We are going to see Dh in less than a month! - Thanks Jeanne

Although we aren't flying. We are both going to drive 6 hours and meet in Memphis Tennessee. Have no idea what we'll do there but I'm sure we'll find something to do. We are going the week before Thanksgiving though and Dh will spend Thanksgiving in LA and us at home. Which is perfectly fine with the both of us. DH wanted to do this to avoid family and he knew if he came home for the holiday they'd want him and us to be there. This way we won't hurt anyone's feelings and we'll have DH all to ourselves. Edit: we aren't going there on Thanksgiving because our neice and nephew is coming from Georgia to see the girls and so I want them here to visit w/them.
I'm still wondering how nuts I am to drive 6 hours with 2 kids, especially since the last trip alone w/them was 2 hours and Megan screamed the entire way there, plus we had to stop 5 times. It'll be worth it, though .
Now I wish mid November would get here QUICKLY!
TANNER'S MOM replied: Aww Karen I am so glad that you can see him. That makes me so happy for you.
Have you brought a portable DVD player..It might be an early Christmas gift!

Jamison'smama replied: YIPPEE!!! You'll have fun in Memphis, lots to do! My sister lives there (I guess you'd know that having sent clothes there ) and there are several things to do with the kids. So glad you're going.
coasterqueen replied: OMG! I totally forgot that she lives there.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: That's great news!! A six hour car ride by yourself with two kiddos does sound intimidating but it will be so worth it!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen that is FANTASTIC!!! I've been to Memphis several times. It scares me a bit, but there is a lot to do there. I know you will have a terrific time, regardless! I'm so happy for you. Did you say you are staying a week?
coasterqueen replied: Thanks. We will be leaving on a Thursday and coming back on a Monday night, so not quite a week. DH is putting in for a 12 day stay in December so he can be home for Christmas and New Years. I can't wait.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That's so great! I'm glad you are getting some time with him after all.
amymom replied: I am so happy for you. That is great.
I traveled 325 miles with my kids once a month to visit my dad for about 5 years. (I can do this trip in 5 or 6 hours now but not with an infant) My dd had reflux similar to Megan's that is what made my dd scream for the trips. This is what I found to be helpful. I made plenty of stops, the trip always took longer but the stops soothed her stomach. Also, I would never feed her completely before traveling or while traveling. I found (after alot of tryial and error) that leaving her slightly hungry and not full gave me more quiet time. She would cry when I took her away from feeding, but it was not the harsh intense cry that comes with the pain of reflux (KWIM). Then she would get calm for a good 2 hours or so. Sometimes 3 hours, but it was worth the beginning cry to have the calm. I was lucky because my son is six years older than her and has always been a good traveler. Daughter doesn't travel well. So sometimes I was lucky and could get an additional 1/2 hour driving time by Billy playing with her. Also I kept some towels in the car for any reflux accidents.
3_call_me_mama replied: Oh YEAH!! That will be so wonderful for you girls:) They may surprise you and behave teh whole trip. And it'll be over before you know it (the 6 hour ride) lots of kids music adn dvd's work for us on teh ride to inlaws which takes 6-8 hours depending on how often we stop:)
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh thats so wonderful, I am excited for you.
