Well that sucks. - re hand lotions

mom89 wrote: So a couple wks. ago or so I was asking you all for recommendations for a good hand lotion. Well someone suggested something by aveeno w/oatmeal. Well I got some of that-but instead I accidently got the moisterizure. OK,fine.
So I started using it and a few days later,I noticed blisters on my fingers. (not all of them tho)like maybe 5 or 6 of them ohmy.gif .
So at the time I didn't think much of it so I continued using it and the blisters continued. ugh. So after about a week,I stopped using it because it didn't seem like it was getting any better-just worse!
So after a few days of not using it,the blisters went away. Still,I didn't think much of it.
Then over a week later or so,I decided to start using it again. Now this time I had only applied the stuff on my hands TWICE during the day(as opposed to the 3-4 times I was putting it on-just as it recommended)so the next morning, you guessed it-I had more blisters!! so FINALLY I put two and two together and realized that the moisterizing stuff i had been using was causing the blisters!! ohmy.gif Never in my life have I had a reaction to something. Well thats a first.
$10 down the drain. Oh well.

I think from now on I'll just stick with the vaseline. That seems to be doing ok for my hands.

TeagansMom609 replied: Hmmm, thats weird, that lotion is really gentile on skin. I know I have SUPER sensitive skin and I use it and im ok. Are your hands really chapped? Because if they are no matter what lotion you use it could irritate them. When mine are really chapped and I put lotion on they get red, they burn, and I get little bumps. But they usually go away after 5 min. or so. Sorry you had a bad reaction! sad.gif

mom89 replied: Yea I thought it was pretty weird too. I've tried tons of lotions and none of them have done this.
OH well,thats life.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: My favorite lotion for my hands is Vaseline Healthy Body Complexion. I don't know why but it's the only lotion I've ever been able to find that works on my hands - I used to have really dry cracked hands and now they're nice and soft. thumb.gif Other lotions have made my hands break out in rashes from the perfume in them but this one doesn't. It's not greasy and you don't need a lot... it's cheap too. tongue.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
LOL I just realized I sounded a bit like a commercial! blush.gif It really does work though! wink.gif

ediep replied: oh man, that really stinks! I would definately return it though, you should be able to at least get something else

A&A'smommy replied: Uh yikes that sucks!! Have you ever tried mary-kay I use/sell and LOVE it I have sensitive skin to, although probably not as sensitive as yours but it works great.

mom89 replied: LOL Sara!! laugh.gif

mom89 replied: No,I can't return it-wish i could though.
Its a moisturizer-not a lotion. Which means it doesn't come in a pump. but rather a jar. *sigh* oh well.

Queen-of-the-Testosterone-Castle replied: Hmmm.... that DOES stink!! Don't know if you have ever tried any lotion with Shea Butter in it, but it is the BOMB! I know Bath & Body Works sells some, but I think it is becoming more widely used, so I'm sure you can buy something similar to it at WM nowadays as well... Only thing about the B&BW stuff is that it is perfumed, and if I use it when my hands are chapped (as opposed to just being dry), it burns like wildfire when I put it on... They also make a lip balm with Shea Butter that is GREAT!

OH!! I just remembered that my mom uses something called "Udder Cream" for her dry/chapped hands, and she swears by it! It says on the container that you can use it on cow's "teats" blink.gif .. (is that the right word!?!? LOL), but that is something altogether different I do believe!! ROFLMBO.... The udder cream comes in a black & spotted jar.

Anyway, good luck! smile.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I have really sensitve skin as well and the only lotions I've been able to are Vasline, unscented and Keri lotion. I was so worried when I got my tattoo, I had to buy lubriderm lotion, it's unscented so it seems to be okay. I have such dry hands because where I am working (in the Clubhouse Kitchen) I always have to wash my hands and put hand sanitizer on. So my hands are in awful shape! I have had the blisters happen on not just my hands, but on my legs as well! I'm sorry you had to spend all that money on the hand cream! grouphug.gif

party-of-six replied: Clinique sells an AWESOME lotion with Shea butter in it. I could not believe the difference between how that lotion made my hands feel and the aquaphor I have been using. Incredible.....definately worth looking into.

As for the other crap, I would not only return it, I would call the company and let them know of the reaction you had. Perhaps there is something wrong or contaminating the batch your bottle was filled from.

I love that stuff....Udderly Smooth Cream
