Ditto...and I would make sure you got it taken out. My doctor kept putting me off and not believing anything was wrong with mine and when Russell was 2 months old it tore and I almost died....They even told Leithan to plan for me no to make it and that they woud most likely have to put me in a coma if I did did. I also had to have a seperate procedure to get all the stones that had escaped into my system.

People don't realize how dangerous your gallbladder can be..I sure didn't. If your doctor doesn't want to take it out...Definantly get a second opinion. The attacks come on so suddenly that even though you feel like you are fine the next minute you might have an attack again.

Most people get it done liproscopic..where they make the little inserts around your belly button, but somebody messing by my belly button totally creeped me out. I chose to let them just open me up instead because my doctor said that sometimes liproscopically they don't always see weather stones escaped and end up having to have a follow up operation. I wanted it done with. Honestly it wasn't that bad...My ribs were sore for a couple days and then I was fine. My scar is really little too.

Kaitlin'smom replied: yes gul blatters can be awful it took them 8 months to figure out what was going on with my DH years ago, it was not till I took him to a different hospital that they got it first time and removed it as soon as he was well enough, I nearly lost him also, the surgen told me if I had waite to take him to the docs office he most likly woudl not have survived, he was soo blocked up, and extremily jaundace, not to mantion the pain he was in.

LeaAnn if your having problems with it now have it removed, its not really needed anyway most people are fine with out it, some just can handle spicy or asidic foods.

hug.gif hope your feeling better.

jem0622 replied: Thanks for updating. With that much pain...I'm surprised they didn't remove it. Hope she feels better soon!

mckayleesmom replied:
I can still handle all foods.....but I know some can't and they have to be on a special diet....but its still not all bad.

My doctor misdiagnosed me for a long time with Acid reflux...I started getting the attacks shortly after being pregnant with Mckaylee. But didn't get have the final attack till after having Russell. Leithan came home and found me unconsious. I even asked my Dr if it could be my gallbladder and he said that I wasn't hurting in the right spot... growl.gif

When Leithan was rushing me to the hospital I would panick everytime we hit a red light..I didn't think I was going to make it there. Then we got there and I jumped out of the truck leaving Leithan with the kids and ran for the door and it was LOCKED...I flipped out and a maintanance worker saw me and rushed to let me in...They immediatly took me back and knocked me out.. wub.gif Then when the doctor came in I told him that I knew it was my gallbladder and when he came back he said "you diagnosed yourself".

Mine was so bad that even after I had the surgery the doctor said that he didn't want to scare me,but he is suprised that even after the surgery that I wasn't bright yellow and still severly sick.

momofone replied: I Copied this:

Sex. Women are twice as likely as men to develop gallstones. Excess estrogen from pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy, and birth control pills appears to increase cholesterol levels in bile and decrease gallbladder movement, which can lead to gallstones.

Family history. Gallstones often run in families, pointing to a possible genetic link.

Weight. A large clinical study showed that being even moderately overweight increases the risk for developing gallstones. The most likely reason is that the amount of bile salts in bile is reduced, resulting in more cholesterol. Increased cholesterol reduces gallbladder emptying. Obesity is a major risk factor for gallstones, especially in women.

Diet. Diets high in fat and cholesterol and low in fiber increase the risk of gallstones due to increased cholesterol in the bile and reduced gallbladder emptying.

Rapid weight loss. As the body metabolizes fat during prolonged fasting and rapid weight loss—such as “crash diets”—the liver secretes extra cholesterol into bile, which can cause gallstones. In addition, the gallbladder does not empty properly.

Age. People older than age 60 are more likely to develop gallstones than younger people. As people age, the body tends to secrete more cholesterol into bile.

Ethnicity. American Indians have a genetic predisposition to secrete high levels of cholesterol in bile. In fact, they have the highest rate of gallstones in the United States. The majority of American Indian men have gallstones by age 60. Among the Pima Indians of Arizona, 70 percent of women have gallstones by age 30. Mexican American men and women of all ages also have high rates of gallstones.

Cholesterol-lowering drugs. Drugs that lower cholesterol levels in the blood actually increase the amount of cholesterol secreted into bile. In turn, the risk of gallstones increa
