We are back from the urologist.

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: He will definetly need surgery...of course I had no doubts about that. The doctor said it is a "Big ol hernia" sad.gif He didn't elaborate much. He wants him to have surgery sooner rather than later. The nurse will call me Monday with the date. He will be cut from one side of his groin to the other. They will check both sides. So far it looks to be only on the right. They will drain the hydrocele, do the hernia operation and then descend his testicle into his scrotum. For some reason it is still in the inguinal. unsure.gif He said the surgery itself does not take long. He feels good about it since Ethan is 'beefy' (his exact words). There really are no risks other than the usual anesthesia risk. He said he will have all kinds of monitors on him, though. They will do it at the hospital and it will be day surgery. He said pain wise he would be uncomfortable, but it is best we do it while he is young. It breaks my heart, still. bawling.gif

Thank you all for your positive thoughts. The appt wasn't so bad. Maddie acted terrible, but I don't blame her. We were there over an hour b/c of insurance verification and he did a sonogram. How boring for a 4 year old. happy.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: sad.gif I'm sorry to hear that But I know he will be fine and you are a strong Mommy here is a grouphug.gif Let me know whats up ok

kit_kats_mom replied: Bummer. That has to be hard to take your child for surgery. Good luck.

Kaitlin'smom replied: sad.gif I am sorry to hear he has to have surgery. but the positve side is that he wont remember it when he is older. grouphug.gif

amynicole21 replied: I'm sorry it turned out just like you expected it to sad.gif I know that it will be difficult and stressful, but you will all get through it fine. I'll be keeping you and Ethan in my thoughts grouphug.gif

MomToMany replied: grouphug.gif I'm sorry he needs surgery. But then it will be over with and hopefully he won't have any more problems. I know Logan was so much happier after his, probably because all that fluid wasn't in there anymore, and he was 3 months old.

It is scary nonetheless, and we are here for you. Lots of P&PT's coming to you guys that it all goes well. I'll say more the day of his surgery.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I sorry, luckily I am the one who has needed surgeries since having kids and not them smile.gif however dh had the same surgery 24 years ago and he is completely perfect now.

mummy2girls replied: (((big hugs)))) My friends son had that operation done at 6 months of age... And everything went smoothly. Im sure eathan will be ok!!!!!!!

TANNER'S MOM replied: Good luck and prayers! I know this is years later, but my ex husband had the same surgery as an infant! His mom said it scared her, but wasn't to bad on him after all was said and done! He only had a small scar.

(((HUGS)))

darrylswifeskylersmom replied: hey hun... im soo sorry he has to go thru surgery
if u need any one to talk to im hear as Skyler had a major
surgery when he was 7 months
God Bless

jcc64 replied: Hi Aimee,
I know you must be frightened, any mom would, but I'm sure from the urologist's perspective it is a fairly routine and uncomplicated surgery, something he could probably perform in his sleep.
It is better to deal with this when he's young enough to have no memory of it. Babies heal so well, I'm sure everything will be fine in the end. In the meantime, indulge your irrational fears with us. No one understands better than a bunch of worrying moms!

DansMom replied: grouphug.gif grouphug.gif I'm sorry the surgery is necessary. It's hard not to worry and feel anxious. I'm sure the surgery will go well and he'll heal quickly. We're here if you need us.

MommyToAshley replied:
Oh yes, please do call me.... ANYTIME! Please call me while you are waiting if you need someone to talk to, or you can call afterwards to give an update, or both.

Do you know when the surgery will be yet?

kimberley replied: poor baby and poor you! my thoughts and prayers are with you both. i am sure he will do just fine grouphug.gif grouphug.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

Thank you. wub.gif The office is calling Monday to let me know when they scheduled it. I assume it will be a couple of weeks away (if not next week).

A&A'smommy replied: (((((((BIG BIG HUGS))))))) I am so sorry Amiee, I know that must be a really
hard thing to have to go through. But he is going to be just fine, better than fine! I will keep ya'll in my prayers!! ((((BIG HUGS))))
