We're back - and exhausted!
Schnoogly wrote: Why didn't you tell me how exhausting it is to travel with a baby? Wait, I knew it was, just not prepared for the reality. It might have been easier if it had been cooler than 100 freaking degrees. The wedding was outside, in the late afternoon/evening (Hello? Outside in August???) and we were HOT and TIRED. Iain did OK on the trip mostly, though we did have to stop a lot. He took some nice long naps in the car though, thankfully. I am just exhausted, between taking care of him and doing bridesmaid stuff and driving. I could sleep for a week!
This would have been hardly anything before we had him...people kept asking if I was OK and I said I was just tired because everything is 5 times as hard and takes 5 times as long when you have a baby!!
Also there was another mom with a 3 month old, and they just took him to Yellowstone! Are they crazy?? He was at the rehersal dinner (and Iain was with DH at the hotel sleeping) and was fine with all the noise at the reception...maybe he's one of those angel babies I keep hearing about! We had a nice talk about whether oversupply or undersupply was worse--she has had mastitis 3 times because she has so much milk she keeps getting plugged ducts. She said she can pump 6oz from EACH breast every 2 hours! (And she had tiny breasts, BTW, so keep that in mind small busted women--doesn't mean you can't BF!) I said that's as much milk as I pump in an ENTIRE DAY!! I am so jealous!
Also after we got home last night DH and I were vegging on the floor watching TV and Iain was playing and he went right up to our big cat (the one who lets him hug & pull on him) and Calvin just took a swipe at him and scratched his face! I couldn't believe it! The cat must have been ticked off for being left all weekend. I felt so bad for Iain, he just screamed! It was just a tiny nick though, but now I have to be extra careful when that cat is around.
Iain is crawling big time now--he was going forward before we left, but not that fast. But he loved our hotel room so much he wanted to explore it and now he crawls so fast he gets half standing to make himself go faster! He is pulling up all over the place too!
Here are some pics. Iain was asleep right before the ceremony started--I thought I might be carrying a sleeping flower boy down the aisle, but he woke up right before it started
Schnoogly replied: Just before we walked down
Schnoogly replied: sleeping flower boy
Schnoogly replied: here he is playing on the grass at one of our many rest stops!
Schnoogly replied: finally, standing on the couch in the hotel room!
Heather replied: AWw Looks like he enjoyed himself despite the exhausting ride! Glad you made it through though!! YAY for the crawling! So exciting isn't it! Now you are going to be all over the place with exhaustion! So sorry to hear about what hte kitty did. Poor little guy. You are probably right, cat probably was pissed.
Hope you get some rest soon!! Glad to have you back!
amynicole21 replied: Welcome back! Sounds like a full trip. Lots of nice bonding time, I bet. About the cat, mine is a royal pain in the butt and always swipes at Sophia... I really don't know what to do other than try to keep them apart. Unfortunatly, Sophia just LOOOOVES the key ka (kitty cats). Ugh!
BTW, Iain looked ADORABLE in his little suit
kit_kats_mom replied: What a handsome fella and mommy! Yes, we are going to try to make our vacations short until Katherine can stay with YaYa and Poppy for awhile. That trip to Vancouver about did me in.
supermom replied: From the looks of it, Iain is no worse for wear.....and glad to see that you survived the trip with as little damage as possible. Sounds like most stuff went off without a hitch, and that is a good thing. Now take it as easy as possible, and rest up for a bit before you are off to tackle new and more exciting adventures.
maliksmommy replied: Glad to hear that things went pretty good! The pictures are great. I know what you mean about exhausting, I took Malik out of town for a wedding by myself and I was so worn out when we got back home.
Guest replied: Welcome back!! Looks like you all had a good time. He is just so adorable. Love the sleeping flower boy pic!
coasterqueen replied: Last reply was from me! Forgot to sign in.

MommyToAshley replied: You both looked great all dressed up! I said this in the August Photo Assignment thread, but I can't believe how BIG Iain is getting!!!! Congrats on the crawling too... there will be no stopping him now!
