Update from my doc visit this morning - (sorry a bit long)
coasterqueen wrote: First I want to thank you all for your prayers and ask that you keep them coming. Our baby is fine. He or she (couldn't tell yet) was jumping all over the place..finally calmed down and was sucking its thumb.
The doctor did the u/s first and for the first time found something that is the cause of the bleeding. It appears that a blood vessel (well doc is hoping it's that) that burst and blood is pooling up there and that is what is causing the spotting. Or so we hope so. She could definitely tell there is not a placenta previa which is a good thing but there was a definite "thing" on the monitor showing us exactly where the blood was coming from. So I am now on bedrest for the next 2 to 3 days in hopes that the bleeding and clots stop. If not I will have to be put in the hospital and be kept under monitoring.
My cervix was not contracting or anything..it was completely closed so she said there is no sign of "preterm labor". I guess they like to use that term once you are out of the 1st tri..sounds better than miscarriage I guess. So I have to be thankful of that.
She discussed several things with me too. One is I had to have a cryofreezing of my cervix many many years ago for Dysplasia Type 2 Pre-cervical cancer. She said that usually with cryofreezing it will not eventually "thin" the cervix out but it can over time. She said thank god I didn't have a LEAP procedure instead of cryofreeze or else I would be on bedrest the rest of the time because that almost always thins the cervix which causes the preterm labor.
Second if the bleeding doesn't stop I'll be on bedrest for an indefinite time at home or in hospital..depending AND I will more than likely have this baby earlier than full term. She didn't sound like that was too much to be concerned about. She acted like it's highly possible given what we've gone through so far that I will have this baby early, but not too early that it's dangerous.
With all of this she said only time will tell what is going to happen the rest of this pg...so things can get better or things can get worse...but the good news all the way around is this baby looks great, heart was beating a mile a minute, excellent 4 chamber look of the heart, etc, etc. So the most that "hopefully" will happen is I might have this baby early in my 3rd trimester. Thankfully they also have drugs out there to "slow" preterm labor down to keep baby from coming too early.
*SIGH* I'm a bundle of nerves trying to calm down because of everything she talked to us about I have to be thankful that my problems aren't much worse. That's the only thing keeping me from breaking down and going mental at this point. I feel so out of control of this situation I just don't know how much I can take of this. I feel bad because Dr. said I can't even pick up Kylie anymore at least while I'm on bedrest. Thankfully that's only for a few days, we hope.
Soooooooooooo after calling my mom on the way home and telling her I also got bad news. My grandmother has diabetes..been fighting it for a long time...she had problems with her meds and had to be rushed to the hospital. They are going to do a stress test on her heart hopefully today. Course who knows when I'll find out the news (no one tells me ) but they also found a spot on her lung. So they are going to do a biopsy of that. So she may have cancer.
This is all just too much for me to handle today. BUT the good news for you all is I'll be on here a lot the next few days!!!! So I'll be bugging the crap out of you.

kimberley replied: oh Karen, (((huge hugs))))! what a stressful day! i will continue to pray for you, your bean and your grandma. i am glad they found the cause of the bleeding and that baby is doing good. that must be somewhat a relief. rest up and look forward to your posts
Littlejojames replied: So glad that its nothing major. Bet you feel so much better now you have seen the little bean jumping around.
Sorry about your gran, she will be in my thoughts xxxxxx
jdkjd replied: Wish I had seen this post first!! Wheww.
I'm so glad everything turned out ok.
And I know what you are going through. With Kiera, I KNEW I had lost the pregnancy. We went to the emergency room, and I was bawling the whole time. I completely lost it in the ER waiting area. I'm sure everyone there was uncomfortable. But they looked and everything was fine and the placenta had just separated a little from the uterus right by the cervix.
So, you will survive the nerves, and will be fine. Just one more hurdle that will make you appreciate the baby even more (Like that's possible )
And if you end up on bedrest, just think of the sleep you'll get before the baby comes.
Sunflower04 replied: I am glad that you and the baby are doing well. Hopefully this will be the last time with this pregnancy that you will be on bedrest. Sorry to hear about your grandmother too.

Boys r us replied: Oh honey, I am so so so happy to hear that the baby is okay! Hopefully this bleeding will subside and things will get back to normal! I had the leap procedure done and your doctor is correct, it does cause a lot of problems in pregnancy. I went into preterm labor with Braedon 5 times! But I also had some bleeding beginnning my 2nd trimester, we found out it was caused by a tear in my placenta, with some rest it healed itself.
I'll keeping you and baby in my prayers hun!! take care and get some rest!

coasterqueen replied: Thanks. They actually do know the reason and that's why they are taking the action they are. Our baby is healthy which is a good thing and they are not worried about that..the doc is more worried about it being an issue of "preterm" labor later on.
