Update on my MIL - not so good news

sparkys2boys wrote: Well she has lung cancer for sure. sad.gif We found out this morning. She is very sick you guys, her nerves have completly gone since this all started last week and she is on meds for it but they are not working. She hasen't eatin for a few days now and the doctor this morning at the hospital wanted to admit her but she wouldnt stay. I see no good from this at all, she goes for a CT scan and then they will give her the options of chemo or surgery. I really dont think she will ever get to try any of them to be honest. She has just given up already and will not even speak to any of us about it. We just wen't through all of this with DH and now his mom. He is very stressed right now and I feel like I cant do a thing to help any of them. So, now I have to sit the boys down and talk to them. Any suggestions you guys?? Im at a loss as to how much I tell them and what to say?? I dont want to scare them but I also don't want to not tell them the truth and prepare them for what may come KWIM. Thanks you guys

holley79 replied: Oh sweetie I'm so sorry. Many thoughts and prayers for your MIL and family. I have no idea how to even begin to explain this to kids.

stella6979 replied: I'm so sorry sparky. I would just tell them that their grandma is very sick and the Dr.'s aren't sure if and when she'll get better. Sometimes bad things happen to people and there just isn't any explanation for it. And then I would let them ask questions if they wanted too.
Again, I'm sorry sparky. I'll be wishing for the best.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: The American Cancer Society has a wonderful website. I know you're in Canada, but the information is the same. Here's a link to the Helping Kids Cope section. Hope it helps. And so sorry for you and your family.

sparkys2boys replied: Thanks you guys, your a great support. She has been admittted into the hospital since my first post. She was still not eating at all today and was violently sick to her stomach from the nerves. I hope once she gets settled some and has some to think about it all she will start trying some and find some acceptance of this all.

mom2patrick&jalin replied: I am so sorry to hear that about your MIL!! Your MIL and the rest of you are in my thoughts and prayers!! hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

jacobsmama replied: I'm so sorry to hear this. I agree with telling them that grandma is sick and you are not sure if and when she is gonna get better and that she needs lots of love right now. wub.gif

I am praying for her that she can get some peace and start to deal.
