Video of the kids skating on fake ice.
Crystalina wrote: This stuff is so cool! (no pun intended ) DH and I are going to get some put since its a bit pricey it's going to take awhile to accumulate all that we need. Maybe by next time this year we'll have our rink. Anyone else ever skated on fake ice?

Calimama replied: I loved the music and the pictures at the end! I've never heard of fake ice.. that's pretty neat.
Crystalina replied: It's like a plastic. It's harder on the blades then regular ice but you get the same effect. The skates are real. At first we thought they were fake but they were very real. The skates need to be sharpened about every day with the synthetic ice but the kids love it.
Anthony275 replied: what's that made of?
Crystalina replied: It's a plastic of some sort. The only downfall (besides the price) I can see is that because of the skates the kids get little white flakes (like snow) on their clothes and you can't just wipe it off. I would suggest light colored clothing or do this last in your day. LOL We had just taken pics with Santa before this. I'm so glad we did the pics first.
Cece00 replied: I've never heard of that....
I saw this show once where ppl actually built their own temp. ice skating rink outside (they lived in the north, obviously) & it was so cool.
mom21kid2dogs replied: OMGosh! How fun!! Is this somewhere public? Olivia would love it! We generally go to OU a couple times a season and skate and once or twice at the zoo but this looks so fun! I'm sure she'd love it!!
Crystalina replied: This was at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville (by West Va.). The woman who was running it actually took it from her back yard and set it up in the mall for some extra cash (she only charges $5 for 30 min!). She was the most pleasant woman to talk to. I could have talked to her forever. She's from Russia and her and her daughter skate and her family skate and practice on that all year long. Her and her DH are also starting a school and wanting to get people interested in the "ice". She said skating on that is a bit harder then real ice because your body has to use so much momentum but that if you can do the turns and practicing on the fake ice that when you get on the real stuff it's a breeze. I guess alot of the pros have this stuff to practice on.
luvmykids replied: I wondered why Izabella was so dressed up
Very interesting
redplaydoh replied: That is so cool... looks like a ton of fun! I plan on taking the kids ice skating at a rink here soon. But I HAVE to ask, where did you find the Cars helmet and elbow/knee pads?????
mom21kid2dogs replied: I know just where that is. We stay by there generally if we go to Ogelbay to see the lights. I wonder if she's there all the time or if you just happened upon her?
Crystalina replied: The helmets and knee pads were supplied by the lady.
Crystalina replied: She said she'll be there for the next 2 mos.
If you've ever been in there..she's located where the carasol (sp) used to be (right next to Waldon Books.
