UGH!...Mckaylee should have came with - an OFF button
mckayleesmom wrote: She has been singing Christmas Carols for 2 hours straight......When I told her that she might want to save them for xmas time she said "but I'm practicing" .
ZandersMama replied: sorry, it is only funny because i know im not alone
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee seriously sings 24/7....She sings songs, sings about what she got in trouble for, sings about how she is going to run away, practices her "opera", sings about singing.
The other night I got up because I heard singing and she had the fireplace doors open and she was singing to a bird she heard...
When its bedtime we have to tell her to be quiet like 2 billion times because nobody can fall asleep with her singing.....Russell starts yelling "shut up Macky"
mckayleesmom replied: Sometimes I have to tell her to be quiet so I can have a moment to think clearly....
luvmykids replied: Maybe you have a future American Idol on your hands
youngmomofone replied: all my daughter sings is Oh My Darlin' thinks to some commercial on Noggin I think.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: 6mons till christmas!
mckayleesmom replied: Don't remind me
grapfruit replied: I have to ask, does she at least sing well?
mckayleesmom replied: Sometimes she isn't half bad...
grapfruit replied: Well that's good. You just need to get her to sing stuff you'd rather hear.
How old is she again? 4? My brother, at her age, sang ALL THE TIME Same thing. Wizard of Oz, Spice Girls, you name it. I thought I'd lose it. Especially the Spice Girls stuff.
HOWEVER, now he's 17 (18 in Oct) going into his senior year, and wow. He's looking at Music Conservatories for college. He's working at a voice studio (they're paying him in lessons) and the instructor told him she's CERTAIN he could get into any Conservatory of his choice. (she went to Boston Conservatory of Music). So, let her sing, you never know where it might take her.
You know what helped him, check around (maybe the local HS) and see if they have any music programs. In First Grade Ryan participated in the HS Musical (Will Roger's Folies) in a "child" part. Before HS he had 3 HS musicals under his belt. (A "kid" in the King and I, and JoJo Who in Susical). Often times they do a musical that requires a younger "actor", and if she can SING, they would probably love to use her.
Also, and I know this is probably unique, we have a basically free summer program called Music Warehouse. There's a minimal cost for shirts and stuff. The program showcases local talent, all school ages. I think the starting age is 3rd grade now, but you could check if there's something LIKE this in your area. Again, the music director probably would be a great place to start.
mckayleesmom replied: That might be an idea...
Her favorite artists are Kelly Clarkson and Avril Levigne
If I have to hear "hey hey, you you, I don't like your girlfriend" one more time
She had really great lungs and sometime sounds decent.....She just isn't good with memorizing the whole song.
Also..she likes to make up her own words and songs.
grapfruit replied: You should get her the Kidz Bop CD/DVDs (I'm not sure if there ARE DVDs, but I'm guessing)
Calimama replied: That's cute! Who knows, maybe she'll have a passion for music as she grows up!
mckayleesmom replied: I keep meaning too, just haven't got around to it yet.
PrairieMom replied: I LOVE to listen to Christmas carols in the summer time. It drives DH nuts! I always tell him there is never a wrong time to sing about baby Jesus.
