Well I almost died and was murdered all in 1 day - This will teach you a safety lesson~!
TANNER'S MOM wrote: Okay, I have been going to you this story since Sunday but I haven't had the time to type it out.
I almost died. Well not really but I could've. And I LEARNED a huge lesson!
Sunday night my husband and my Dad decided to go catfishing. (I really can't say catfishing, it's catfishin') at the creek where we had rode horses early that day. I decided we would take the 4 Wheelers and me and the kids would ride them. There are tons of good muddin' trails on the other side of the creek. Notice I said other side of the creek. Meaning we had to cross the creek. DH drove his truck across it, and I followed on our big 4 wheeler, and Tiffany drove across on hers. There is a gravel bar, and as long as you stay on the gravel bar then you are fine.
So, we go muddin and have a good ole time. It's starting to get dusk and I tell Dh that I am taking the 4 Wheelers back across while I can still see. So, me and Tiffany take off and we are going to wade back across before dark. I was moving along and I hit a huge ROCK that I couldn't see over the water coming off the side of the 4 Wheeler. The rock was HUGE that he got me up on 2 wheels side ways and my spark plug got wet and it killed it. Well when it killed it, the water was swift and I was being washed away. So, I jumped off and was trying to hold the 4 wheeler, big 350 4x4 against the current. Well that wasn't going so well. I thought I was going to have to let it go, but suddenly it wasn't floating anymore, BECAUSE it was sinking!!!!!
Tiffany went for help, but Dh can't swim. But he HAD to come. Were I was the water wasn't deep but it was swift. It was up to our waist but he was scared b/c of how deep it was! But he was okay and we had to hook a chain onto the other 4 Wheeler to drag the sinking one out. So, we get it out and guess what IT"S DARK. And the truck and kids on the other side of the creek! And again I repeat DH can't swim! I was shaking so bad, I couldn't drive if I had too. I was bawling like a baby! I mean I was almost washed away, down the RIVER!
So, Dh tells me to walk about 5 foot ahead of him, and try to stay on the gravel bar. That way he can follow right behind me and if he drops off he will know NOT to step there. And that went fine until a stick floated against the back of DH's leg, and I am telling you he CAN WALK ON WATER He took off running in the water and passed me and was in the truck before I even got across the river. I guess he was going to leave me for snake food! That part was pretty funny!
So, as you can see I just sunk a $8000.00 4 Wheeler that is only 2 years old! I didn't know DH could cuss so bad. I thought he was going to kill me. He was SCARED that I had been hurt that he was just beside himself.
So, we get it home and drain all the water and try to start it. Of course NOTHING. DH stayed up until 1 in the morning BUT thank god he finally got running! But it was rough sounding!
The next day he calls me at work and tells me the motor locked up b/c it got water in the oil etc. He called the insurance and warranty and they wouldn't cover it etc. He had me almost in tears. Then he told me he cleaned the carburator and dried the water out of the gas and it ran perfect!! I was mad at him for that one!
When I went to lunch my Dad called me and asked where I was. I said in town, why? He said can you go by Lowe's and get some angle iron? I said what for? He said I am going to mount some oars or a trolling motor on you 4 Wheeler! I hung up on him! I see no humor in that.
But I for one will never cross the creek again! For now on I am going to be HORSEBACK~!!!! They can SWIM!
sparkys2boys replied: Glad that you are all ok! And holy what a time that was..lol. I can just imagine it was not so funny at the time though!
kimberley replied: i am glad everything turned out okay. that must have been scary!
Mel, you are a great story teller! lol when i got to "can walk on water" i nearly woke the house lol.
mckayleesmom replied: I would have dropped the 4 wheeler..

gr33n3y3z replied: LOL I bet watching your dh run for life was funny I would have busted a bladder laughing so hard at him
I'm glad you are ok and the 4 wheeler is running again to Randy
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I still say all good 4 wheelers have been sunk at least once! I am glad he got it running again...tell him I said he is so smart!
lisar replied: I have to laugh. But I was gona say I have sunk more that one 4-wheeler. And we normally just have to clean them out and they run again. Rough for a few days but then it work it all out of the system. Do you have a wench? Just curious. Normally when we get stuck (not in a flowing creek) we will thro the wench to someone on the other side and hook it to another 4-wheeler and wench our selves out that way.
But it is kinda funny about your DH walking on water.
My2Beauties replied: Mel I laughed so hard about your DH walking on water! HILARIOUS STUFF! I bet you were scared, I'm glad all is well and at least you can look back on this and laugh and no one was seriously injured.
A&A'smommy replied: Great story Mel!! I'm glad your ok and your 4wheeler too!!
TANNER'S MOM replied: We do have a winch, but from where I was at, there was no one to throw it too! Tiffany wouldn't have known what to do, and Dh couldn't see me at all. He couldn't even here me yelling help! It was bad with the river flowing. I learned a lesson!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: That must have been so terrifying for you! I'm so glad that you are okay!
MommyToAshley replied: Oh gosh, how scary!!! I'm glad you are ok.
seeingblue2 replied: Dang I would have freaked! Glad everyone ended up safe!

redchief replied:
