Update on Spot!

punkeemunkee'smom wrote: Thank you for asking Denise! hug.gif We went and got him around 5:30 and the rest of the night has been a blur! I just got on here to update wacko.gif

He is home. His pelvis is broken The vet says it is in the worst possible place BUT that the break has not moved soooo he is inside in a kennel. He is on pain meds and antibiotics because the inside of one leg is pretty scraped up. Poor baby-he looks so sad! I have to carry him up and down the steps for the next 2 weeks to potty and PRAY that he heals because if not he would need a surgery that starts out at $700 and can go to $3500 (full hip replacement) The vet did say that he is one of the best dogs he has ever seen-he said that he showed no signs of aggression even when thay were trying to get him sedated and when they are hurt this bad you can almost bet on some sort of growl or nip but Spot just licked him Good dog! I will keep you posted but so far so good. Bill SWORE that we would never have a dog inside especially not one this big but when he came by the house tonight he was like Hey Buddy! You OK? He is so tough!

O and they said NOWAY that he could have been hit this hard and someone not know it! growl.gif Most likely thing that happened is that someone pulled into my driveway and turned around and ran him over completely! Spot doesn't venture in the road and I know he was barking at something or someone at around 6:30 yesterday morning and then was missing for the day... The vet said this is a high impact trauma injury and they would have almost had to have run him completely over and since he is 40 pounds and 2 feet tall at his back you would know if you had hit something that big! growl.gif I don't see how you could hurt a dog rigth at someones home and not stop...I would not have been ugly to anyone-accidents do happen but to just leave him mad.gif sad.gif I hope that I never have a heart that hard! sleep.gif

I couldn't even read the other thread because it makes me so sad when an animal gets hurt. It's incredible to me that someone could hit a dog and just leave him. I've never hit one (thank God!), but you would find me hovered over it, crying my eyes out. Some people truly are heartless.

lisar replied: I hope he heals up soon. Its so sad how someone could do that.

Insanemomof3 replied: I am so glad he is doing alright. Is Taylor handling it alright? Poor dog! I can't believe someone could hit him and not stop!!!! growl.gif growl.gif

MoonMama replied: hug.gif hug.gif I hope he has a fully a speedy recovery. Lots of continued P&PTs being said.

Abbie, my cat (who I have had since I was 12 wub.gif) went through the same thing, got out and was hit by a car and broke his pelvis in two places. We faced possible surgery but thankfully he healed well without surgery, so it can be done hang in there. His only issue is when it gets cold out or he runs around with my mom's cat or dog too much his hips will hurts him a bit. sad.gif

I hope he's ok!!

My dog tore something in her leg really bad when she was just a pup. Obviously not as serious as what's happened to your puppy, but they told me she would NEVER walk right again and she's now 10 years old and has never had a moment when she couldn't walk right!!! I think they have the will to overcome a whole lot!!!! hug.gif
