Well Amby bed didn't go so well
coasterqueen wrote: Well we tried out the Amby bed for Megan last night and it didn't go so well. I got her in a good sleep and laid her down in it. I put her down at 9:30 pm last night and I had just gotten in to bed at 10:30 pm and was quickly dozing off and she started to stir. Within 10 minutes she was in a full-out scream. So there went my hopes of sleeping peaceful and alone. I brought her to bed with me and nursed her. I tried to stay awake to put her back in there.....ended up waking up at 1:30 am with my breast feeling a bit cold..she puked all over it. At least she let me sleep til 1:30 which is something she doesn't do. Got us both cleaned up, nursed her and went back to sleep where then she woke up at 4 am when she puked all over us again. We've been awake ever since.
I guess I'll try the bed today and see how she does for naps. Right now she's napping on me in her sling. I really hope this bed works for the $250 I paid for it. Hard to believe I thought this baby would be a good sleeper and convinced DH that we'd get good use out of the new crib bedding/nursery decor for her. Oh well...money grows on trees, right?
Kaitlin'smom replied: ahhh that stinks, what is a amby bed?
sorry she did not do well, maybe naps will be a better place to start.
coasterqueen replied: I don't have a pic of Megan's yet. I need to do that yet. They are supposed to help promote better/safer sleep and supposed to work well for babies who don't sleep well or have reflux/colic. Here's one:
3_call_me_mama replied: better luck with the naps! hugs to you!
kimberley replied: aww hon i am sorry you didn't get much sleep last night but give the amby a chance. it may take her a few tries to get used to it but don't give up hope. sending ~~~sleepy vibes~~~~ to Megan!
jcc64 replied: Have you tried letting her sleep in the infant seat on the floor next to your bed- I've heard that babies with colic do better in an upright position.
Kaitlin'smom replied: ahhh look kinda like a hammock.
maybe she just needs time to adjust to it.
hope the nap goes better
jem0622 replied: Keep trying. At least she gave you somewhat of a break that you didn't have before!
HUGS
A&A'smommy replied: OMG Karen that has got to be SO frustrating I agree with the others keep trying and maybe she will start to like it! (((((HUGS)))))
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Aw I'm sorry it didn't work out last night!! Hopefully tonight and the naps will go better!
DansMom replied: I've heard great things about those Amby beds too---sorry that didn't do the trick. I've heard the carseat sleeping is good for colicky babies too---worth a shot maybe. Sorry you're still struggling to get some rest.
kit_kats_mom replied: Dang. You guys are not having a good go at it are you? Sorry. I KWYM about the crib too. So far Lauren will take short naps in it but other than that, it has been used as a giant diaper changing spot.
amynicole21 replied: I agree, don't give up on the amby yet! It may take a few tries.
Nora's still sleeping on my chest while I sleep on the couch - I really hope I can get her to sleep for longer stretches in her bassinet. I'm so tired
coasterqueen replied: Yep, done that. She stirs like crazy in it. She sleeps best curled up against me in bed but that makes her REALLY congested and then makes her cranky.
coasterqueen replied: Very true. I'm actually in a good mood, I feel like I got a bit of sleep for once.
coasterqueen replied: Megan's crib has been the cats bed lately.
coasterqueen replied: Oh I'm not giving up on it yet..that thing cost too much. I've just heard people after people tell me the first night they put their babies in there they slept a lot longer. LIARS! j/k.
Megan sleeps so much better on my chest too but it scares me to do this when I'm asleep. Afraid she'd fall off me or smother.
I just keep telling myself that Megan is only 7 weeks old which is 3 weeks adjusted so it just might take her a bit longer to do certain things, sleep being one of them.
chloe&tysmommy replied: aww Karen, I feel so bad for you b/c I remember the days of being up most of the night and having to entertain a toddler throughout the day. It can be so hard at times but it does get better
sending lot of ~~~~sleepy vibes~~~~ for Megan tonight
Emeraldsmom replied: I'm so sorry. I hope it goes better tonight. When Emi was first born, I found out about the bed, and I wanted it soo bad for her, But DH said no way cuz it costs so much, and what if it didn't work. I remember I was mad at him because I was sure it would work. Well, if I were you I would keep trying. Good luck!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I feel your pain (kinda...I didn't have a toddler at the time) It was not uncommon for Katy to be up and crying for 20 hours a day from 4 weeks to 4 months...I wish I would have knkown about those beds...I definately would have tried it. The good news is they appear to sell for 120+ on ebay so when she is sleeping better and outgrows it you can get some of your money back (looking for a positive)
