We've finished the basement!!!!
coasterqueen wrote: Well..it's almost finished, lol. The carpet layers have to come back and lay a piece on the landing near the stairs that they forgot and the bar will not be completed til around mid September but everything else is DONE!!!
I don't have pictures of the finished product but I will try to remember to take some tonight and post them .
I'm so glad we are done because tiredness is setting in with this pregnancy and I can barely stay awake at night let alone work on the basement, lol.
We do have to put things down in the closets yet. Also we aren't going to decorate at this time because of finances, but DH said we can get some cheap futon couches and tables to put down there for now until we can afford furniture. Since the basement won't be used so much right now except for storage that is fine with me.
5littleladies replied: Yay!!!! I'll bet you are so relieved! I wish we were done. We just keep getting delayed. We have to be done in 3 weeks though so there is an end in sight!
Now you get to sit back and relax. Take care of yourself-Get lots of rest!
Guest replied: YIPPPEEEE now what will you do?
coasterqueen replied: LOL! Well...we have a lot of touch up to do on the rest of the house because we had the drywallers fix things in the house when they did the basement. So I have drywall mud all over the walls that need to be repainted, lol. And we have abused our house so badly while working on the basement so we need to do a thorough cleaning of it..dust is everywhere. AND the outside of the house has been abused this year and needs upkeep done on it...so of course we are never finished with anything. ROFL. THere's always something when you own a home.
MomToMany replied: HOORAY!! I'm glad that you guys finally got it done! Can't wait to see pics!! Hopefully next year we weill be getting a new house with a full basement. DH & I will be finishing it off, though (well, mostly DH, LOL). We're planning on puting 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and an office for DH down there. The laundry will go down there as well. Then whatever room is left will be the play-room, where ALL the toys will be. We're hoping to make it into a walk-out, but not too sure yet. We had our house picked out already (we're getting a new double-wide), but had a heck of a time finding financing. Our bank said they would do it, but the payments would've been on the high side of what we wanted them to be. So, we're going to wait a year, then try to pay more on our mortgage now so the payments won't be so high.
Hopefully it will happen next year for us!!

DansMom replied: Woo hoo!! Congratulations!!
kit_kats_mom replied: Awesome Karen! Who needs furniture? I'd just lounge around on the new carpet luxuriating in the extra space. LOL
coasterqueen replied: That will be awesome! Sounds great. We didn't want a walk-out at first because we didn't want to deal with possible leaking, but now we kinda wish we would have, lol. We can't put any permanent bedrooms down there because we have no windows, but for what we need it for it works. Our house had to be built up so the portion of land right outside the back of our house (well one corner) is sloped and it would take a lot of work to do a walk-out and level that ground properly. We were and are to lazy for that, lol.
coasterqueen replied: LOL. That is so funny you said this. My dad came by last night to look at the basement and he said "man this basement is HUGE". I was like.."uh dad, as soon as you put any amount of furniture in here it will look small." Which is so true. DH said we should just not put anything down there and just admire the big space we have. The rest of the house looks so small compared to what we thought it was going to be like as soon as we put furniture in it, lol.
Boys r us replied: I can't wait to see the final product!!! Be sure you take those pictures before you go to sleep on us tonight!
