Volunteering..Do you do it?

mommymommy wrote: I truly miss volunteering and want to get back into it..But between working part time and staying at home with my little one, I am having a hard time getting back into it..
I was just wondering if any other moms are volunteering and if so, how do you make it fit into your schedule?
Any advice would be great!!

lisar replied: I cant do it. I just dont have the time at all. Going to school and with the kids, and the dh working a second job. I would love to but just dont have time.

luvmykids replied: I do volunteer but it's at church where they make it very easy tongue.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I volunteer at our church a lot (so does Troy), but our church also does community projects and such so even though someone is volunteering "for" church, it doesn't necessarily mean they are volunteering "at" church, KWIM? I help lead worship band, am on the worship arts committee, put together special performances for service, help in the nursury, teach VBS, and few other things. Troy does the mixing board for the band, teaches Awana, and ushers. Recently our church just did a community action project for the Women's Shelter, if my memory serves me correctly (could be something similar to it, can't remember the exact one).

Our Lil' Family replied:
Me too...they provide child care!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I do when I can, I want to do more though. I am thinking in a few years I will be able to do much more.

jcc64 replied: Dh and I are heavily involved in youth sports, which actually involves much much more than just coaching. We fund raise for underprivileged kids who want to play but can't afford the fees, and there's quite a bit of unofficial social work involved as well. It's a labor of love- for some of these kids, it's the only positive thing in their lives.

blondemom replied: I have volunteered when I was a full time RN. I volunteered at the nursing home I worked for during their outings with the residents. I would love to volunteer again, being a single mom makes that hard at times.

redchief replied: I volunteer just a little bit. emlaugh.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I have in the past. I volunteered for a year as Activities Coordinator for my MOMS Club. We had 90 members and I organized all the events/activities. It felt like a p/t job, at least a few hours a day. I did it the first year of Wesley's life, which was seriously the craziest thing a person can do having a newborn and a toddler under two, but I'm often at my best when I'm super busy. Right now I can't even get a grasp on my everyday life. Schedule is up and down and all over the place, but it's been on my mind to volunteer to cook meals at a shelter or help out at Wil's school. We will see.

sunrosejenn replied: I do at church. I'm hoping to volunteer a bit more in the community this year to get my photography business going and my name out there.

gr33n3y3z replied: I always Volunteered doing something

Plus anything with school or for the community

Even if its just 1 hour its always a help for whom ever your helping
