We Were Burglarized Last Night - everyone is okay

Of course we flew downstairs (I am so grateful we still co-sleep). I expected the worst but it really wasn't bad. They had come in a window, stolen 3 cameras, my DH's wallet and cell phone, a box of change and my car keys--well they used those keys to take DH's car--that's how they knew we had been hit--the criminals had stolen our car, drove it to another house--broke in there and then were scared off and went running on foot. The police noticed a car with the windows rolled down parked next to a house and thought it strange, ran the plates saw it belonged a couple of streets away and checked out our house. They saw the open door and came inside. We never heard ANYTHING. Our stuff plus 2 other people's belongings were in the car--we were the third house they hit and proceeded to burglarize another after ours. We got everything back minus some credit cards but who cares about those?

We are more creeped out than anything---thankful that we are all unharmed. We promptly installed more motion lights and had an ADT alarm system installed today.

Thank God we are safe so kiss those beautiful babies and lock your doors ---there are bad people in this world.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: That is very scary. I'm glad that everyone is all right and you got everything back. I live on an Air Force base, but that doesn't exclude us from being burglarized. We have Heidi who might be a sweetie, but she's big and has a very scary growl. We got her when DH was working the night shift so I wouldn't be alone at night. I think the ADT security system should do the trick though.

MomToMany replied: Oh, how scary! The main thing is that nobody was hurt. Th security system should really help. Burglary is unheard of where I live. In a town with less than 100 people, you know everybody.

jem0622 replied: Just glad you all are okay. I am always fearful of burgulars b/c we had a burglary on my brother's birthday many years ago. Totally sucked! Hope you get it all back without any trouble! Especially the wallet!

That's just crazy. If I was destined to be robbed...I'd rather it happen when I'm not around....what if they would have come upstairs?

DansMom replied: How awful!!! It is a relief that you slept through it, in a way, since those kinds of criminals will usually just go about their business and get out quickly. It would have been scarier for everyone if you were to confront them unexpectedly. Thank God everyone is safe, and you have the added bonus of getting most of your stuff back. It stinks that we have to barricade ourselves in our homes to be safe and secure.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Oh my what a scary thing, I am glad you all are ok. Glad you got a security system, hay speaking of that you might call your insurance agent and see if you get a discount for that. Some do and some dont, worth a try to save some of the money you spent.

This is my worst fear, because Kylie's bedroom is wayyyy on the other end of the house, 70 ft away Right now I co-sleep with her, but I always fear that later on. I think that's why I sleep with her, lol. Glad you all are alright and was able to recover most of your things.

MommyToAshley replied: OMG, that is soooo scarey! I am so glad everyone is ok!!!!! I agree, it is a good thing that you were co-sleeping. And, glad you got the alarm installed too, that should help settle your nerves. Years ago, I had someone break into my apt when I was in the shower and that is a really creepy feeling!

I am soo paranoid that someone is going to break in and steal Ashley... I have to check the doors, windows, and house out before I can go to sleep. And, I have to have the door to my room and her room open so I can see into her room. We have the motion monitor/alarm on too. I guess I am paranoid, but you can never be too careful!

That had to have been horrible...i know i was scared to death one day when someone tried to break into an apartment i lived in about 4 years ago, i was home alone and froze from fear but they left when they heard my VERY angry dog! Im so sorry that someone broke into your home i cant possible understand how you must feel! ((((HUGS)))))
