Up date on Dr Appt. - Stereotactic

gr33n3y3z wrote: I went back to the surgeon today and he wants to do a stereotactic breast Biopsy
which means your awake for the whole thing and they numb your breast while you are laying face down on a table with a hole where your boob hangs below the table
in a device like a mamo and the machine picks up where the spots are and it goes to a computer and a needle goes into the breast and sucks out the area that needs to be done. Than after the biopsy they send the samples into a mamo machine to make sure they got it all. He told me in all the cases that he has seen 80% were neg, and 20% were cancer.
They say it can take an hour or more wacko.gif
This will be happening on Dec 8th. No time yet
Could you all please send me some prayers I need them I thought I was ready for this but I'm not
Thank you all for being here for me and listening grouphug.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: That has to be scary. Is there a history of breast cancer in your family?

There is no history of it in our family but I clearly remember the sense of dread that I had when my mom found a lump. It took a while but after the biopsy, it was nothing. I didn't realize how stressed out I'd been about it until I'd heard the good news.

I'll be thinking of you and your family.

gr33n3y3z replied: yes my mother had it when she was in her mid 40's and died at 51
Her sister also had it but she as far as I know she is ok
So it does run in the family
I've been getting mamos done since the age of 26

jcc64 replied: I'm sorry I missed this when you 1st posted. My mom had that test to which you referred. It sounds like you are receiving very good care, and I know the waiting and worrying is excruciating. I'm sure your mother's history is haunting you on some level, but every case is different, and there is no reason to believe things won't turn out differently for you. P&PT to you and yours. We're here to support you as always.
