Update
Schnoogly wrote: Hey, folks, long time no post. I've been really busy working on my new business and sewing and gardening. Iain is doing great, he's 17 months now, climbing and running around and acting like a crazy toddler, loves to help me clean and weed the garden and water it. He is doing really well, he's so freaky smart it amazes me. He draws with crayons and holds them the right way, feeds himself with a fork, and is much more independent. He's so funny, he loves to imitate us now and does all kinds of cute wacky things. Here are some recent pictures!
Also, for anyone who is interested, we have a new website where I sell cloth diapers, diaper bags, tie dyed kids clothes, and other stuff that I make. SchnooglyWear
There is a lot of info about Iain, breastfeeding resources, high need babies, and heart defects there too, FYI.
Hope everyone is well!
Steph

coasterqueen replied: OMG! He is getting so big!!!! I was just wondering about you and Iain the other day. I was wondering how he's doing as a spirited kid? Kylie has her moments still, but we are doing better, but some days are still trying. and I hope to see you around more. I'll have to take a look at your site here in a bit when I get a minute here at work, lol.

DansMom replied: OMG Iain is just gorgeous!! I love all that blond hair and he still has those beautiful big eyes and long lashes It sounds like he's really enjoying toddlerhood. I for one have been missing your presence on this forum a lot; but it sounds like you've been very busy---good luck with your business! It's great to hear from you and see new photos of that gorgeous, brainy kid.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Awww Iain is getting to be such a big boy! CONGRATULATIONS on your new business I took a peak, it looks awesome!
kimberley replied: my has he grown!! he is such a cute little man! i am glad to hear you are both doing well. we miss you around here. good luck with your business. the site looks great!
Schnoogly replied: Thanks! I will try to be around more. Yes, he is definitely still a spirited kid. Many things are easier than when he was a baby, but many things are also harder LOL!! He is so persistent, he doesn't give up easily. And he is sleeping better, but still not great. Some nights he's only up once or twice, sometimes more than that. But he is sleeping by himself for 2-3 hours at the beginning of the night, thanks be to the sleep gods. I think that he'll just need more help with sleep for most of his childhood than other kids, that's just the way he is! I am definitely enjoying him more. Cleaning up after him more...but he's also a lot more fun. We can do things together, and he cracks me up all the time. But you're right Karen, many days I am just yelling "WHAT do you WANT???" when he is just whining and tantruming and refusing to nap (as always) and throwing his toys at the cat nonstop. But he is so sensitive and gentle with other kids, I am so proud of him. He's really observant and respectful of people's feelings for a toddler.
We are also going to TTC this summer...yes I know we're stark raving mad, but the timing is right. It probably won't take long (like last time, PG the first try) but we're going in for genetic counseling in the next couple of weeks to make sure there isn't something in our history that caused his heart defect. I want a healthy girl!! I'm obsessed with tie dyeing dresses, so I must be wanting a girl
The business is mostly to keep my occupied--I start brooding when I am not busy, and now that he's more independent I can do stuff. We are planning to try daycare at least half days this fall so I can finish my dissertation and hopefully graduate before the baby is born.
jdkjd replied: It's amazing to see how well he is doing. I'm glad he's sleeping better, I hear when they turn two is a another sleeping milestone for the difficult sleepers so maybe by then he'll be sleeping through the night more consistently. Fingers crossed!!
He's beautiful.
aspenblue1 replied: He is getting so big! He is so adorable. Good luck on your new business.
coasterqueen replied: Oh my gosh Steph, you describe Iain as if you know Kylie, lol. It's so great to know that I'm not alone. I wish we lived close to each other, . Gosh, people just don't understand what it's like to raise a spirited child and everyone around me thinks I'm parenting absolutely horrible. It's very trying at times to get people to realize Kylie is just a bit more special. They don't understand that it is possible to have a child like this.
Good luck TTC this summer! We are going to too!!!!! I hope you get your baby girl and I'm hoping for a baby boy. Dh and I have contemplated this subject over and over again about whether to have another one and how crazy we must be to do this again, especially if the next one is spirited. I told DH either way we will always have one spirited child so if the next one is spirited, hey we'll just be in the looney bin quicker. If the next one is not spirited, all the better, we won't know what to do with ourselves, ROFL, but we'll still have our little spirited one to keep us busy. ROFL.
Kylie is doing better with sleep too. Some nights she'll sleep from 8 pm to 2 or 3 am, and then other nights she doesn't sleep anywhere near that length of time. But what has been consistent for months is no matter when she wakes up in the mid of night, she stays up for at least 1 to 2.5 hours. I'm going bonkers on this and am at my wits end. I don't know why she is doing it, but if she doesn't stop soon, I'm going to have to check myself in. ROFL. I feel horrible because when she does this at night I get so unbelievably cranky at her and don't say nice things. I just can't control myself when I'm that darn exhausted. Dh is pretty good about relieving me after an hour.
((HUGS)) and I'm going to check out your page today. ROFL. Boss is away for now
A&A'smommy replied: WELCOME BACK! I have been wondering about you! I hope you get a girl I can't say they are easier though lol. We have started co-sleeping and I love it except for the NO time for dh and I. I am going to look at your site it sounds very interesting. OMG I can't believe how big Iain is and SO handsome! I hope to see you around more!
