We are hitting a "stage" I'm not really liking
coasterqueen wrote: When we went to Grant's Farm last week w/daddy we saw the Clydesdale horses. Of course the first one we looked at was a male and let's just say his "stuff" was out and rather huge. Kylie looked at the horse and said he has a big tutu daddy. OMG! I wasn't really for sure what I had heard and just ignored it, as did daddy.
THEN we get back to the hotel room and was changing to go swimming. DH got dressed in front of Kylie and that's not usual for him. He usually goes to the bathroom because he doesn't feel comfortable changing in front of her. While he was changing Kylie pointed to him and said daddy has a bigger tutu than the horse does. Well of course we all know no man can be that big, but I was so FLOORED! Where in the heck did she learn this and why is she saying these things at 3 years old? Of course it had to be at daycare because of the other boys there.
Ok, so that's one observation I really didn't want to know about. Then this past weekend I was putting on makeup and Kylie asked for my lipstick. I asked her why because she's too young to wear makeup. Do you know what she said? She said because she wants to be kissed and you can't get kissed if you don't wear lipstick.
She's becoming tooooooooooooo aware these days of EVERYTHING.
Also on the way to the sitter's this morning she said she wants to have a baby in her belly like mommy did and that she is going to feed her baby her milk like mommy feeds Megan. I thought that was cute, but I did explain to her that she was far too young to do either. She said that she wasn't.
amymom replied: It is scary when they begin to grow up. My son was geting married and going to have 72 kids when he was almost 4. Then the 'wife-to-be' told him "Noway I am not having my belly cut open that many times!" All of a sudden it was time to explain c-sections.
Kylie is very observant!!
A&A'smommy replied: OMG I think I kinda blushed for real I can't amagine I have no idea what I would have said but I think you guys handled that well and really i think its kinda normal to start "noticing" things like that around that age!!
LOLOL AmyMom
ammommy replied: Yeah, I remember the first time that Alec noticed that Megan was different. He saw her in the tub and asked why she was "broken". I explained it in real terms and he was fine with it. Then he wanted to know how babies got into mommy's bellies. I finally had to explain it biologically to him. I really wasn't ready for that It sounds like you guys handled it well. Isn't parenting fun?
ediep replied: yea, we are going through something similar here too . jason asks if everyone has a tinney (our name for penis)..he even asks if his teacher has one? O Man, I just know he is going to ask her one day at school.
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh ya gotta love this age so innicoent. you handled it great. I am not sure what I will so when Kait starts that kinda stuff
CantWait replied: What a ton of fun..that's just too funny. Sounds like you handled it perfectly. Now just wait for the funner stuff when she's much older
Maddie&EthansMom replied: You handled that rather well! Maddie is the same way. Just know that it doesn't stop anytime soon.
kimberley replied: omg that is too funny!!
DansMom replied: Yep, we're right there at that age too. Mr. Observation. He and his cousin Maya had a bath together last week. After they were all dressed in their jammies, Daniel grabbed my arm and said "Mama! Maya has a Bagina!" And at the dinner table the following night, he repeated his amazing discovery, in case we all didn't know yet
redchief replied: Heheh.. that's funny. That's REALLY funny, Karen. I'm LMAO.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I'm sorry to laugh, but that is toooooooo funny! Poor little Wil took a bath with his three girl cousins once and they all just stopped what they were doing and just stared at his little thing!! My sister and I didn't know what to do. They are between the ages of 6 and 2. I think it's normal to be curious at that age and to start to understand the differences between boys and girls. I would probably just explain to her the real name and explain that's what boys pee-pee out of. Hopefully you won't have to go into too many more details.
ilovemybaby replied: I think you handled that very well! I am not looking forward to that stage! LOL I will probably use the advice I learnt from Dr Phil haha
When I was four my mum found me and my little boyfriend playing doctors and nurses and guess what my parents did... They took me to a shrink! How terrible is that?! I just can't believe they did that! I think that playing doctors and nurses is pretty normal behaviour for a four year old... maybe I'm wrong... And to top that off the shrinks advice was for them to make me drink from a baby bottle! Even in public and at kindy!
TANNER'S MOM replied: Oh Karen.. I know it is hard. But you did the right thing. Don't REACT in embrassement.. just be honest.
All kids discover different sexes around 3.. and it's normal. My daughter had a little brother.. so it was when he was born. Kylie has a Dad she noticed.. and it isn't really per say Sexual to her.. as it is different.. But shocking to Mom and Dad.
And the baby in her Tummy and Milk for Baby.. that is normal too. I have even seen my girls, but a baby doll to there chest to feed it. If Momma's in the house use bottles, then they play w/ bottles. But if Momm'a use breast than that is normal. I think it is sweet, it means she wants to be like you!
Oh, I will never forget Brittany was like 6. And I was floored b/c we had lived on a farm all our lives.. but I guess this day she just noticed this.. She came running in the house and said Mom.. Mom Help..... the horse is dying.. Randy help@!!! I said what .. I got up and ran outside and so did Randy.. He was peeing was all. She said HIS GUTS ARE HANGING OUT...she thought his stomach had a whole and his guts were falling out.. I laughed and laughed and said.. Oh no honey he is fine that is where he pees from.. She said it isn't always out like that.. and I explained it goes up in a sheath to protect it from getting dirty. and then she got the giggles and we laughed and laughed..
To this day she when she sees a horse pee... she says Mom that horse is dying..lol
Day by Day!!!! I am telling ya..lol
My2Beauties replied: I'm so sorry to laugh, but I am laughing with you and not at you believe me, I am so not looking forward to those remarks and questions. Hanna (and I have no clue where she gets this from because I don't like the word) grabs herself when I'm changing her or when she is naked and says "my coo-coo" mommy! I do not call it that, I think Brian's grandma or aunt or even maybe Brian's mom called it that one time when she grabbed it or something and she has been saying that ever since Sometimes I give Hanna and Desiree a bath together just because it's easier and she always ALWAYS makes it a point to grab Desiree down there, because well Desiree very well developed in most areas and Desiree turns beet red! I think after this last time (it was pretty hard) they won't be taking a bath together anymore!
