We had a huge scare this afternoon!!

5littleladies wrote: I was giving Brianna a waffle to eat and before she could take a bite she started crying. She inhaled and held her breath (like she does before she lets out a big yell) and she never let it out!! I didn't know what happened-I thought maybe she had picked something up off the floor and was choking so I picked her up and smacked her back a couple of times but that didn't seem to do anything so I screamed for dh (Brianna was turning blue at this point ) and he came running up and took her from me and somehow got her to breathe. I just sat down and started to sob. I thought I was going to lose her. After I calmed down I remembered reading that sometimes babies will just do that-hold their breath until sometimes they pass out. It isn't dangerous but it sure isn't a fun thing to go through!! sad.gif She is fine now-all smiles and giggles. I'm just starting to calm down! unsure.gif

shelrae00 replied: Sarynn choked last week on a piece of ice. Hubby put his cup on the floor and she knocked it over and picked up a big peice of ice and put it is her mouth. I said to him "should she be sucking on that" He said"no biggie, I will get it out before it melts down to small." Just then, she spit it out and was facing him and I heard her making a weird sound. He grabbed her up and started doing the baby heimlich on her. She had gotten 2 pieces and one was a little one that we had not seen and she was choking on it and was getitng NO air. He finally got it out while I was running around crying and all spastic trying to find the phone to call 911 or something. Her lips and stuff were blue and she was really calm so I thought something was wrong but she was just recouping. It scared me to death!!!Even though it was ice, by the time it melted enough for her to get air, she could have had some damage.

Scarey!!!

Choking is so scary, and anything that looks like choking! I'm so glad Brianna was okay.

supermom replied: Man, how scary for both of you - I am grateful I have never had one choke like that on me!!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oh How scary! I can't imagine having a choking baby - I'd have a cow.

I'm such a freak about things on the floor....geez ....SOmetimes DH leaves a kleenex on the table because he wants to wait until commercial or whatever to get up and put it in the garbage....and if I catch him, boy do I freak! I really am a spaz. I vaccuum every morning before i go to work, because I know that DH isn't AS attentive as I'd like him to be about what Zach plays with....and I'd rather KNOW there isn,t anythying small on the floor when I leave for DH to miss. Then I pass it again after dinner, to pick up all the little food scraps that have been dumped on the floor......Boy I cannot WAIT to have hardwood! (in just a few weeks!! yay!)

And his food? Forget it. Everything is either really easily swallowable (sp?!) like pasta or boiled veggies, cut small enough to be the size of a cheerio or smaller....I get so nervous when he eats a cookie, because he sticks the whole dang thing in his mouth sometimes! Little piggy.

natchie replied: that was scary but am glad she is okay .. and you too mom wub.gif

CantWait replied: How scary, I'm glad she's ok. Big hugs to you for having to go through this grouphug.gif
