Update on my stolen diaper bag

~Roo'sMama~ wrote: They haven't caught the person yet, but they have footage of her walking around wal-mart. It's not clear enough of a picture to identify her though. Apparently when she went to buy the stuff though, the cashier asked for ID because she'd scratched my signature off the back, and she said she had it in her car, went to get it and never came back in. So Wal-mart refunded that money to my card so the only thing Visa needs to refund me is the $586 from the grocery store. rolleyes.gif

The police were going to look at more surveillance tapes today to see if they can see her actually taking the bag out of the cart - we had told them it was about 10:30 when we left it but they didn't see anything for that time so they're going to look earlier. I think we actually left more like 10:15.

It's really interesting to see all that they're doing to try to catch this person. I really didn't expect them to do much at all. blush.gif

luvbug00 replied: I'm glad they are all over it! good for them. I hope they catch her because who knows who else she has done that too.

kimberley replied: thumb.gif i'm glad they are doing something and making some progress. i hope they find her and she gets nailed!

coasterqueen replied: I'm so sorry that your bag was stolen. I'm glad that they are trying all they can to catch this person. How awful for someone to do something like that. I don't know how they live and look at themselves in the mirror.

Also, how on earth do you spend $586 in one visit to the grocery store???? wacko.gif

A&A'smommy replied: oh wow that is amazing I'm glad your getting your money back and that they are helping you!!! hug.gif hug.gif

jacobsmama replied: Thanks for the update..I'm so glad that they are persuing this and that you are getting some money refunded to your card! wink.gif

CantWait replied: I'm so glad they're actually trying to nab her. hug.gif Thanks for the update.

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
That's what I'd like to know. wacko.gif And according to the time of purchase it only took her half an hour to spend that much. It takes me an hour to do my grocery shopping and spend less than $100!! blink.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
meats, coffee & diapers are some of the most expensive things at the grocery store. I could probably spend that much...if I had a big freezer.

I hope they catch the creep

amynicole21 replied: I really hope they get her. Evil, heartless wench mad.gif

TsurugiButterfly replied: That is just.... ugh... CRUEL! I reserve a special kind of hatred for folks like that.

In reality, it's rather unfortunate that there are some who would are in such dire straits that they would rather steal than ask for assistance. Or that most social programs are in such need of reform that many folks have no other choice.

Either way, there's no real excuse, and it's great that the police and Wal-Mart are doing so much to assist you in getting your bag back. Around here if you report something stolen, they write a report and then you won't hear anything for a year. :\

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I really hope they catch her!!!! People like that make me so mad!! growl.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: I'm not condoning what was done it was VERY wrong adn Sara I SO hope they catch them and the wholemess gets cleaned up and you can relax a bit SO sorry it happened.
BUTl if you are low enough to steal a diaper bag then you must really be a jerk or really need money/food diapers etc. If you havent' gotten groceries in a month or so and are desparate especially at this time of year, then it wouldn't take long to spend $600 or more! Figure they may have stolen the bag just hoping to get some extra supplies diapers, formula and such for their kid. and got a lot more than they bargained for when they found cash, and a wallet. I really hope they catch the person adn that they get them help cause you really need it wether it be financial assistance or psychotherapy if you are stealign a diaper bag. I really have to belief that it si a person who is at rock bottom in their life and has no lower they can go, look at what they bought... groceries and went to walmart. most peopel who were just out to rip someoen off and steal $$ would have hit a mall or best buy circuit city big name places where they could have gotten a expensive things. Again I am NOT condoning what was done, just trying to figure out why a person who do such a thing

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
Yeah I've thought about that too - Dh said his first thought was that maybe they really needed the money. But then he said you'd think when they saw my WIC vouchers in there they'd realize that I'm not exactly rich either. And if she just needed groceries, fine, but then she went and tried to spend $430 at wal-mart.

We don't have any money. We don't have enough to pay the bills and still have enough left for food and diapers and each month we're sinking lower -- but if I found someones wallet with a credit card inside I would return it.

I don't know maybe someone really did need the money but it kind of burns that our big purchase of the night was $8.50 on two shirts for Andrew that he really needs - and we almost didn't get those because we don't really have the money for it. We were trying so hard to save money and then this lady went on a joy ride with my check card - and probably spent the $50 from my sister that I'd been hanging onto forever. It was supposed to be for something fun but I was going to buy a high chair because we need that more. Now I'm afraid to even ask Dh about still getting a high chair. sad.gif

Don't worry I'm not offended at all by what you're saying... I'm just still so bummed about this and venting. tongue.gif

TsurugiButterfly replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I'll be thinking of you.

Is VISA going to refund you for the other purchases?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: What a horrible time for this to happen, Sara. sad.gif I"m so sorry. I will pray they catch her. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: I know what you mean Sara. Some people really don't get it that even if someone else is not well off either it's too bad and they somehow deserve it ( meaning the person who stole somehow feels that they are entitled to your stuff cause even if you are not doing well they still deserve your things more than you .Does that make sense? ) HUGS and hope they find your bag soon. and teh person really gets whatever help they need
