Well....

cameragirl21 wrote: Everyone who voted participated in history being made so congrats to all! Kind of reminds me of the lyrics of a song I used to love:
"I was alive and I waited waited,
I was alive and I waited for this.
right here, right now, there is no other place I want to be;
right here, right now, watching the world wake up from history..."
Hold on tight--it's gonna be a great 4 years!!

moped replied: As a Canadian......I say thumb.gif to Obama!

redchief replied: I look forward to the next four years. I'll make up my own mind as to whether or not they're great when the history has finished being made.

MoonMama replied: happy.gif biggrin.gif thumb.gif

lisar replied: I am SOOOOO NOT happy about the way this election turned out. I honeslty didnt care for any of the candidates and I had to choose the better of 2 evils. The next four years are gona suck.
And all this talk about CHANGE well what kind of change cause I havent heard him say one thing about what he is talking about all I hear is we need change.

Calimama replied: No matter how I feel about him I'm just happy to see this day come.

jcc64 replied:

Lisa, I'm sorry you're disappointed with the way things turned out. I am certainly very familiar with that feeling- I've felt like a stranger in my own land for much of the last 8 yrs.
About the lack of specifics regarding "change", I suggest you find the debates on the web somewhere and watch them again. He couldn't have been clearer about his vision for what specifically needs to be changed. You may not agree with it, but it's all been laid out pretty clearly.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: This was the first song I heard this morning when I woke up to electoral banter between radio hosts. Talk about on topic.

I pushed a button and elected him to office and a
He pushed a button and it dropped a bomb
You pushed a button and could watch it on the television
Those mo****f****rs didn't last too long ha ha
I'm sick of hearing 'bout the haves and the have nots
Have some personal accountability
The biggest problem with the way that we've been doing things is
The more we let you have the less that I'll be keeping for me

Well I used to stand for something
Now I'm on my hands and knees
Traded in my God for this one
He signs his name with a Capital G

Don't give a s*** about the temperature in Guatemala
Don't really see what all the fuss is about
Ain't gonna worry bout no future generations and a
I'm sure somebody's gonna figure it out
Don't try to tell how some power can corrupt a person
You haven't had enough to know what it's like
You're only angry 'cause you wish you were in my position
Now nod your head because you know that I'm right—all right!

Well I used to stand for something
But forgot what that could be
There's a lot of me inside you
Maybe you're afraid to see

Well I used to stand for something
Now I'm on my hands and knees
Traded in my God for this one
He signs his name with a Capital G

lisar replied:
I have watched them all. There were no "true" meanings behind any of it, and there was never his plan on how he was exactly going to make things happen or change for that matter. And this isn't just on Obama, McCain done the same thing. I just don't like either of the choices there are much better qualified people to run this country and they just aren't it.

And no offense to anyone on here everyone on here is smart and intelligent but what I am about to say could offend some.

When I went to vote there were school bus's with Obama signs on the side of them literally busing people in just to vote. I don't have a problem with that especially for people who don't have a car to get the polls and everything. However when there are 100 people on that bus and all 100 of them are black and all I heard any of them say was that they were voting for Obama just because he is black, that is not a reason a vote stay home. Thats what drives me insane and that right there is the only reason he won the state of florida. Diffrent parts of the country are diffrent but here in jax people are ignorant. I had a delivery guy talking about Obama one day in here and he was telling me how he thought Palin was a GREAT choice for Obama. OMG are you kidding me. Thats how much this guy paid attention he didnt even know anything about them. And when I ask anyone why they wont vote for McCain all they can tell me is that "he is to old". My vote was based on who had the most experience and thats what it came down to cause I dont like any of them.

If one of them would have said " I support Fair Tax" they would have had my vote.

Calimama replied:
You heard every single one of those 100 black people saying they are only voting for him because he's black?

A&A'smommy replied: my best friend has beeing singing

http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/blastfromth...doftheworld.htm emlaugh.gif

yeah I don't truly feel that way BUT it actually is the end of the world as we know it... and people get ready because the rest of the world and not the good parts are REALLY excited about him winning and on top of that did anyone realize that he HELPED raise money for islamic communities????

lisar replied:
I have heard that from atleast 100 people in the last month. I go to school with alot of black people there are atleast 30 in my class and every single one of them have said it. And these people are in college. They are young college students so you would think they would be smarter. I am not a prejudice person so dont take it that way, cause I know alot of people on here will. I am just saying I dont think thats a reason a vote.

lisar replied:
and I didnt say ALL of them, I said ANY of them.

Calimama replied:
So "any of them" could be 1..2..3 people?

Then maybe the other 98 we're voting because they believe in Obama or are Democrats. Kwim?

I just think that for you to say the only reason Florida won was because you heard (30) people say that they were only voting for him because he's black, is a bit of a stretch. IMO.

And no I don't think you're prejudice. I wasn't trying to imply that. hug.gif hug.gif

cameragirl21 replied: I know of some black people who voted for McCain...I don't think it's necessarily about race but rather what people believe in and what they want.
I don't think it's the end of the world as we know it or that the sky is falling...I doubt Obama will bring about any radical changes...our country and the rest of the world is in too much financial turmoil for that at this time.

Calimama replied:
I agree.

It's all so dramatic.

lisar replied:
we can agree to disagree on that I am not getting into it. You apparently are mis-understanding what I am trying to say. Or maybe I am not saying it the way I am meaning to. Your in California and I am in Florida people are diffrent, I would much rather live there than here.

lisar replied:
I agree.

boyohboyohboy replied: at the risk if hijacking your post..has anyone heard of any voter fraud going on their towns?
I had an incident at the polls where when I went in there was a lady arguing with the poll lady about not having ID, she said she was there to vote and that she didnt bring her ID and she wasnt going back.
then next to her there was a lady arguing and this one said, ok, I am here to vote, and then she said, can you tell me how to get to this church, I have to go there to vote when I am done here..the poll lady said, you cant do that, you only get to vote one time, and she said no, I am registered twice and I am going to vote..thats what we were told to do...

anyone else experience anything similiar?

Calimama replied:
hug.gif hug.gif It def. could be me not understanding. That's why I ask so many questions. rolling_smile.gif

lisar replied:
Yea I have that problem, I can be thinking one way and not be able to type it to where everyone can understand it. I can talk about it on the phone and and things and people will understand what I am "trying" to say. But I cant seem to do it on the internet very well. My sister tells me that the problem is that I come across with an attitude when I am trying to do it on line when I am not meaning to. She was reading this post and called me and told that. LOL

lisar replied:
WOW. There has to be some voting fraud out there I am not sure how bad I havent seen any here locally though. I am going to check the local news online and see if they have anything on it though

boyohboyohboy replied:
lisa yesterday morning before my polls opened, I head something in passing on the news about people finding a lot of shredded paperwork on the florida highway that belonged to the polls???
my kids were so loud I missed it was votes or else just paper work used in the process?

I also heard there were issues in va, where the deployed service men had sent in votes a while ago, and due to some technical error those were all thrown away and they were told that they would have to re vote, but they didnt have the time to refile and get their absentee ballots.....

also heard there were issues in ohio..

I suppose there are these same issues each voting year, and that there might be no way to make it 100% fraud proof.

lisar replied:
yea I am reading about it now.

My2Beauties replied:
Wow - Obama is not the end all be all of the world, he is a man, a human being. This is why I'm so against religion mixed in with politics - because of this man's father (who mind you had nothing to do with raising him) he's being called a muslim extremist and it's the end of the world because the bible says so...I don't mean to offend anyone - but pish posh. 4 years from now we'll be holding another presidential election and the world will still exist. We're not going to blow up because Obama is president. Now if you say we won't be around because of Global Warming - well then I'll listen.

cameragirl21 replied:
amen, sister!

my2monkeyboys replied: I am massively disappointed bc I do not like much of anything Obama stands for, but I am more than willing to give him a chance to not lead our country into a more socialist state than it is already in, to be an honest politician (if those exist anymore!) and to do what is truly best for our country, not just some group here or there.

Now, that being said, I will not support anyone from our country, whether they are celebrities or not, going overseas and bashing him in other countries (as some did to Bush), but I think as long as you're an American in America then have at it. That is what our freedom of speech is about. tongue.gif

We'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out in the end.

A&A'smommy replied:
no thats not what I said I said its the end as we know it now meaning its going to be a totally different world now.

Calimama replied:
Well the way our economy is going that doesn't sound like a bad thing. wink.gif Change isn't always bad.

A&A'smommy replied:
yeah but the dow went down again today cnn kept predicting that it would go up today

Calimama replied:
And how is that Obama's fault? I don't get it..

I'm not saying he's going to great, wonderful, perfect. I'm saying we should give him a chance to show what he's got.

A&A'smommy replied:
no I didn't say it was anyones fault... especially not one of the presidents its AMERICA's fault but I wont get into that OT I just find it ODD that they would think that it would go up today.

I'm SOOO completely tired of politics people have been SOOO ugly to everyone today, I was listening to rick and bubba this morning and was DISGUSTED at how mean people were being JUST because of different views. Has it SERIOUSLY been this way EVERY election????? I don't know all I know is that I hope he does well and if he gets the economy (not that I believe he has complete control over that) back in shape which I have no doubt he will be able to do and that he keeps us safe and doesn't cut military up too badly (anyone remember when clinton did this?) then I will be fine with this. But otherwise I'm nervous

msoulz replied:

According to MSN this is why the Dow took a plunge today.

A&A'smommy replied:
thats what CNN said too I didn't hear what fox said

Calimama replied:
Okay I was just curious. Thanks for answering my questions. hug.gif hug.gif

I hope he leaves the military alone too. I know DH is a little nervous to have him in command but we will see!!!

msoulz replied:
Oh yes, and i forgot that some of it was profit taking from the previous day's rally.

Bamamom replied: I thought McCain's concession speech was pretty awesome. He is just an honorable guy. I could tell he didn't like them booing the man who is now his president. Like once McCain lost he's totally behind Obama because he's the president of the land McCain loves and is willing to die for.

Obama's acceptance speech was pretty okay. Did anyone else notice the bulletproof glass they had him surrounded by? I bet it'll be a scary 4-8 years for him and his family. While I didn't vote for him my heart goes out to his family for having to live in that kind of fear.

A&A'smommy replied:
WHAT?? who's rally?

Calimama replied:
I totally missed that!!! I have to go find the video and re-watch it.

redchief replied: Not that Obama's election to the office of president isn't historical or significant, because it is, but I think a lot of people here have a basic misunderstanding about how politics works in this country.

Before all of the conservatives go off the beam thinking Obama is going to socialize the nation, take a good hard look at the whole picture. Barack Obama has to convince the Congress of all of his ideals, visions and plans, and if you don't think they're be moderation in nearly every one of them then you don't know American Politics. Even with a Democratic majority in both houses the Republicans can and will take stands on issues they feel are important, and they will force change, just as the Democrats did when the Republicans held majorities in both houses.

This country, especially the independent voters that won him the White House, will expect him to be true to his campaign promises. No president wants to be a one-term leader. Whether we like to admit it or not, it is the independents that place our leaders. This nation is nearly equally split between those that label themselves Democrat, and those that label themselves Republican. Without the traditional swing states like Indiana, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Florida, these candidates would not take office. They know that. They're not stupid enough to alienate those people in their first terms. Now second term (and more) officials are more dangerous. They begin to feel more invulnerable, which may have led to Mr. Bush's current popular opinion rating.

Obama campaigned as a moderate Democrat. The independents and new voters who placed him in office will make him account for every one of his promises. If he leads as he has voted, God bless him in four years, because he's in trouble.

boyohboyohboy replied:
I didnt see it at first either, then when the camera moved a certain way i did..
I think its really sad that its come to that..and I am so worried about his dgt's
does any one know will they have to be home schooled now?

redchief replied:
The glass serves a dual purpose... It is also used to project the teleprompter so the speaker doesn't get lost. So don't be too shocked. That stuff is used during all outdoor presidential speeches.

HuskerMom replied:
Yeah I'm pretty dissapointed too but since there's nothing I can do about it then whatever. But the thing that angers me the most is that my mom and I have gotten into some pretty bad arguments about the election the last few months. And then tuesday night she calls me and rubs it in. If the election had turned out differently I would not have called her and rubbed it in. I thought it was incredibly childish on her part. dry.gif

lisar replied:
I dont think we have much of a choice now. LOL

A&A'smommy replied:
Yes that is what me and Jeremiah have been telling people all day!

Bamamom replied:
I'm not talking about the teleprompters - you can see those from the right angle's as well. This is about 12 ft high bullet proof glass. That surrounds him - goes all the way back to the back of the stage. I haven't notice it before - but granted this venue would have been extremely difficult to secure.
