Update on Mattie... - Pls keep those prayers coming....

Ive been to see Mattie this morning and again this evening so here a little update.

The nurses said that last night he had a fairly good night and his temperature had come down a little after he was given his medication.During the course of today his temperature spiked up again and it only vomes down after he is given something to control it.We are still waiting for his blood test results.The paediatrician also took some sputem (muck from his chest) to the lab for testing.His breathing is not as fast as last night but its sill irregular and he is still very chesty!!

Mattie is getting lots of chest physio and his little nose is soo bruised from all the suctioning and wiping.He's been alseep most of today but the peadiatrician said that its ok he needs to rest.All the physion and his heavy breathing is tiring him out.Poor baby....

My mum and I werent pleased at all tho about his feeding tube!As you might know Mattie is fed with a gastrostomy tube.Since his operation in January..not once did it leak or even cause the slightest problem..and this is a miracle cos it has caused endless and painful problems for Mattie in the past.But today when I picked him up..there was some gastric acid on his beeding from his tube!!! I was really angry!! The nurse who was busy feeding him was a bit rough with his tube as well and it pulled and Mattie screamed in pain!!!! I was mad as hell cos she went on saying.."awwwww..I think I gave him a shock!" Like hell you did!You hurt him! He is sooooo sore there now on top of everything else!!!

texasp3 replied: Oh... I'm so upset about the nurse hurting him. It's bad enough when little ones have to be hurt for their own good .. but then to hurt them through carelessness or rough handling?

I guess I'm still upset from the totally necessary horror of IV-ing Gabriel Monday night. *sigh* Your post really shook me. I feel so bad for him, and all of you. I will certainly keep sending tons of P&PTs your way!!
