Vaccumm - who has a kirby

Mommy2Isabella wrote: We got suckered into the Vaccumm scandle of the Kirby, don't get me wrong it is a good vaccumm, but I would much rather use my Dyson smile.gif

So, I was wondering who else has a Kirby. We are thinking about selling ours. If you don't have one and you have heard of them, how much would you be willing to pay for a new one!

luvmykids replied: I didn't know they were still around....my mom had one when I was a kid and really, really loved it. Out of curiosity, how much are they these days? I'm a Dyson gal through and through but she may want another Kirby.

Mommy2Isabella replied: Gosh we paid 1600 for ours. :0 OUTRAGEOUS! They are good, but I prefer the dyson. smile.gif I think we are going to sell it on E-bay or something for a couple hundred dollars!

MyBabeMaddie replied:
HOLY !@#$%^ thats expensive

indywndy_04 replied: My sister has a Rainbow vac that is AWESOME!!!! I used it on my car and I swear, it cleaned it sooo good that it was like brand new!!

Mommy2Isabella replied: We had a rainbow when I was a kid. It was a nice vac. Yes the Kirby was expensive, very good, but I don't need something that powerful, my dyson is GREAT!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I had someone come and try and sell me one, they got down to 800 and if I gave them my old vac they woudl take another 50 off, I did not have that kind of money for a vacumme, plus we had just gotten that. My sitter has/had one. She loved it for a while till the cord broke, that took over a month to have fixed then the carpet cleaning part went out and that still has yet to be fixed. I dunno how much she paied but it was to much for the trouble it had.

Mommy2Isabella replied: Ya, we have the shampoo system and it works great. We haven't run into any problems. We used it to shampoo the carpets at the place we were renting and our new house before we moved in smile.gif but other than that it has been sitting in the closet since we got it. With all of its accesories.

Kaitlin'smom replied: It did not break right away she used it alot, probably a good 15-20 times before that part broke. I dunno if she still has the thing or not.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: We are a Kirby family. My mother has ours and it's an older one. She is replacing the belt on it for us. happy.gif

They are good and they last forever. If something breaks or stops working they are really good to replace it for you or service it for you. The only thing is they try to get you to upgrade when you are in there. tongue.gif

luvmykids replied:
Maybe that's what we had, all I remember is having to put water in the bottom. It was a great vacuum but a little too much trouble.

grapfruit replied: Dyson here! (I LOVE it!!) My aunt had a Kirby for like 20 years. She really liked it.

I remember we used to tease her dog w/it. This big ol' lab was deathly afraid of the vacuum (it was a big heavy chrome monstrosity). So we'd pull it out into the dining room, put treats on it and watch her bark at it and try and get close. If she got too brave we turned it on. smile.gif I know it sounds mean, but it was really funny. And trust me, that dog had a good long life!
