my2monkeyboys replied: How absolutely awful....
hopefulmomtobe replied: Oh the poor baby! That is sooo sad!!! Do you think the dad was in such a rush that he forgot!!! That is terrible!!!! I feel horrible for that family.
kit_kats_mom replied: OMG. That poor poor child and family. How sad. I'm sure the parents are just distraught beyond words. What an awful mistake. It happens so much. People are just so distracted these days. The alarm thing was a really dumb move by the dad though. I mean, it was there for a reason and to just dismiss it without checking was pretty stupid.
I've done stupid things with my kids around too so I'm not one to judge. Everyone makes mistakes but this one was a really really terrible mistake.
lovemy2 replied: I am sorry but on WORST, VERY WORST day, I NEVER forget that I have my children/child with me in the car..........................................
luvmykids replied: There was a story almost identical to this one a few years back....the dad didn't usually take the child to daycare, drove straight to work and forgot. It's so sad Whats even worse in this case is that his alarm kept going off and it still didn't trigger that his kid was in the car. Very tragic for all involved.
coasterqueen replied: So true Cary.
I've been in a rush before when late for work and will drive right past the sitters house so distracted trying to get to work.
stella6979 replied: This happens so often and I just don't understand it. People make mistakes, yes, but I just don't see how you could forget that your child is in the car with you.
stella6979 replied: Here in Detroit a few years back, some so-called "mother" left her two kids in the car while she went in to get her hair and nails done and of course when she came back they had both died from the heat. This lady even drove around and claimed to have been kidnapped and raped and said that her car had been stolen. They later found out the truth and this lady only served 2 years.
kit_kats_mom replied: I've never done it because my kids are just too talkative and never sleep in the car. However, if the dad was on autopilot and he didn't usually drop off the baby, and the baby was sleeping, I could see how it could happen. You typically do the same routine every day. If something changes that routine, and you aren't paying attention...well, I can empthasize with the family. It was a tragic accident in this case.
In the salon case, it was on purpose and just plain evil. She should fry slowly.
One thing I've heard of to keep this from happening (it happens a lot in Florida) is to keep a big stuffed animal in the childs carset when s/he isn't it in. When you put the kid in, you put the stuffed animal in the front seat. That's harder to miss and should trigger that there is a kid in your car.
mummy2girls replied: so it begins.. alot of kids will probably die this way this summer...
CantWait replied: How unfortunet and true this is.
How awful I've almost done it myself when running errands and things have all of a sudden gotten quiet. You forget sometimes when babies fall asleep, I've always had the sense though to check.
lisar replied: I am with you. I have done stupid things with my kids though but as to forget them in the car, thats just crazy.
stella6979 replied: I don't know, I can see forgetting your purse at a restaurant or forgetting to put deodorant on in the morning, but I just can't fathom forgetting that my kids are in the car. With as much as I've heard about this happening, I've made it a point to always check, even when I know she's not with me. Tragic accident it was, but it definately could have been prevented.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Ok - forgetting you have a child in the car for 7 SECONDS is believeable...but not for 7 HOURS.
I don't care WHO you are... if you leave your child in the car all day in the heat, you are just plain dumb dumb dumb.
And what about the daycare? Wouldn't they have called if the kid wasn't there? I know when the kids I watch are only 20 imnutes late, I call to see if all is well. Hello.......
Calimama replied: So sad.
sparkys2boys replied: Im not one to judge.. but I agree.. I would never "forget" my kids in the car
MyBabeMaddie replied: Wow thats so sad... If you were the wife/mother could you/would you take him back? I could never be with him accident or not
kimberley replied: he turned his alarm off by remote several times?!?!?! wtf!!!!!!! i don't buy this wasn't intentional. how horrible for that poor child.
if i even remotely suspected it was intentional, i could not take my dh back for that.
