MomToMany wrote: I'm 38 weeks today, which means I'm full-term!!
Baby can come anyday now (which is perfectly fine with ME!)!! I finally have everything ready for this baby, too. I'm SUCH a procrastinator, LOL!! I finally packed my hospital bag last night.
I have another Dr.'s appointment tomorrow. I'm telling him I want to wait and NOT do an induction unless I go way past my due date. DH disagrees; he wants it done as soon as possible . I want to kick him in the rear-end !! If Dr. still doesn't listen to me, I'm going to another Dr. for sure!
I'll let everyone know how it goes ASAP!!
jdkjd replied: Good for you!! I think you need to do whatever feels best to you (not DH or Dr., sorry guys!)
Hospital bag? What hospital bag? I keep forgetting I have to do that...
amynicole21 replied: Woo hoo!! Great feeling isn't it? Good for you for sticking up for yourself, too. Keep us posted on how the appointment goes!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: YEAH that is so wonderful! Sending lots and lots of Easy and Early Labour vibes your way!
MilMunchMOM replied: This is you 5th child right?!? Wht would the dr. think he needs to induse you? They told me that the more times your body does this the easier it is for it to happen on it's own. of course it never happened with me and i wasa induced 10 days late.....BUT I am not the majority!! i had to be induced with all three of my kids.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Woo Hoo any day now. Good for you stick up for you and what you feel is best, you know your body better than any doc. I hate that docs are induce happy...I reallyt hink that htis is for there benifit and not best for the baby. Keep us updated!
5littleladies replied: Woohoo!!!! Come on baby!! If my Dr. wanted to induce me against my wishes I just wouldn't show up at the hospital until the baby decided to come. lol What's the Dr going to do?? Come over and drag you to the hospital? Is there a reason he has for inducing you?? I think when I get pregnant again I may want to be induced because Brianna was overdue and was big-so big that she got stuck. Is that maybe his thinking? Or is it just for his convienence? I hope he listens to your wishes. Good luck!!
momma2jenna replied: yeah! It won't be long now...hehe! I'm with you, I'd wait it out for sure! Can't wait for the news on your baby! Good luck & keep us posted!
jen replied: YAY MOLLIE!!!! I am so excited!!! You are soooooooooo close!!!! Won't be long now!!! i would keep your preferences YOUR priority and tell everyone else to go jump in the icy lake! That is for sure my thought on it!!! I am getting real good at putting my foot down and getting my way!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait for the news!!!
kimberley replied: that's great!! i am glad to hear you are sticking up for yourself and doing this your way. let us know how it goes.
coasterqueen replied: Woo Hoo! Let us know how your appt. goes tomorrow and stick to your guns!
Schnoogly replied: Yay! I hope everything goes OK for you. I really think you're doing the right thing. IMO the risks of induction if you're not ready far outweigh the chance you won't get enough antibiotics for the GBS. You could end up with horrific labor, monitors, even a c-sec. Even if you just get one bag of antibiotics which only takes 20 minutes to put in, that will really reduce your chances of any problems. I did a lot of research on this when I was PG because I tested positive for GBS in my urine, which means I had a really high concentration of it, and I wanted to labor at home most of the way and just go in to deliver. I have links to resources to bring the doc if you have to convince him. LMK if you need the links and I'll find stuff for you.
A&A'smommy replied: YAYYY im sending you labor vibes and easy labor vibes!!!
Good luck with your doc i hope he is smart and listens to you!!!
MomToMany replied: Yes, this is my 5th. My GBS came back + for the first time, so I need antibiotics when I'm in labor. The hospital is an hour away, and my labors are about 5 hours long. Dr. thinks it's best to do an induction for these reasons. I don't think it's necessary. I've been induced before, and it wasn't a very good experience. I've had an all-natural birth with my DD which was wonderful. I want that again, if possible.
MomToMany replied: Yes, I would like more info in this! It's weird to me that I tested + after being negative so many times.
I'll take whatever you can get!
Thanks Steph!!!
MommyToAshley replied: Congrats on making it full term!!
And, good for you for sticking up for what you want. Sending you some early and easy labor vibes. I can't wait to hear all the details!!
CantWait replied: wooooohooooo, only 2 more weeks to go I can't wait to meet your little bundle of joy
Melissa replied: Congrats on Making if full term. How exciting.
Schnoogly replied: OK, here is some info. Basically there are things you can do to avoid infecting the baby.
1. no vaginal exams before labor, and few as possible during labor. This spreads the GBS up into your body towards the baby's head. NO stripping of membranes--this puts the bacteria into the amniotic sac!
2. No internal monitors to prick the scalp and infect that way.
3. Be careful that everyone washes their hands before handling the baby afterwards.
You are at pretty low risk b/c you've never tested positive before (it's common to test negative one time, positive the next). High risk=ruptured membranes longer than 18 hours, maternal fever during labor, preterm labor, GBS in urine, previous GBS positive pregnancy.
Here is a linkhttp://www.midwife.org/prof/display.cfm?id=258
Basically it says that one bag of ABs 4 hours prior to birth is plenty. So if you can get there ASAP you should *just* make it. And who knows, this labor might be longer. Even after only two hours, 90% of the strep bacteria has been killed. So even if you get there 2 hours before the birth you've really cut your chances down to nothing. I'm looking for a source for this statistic.
MomToMany replied: Thank you Steph! I really appreciate it!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: WooHooo!!!!! WTG on making it full term!! I am proud of you for sticking up for yourself. I also came back + for GBS. I will be induced with the version on Friday anyway. Not my first choice by far, but the safest at this point IMO.
Best of luck to you Mollie!! You don't have much longer to go! I can't wait to find out what you are having!!
