we settled because I wanted something that made more of a statement..but we just weren't finding anything "special". I think I can use this as a "canvas" to work with and just jazz it up with a nice oversized chair with some sort of cool pattern and some really nice end tables and coffe table. here is a pic of it..except this one is black...couldn't find a pic of it in bourbon.


So anyways..the odd part...my brother's girlfriend is apparently FREAKING psychotic!!! half way through the day she FLIPPED out on him and started yelling at him in the middle of a furniture store...b/c he didn't like the bedroom set she picked out that she liked..uhmmm..they are dating, not engaged..or anything. Not like she was paying for half of it or something. So..once we got in the car..she was SOBBBBBBING! Talk about akward. My brother is a saint b/c he was totally calm and collected..bless his heart!!!! Well, we woke up this morning about 9 and got our showers and got ready and I walk down the hall to my parents hotel room and my brother was sitting on the couch in their hotel room..SHE LEFT HIM! OMG..LOL..She left him there 2 hours away from home! I couldn't believe it!!! all because he didn't like the one she picked out!!!!!!! We were in our little Subaru Tribecca SUV and already had 4 of us in there and all of our luggage and little odds and ends that we had bought that weren't being shipped and there was no room to set the back row of seats up..so we all 5 had to SQUISH in there..OMG..I'm just in shock!!! Really...if this is her "best foot forward" to impress the family..boy I'd hate to see her on a bad day!

Honestly, I think it's a good thing she freaked out now. Better to find out your GF is a stark, raving lunatic early in a relationship! If she's gonna flip out over something like that... what on earth is she gonna do over important things? Or if they had children?!?!

Where did you guys go shopping? My aunt went to NC or somewhere where all the manufacturers are and came back with some really incredible stuff.

Lisa, it was her car. They had driven seperately from us b/c we didn't really have room in the car we took and I wanted to leave my minivan for our babysitter so she would have the carseat already in and the stroller loaded up and all of that. So that left the two of them following us their in her car.


Monica, we went to High Point Nc, it's 'The furniture Market of the World'. They have really good deals on high end furniture. You can get stuff you would never see in your local furniture store, like a 30K bedroom suite for half of that etc..

It is so easy to keep clean and it is very comfy! If it is chilly in the house a throw works great to wrap up in and watch TV Your house is going to look beautiful!

As for the lovely girl your poor brother was dating~ I hope she stays long gone- she sounds like the bunny boiling type to me!!! (There seems to be alot of those around lately) Must be a full moon or Jupiter aligning!

Brianne, I didn't know if you were referring to mine or Allie's comforter? They were both more than I wanted to spend, mine was a 9 piece set with the comforter, 2 pillow shams, 2 Euro shams, dust ruffle(which I probably won't be able to use because of how the bed is made, you wouldn't see it) and 3 matching decorative pillows and it was 7ish. Allie's was 3ish.
