Update ... some good news ... - (maybe tmi)
MommyToAshley wrote: Thank you everyone again for your prayers and thoughts. I had my OB appointment this morning to follow up on the tissue/growth on my cervix that was causing bleeding. I also had a GYN U/S done. They did have my pap smear results and everything was fine with it... the cells are normal. (phew, what a relief, It was a really long week as I had convinced myself that I had cervical cancer). The U/S did reveal fibroids in my uterus that are growing into the endometrium.
The growth/tissue on my cervix could be from a lot of things, maybe even some kind of trauma or an infection that healed. He even said Rod could have caused the trauma (sorry tmi ). Right now the bleeding has stopped. If it does not heal or I continue to bleed then they are going to freeze the area. And, we are going to use BC for a few months to force my cycle... somehow that helps the fibroids. The fibroids are what are most likely causing my back and abdominal pain. So, that's the good news.
As some of you may have read, my OB had me do a mammogram as a precaution. They did find a nodule, so I still have to go on Friday for the higher detailed mammogram and U/S. I am still a little nervous about what they will find on Friday.
They still don't know what caused my initial rash or the dizzy, light-headed spells and the numbness. (I had two incidences that ended up in the ER) I am switching family doctors though. It turns out that I didn't have oral thrush, so I was over-treated for that which means I was probably over-treated for the sinus/ear infection as well. (The theory is that since I didn't have thrush, that it was just a reaction to the medication?) I had to ask for the cultures for the thrush, and my family doc just wrote the irregular bleeding and menstrual cycle off as a result of the steroid shot. He didn't even suggest that I see my OB, but I thought it only made sense to do so. So, I am switching family docs. I would still like to know what is causing these other symptoms, and I still don't feel "right". But at the moment I am just relieved that the pap smear came back normal. I just hope the same comes from the mammogram on Friday.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, it has meant so much to me over the past few weeks.

jcc64 replied: I'm really glad your Pap was normal. It sounds like you are finally getting some resolution, and have a good plan in place for the other unresolved issues. I absolutely agree with your decision to find a new primary care dr- I too believe he over medicated you for the initial problems- to me, throwing meds at a patient w/o investigating the underlying causes is lazy medicine, to say the least. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your mammo. If it makes you feel any better- pretty much everyone I know (including me) has had a "boob scare", as we call them, and they've all turned out fine. I'm confident yours' will turn out the same. In the meantime, you're in my thoughts.

I had the same cervical condition but they found it due to an abnormal pap. They cauterized the mouth of the cervix and it healed nicely. The only thing I can tell you if you end up needing that procedure is that it is some painful (nothing compared to fibriods, though). I know my doc acted like it was no big deal~just freeze off some cells and all is good~so when I had pain & bleeding for 48 hours, I was very suprised. Forewarning is always better than suprise in my book!
