Tuesday Weigh In Time

Julie (jem0622) wrote: Okay gals. How are we doing?

Julie

Julie (jem0622) replied: I have decided to take two weeks off from weighing myself. I am stuck at my last posted weight (184). I started Tae Bo last night. Hopefully my neighbor will start walking with me (she back out this am b/c it was 'too cold'). dry.gif

So for every day she backs out on me I'm doing Tae Bo. I've waited long enough (dr's orders) just changing my eating. Gotta kick this weight loss into high gear!

booey2 replied: Hi, I am just going to say that I really am angry mad.gif mad.gif at AF right now. I weighed in last night and am up 3.8 lbs bawling.gif . I know that I could not have gained that in fat so I am chalking it up to water gain and am going to crack down and take charge this week. Following program to a T and journalling everyday, every thing I put into my mouth and am going to journal on the weekend which is my toughest time because I tend to undereat because I am not tracking what I am doing.

Thanks for keeping me honest. thumb.gif

MilMunchMOM replied: sad.gif i stayed the same as last week sad.gif It's my own fault i did not follow WW properly.
smile.gif I should be glad i didn't gain, right!

booey2 replied:
Congrats, a maintain is as good as a loss in my books. I agree that if you don't follow it you won't get the results you want. Stick with it and congrats again. thumb.gif

Julie (jem0622) replied: We all need to pat ourselves on the back for maintaining. And for the fact that we have lost weight. Don't lose sight of that. And you will gain weight with AF. It's inevitable. But the bloating will subside and you'll have a brand spankin' new weigh in number. Also...remember to weigh yourself at the same time of day and only once a week. I weigh myself on Tuesday mornings in the buff.

I have lost 15 lbs so far and I'm very happy about that...but I've been in high stress mode this past week (filing bankruptcy, where the heck is AF??) and MAJOR anxiety attacks. I cheated a few times. But I'm drinking my water. Water is so important.

I ended up taking a bunch of 'junk' to my DH's kitchen store and dumped it in the break room. Let it be their temptation! LOL.

HUGS to all. We are all doing well. So don't forget it! I have got to start exercising though or I won't see my goal weight until next year and this woman has plans! LOL.

coasterqueen replied: Well, I can't pat myself on the back because I gained a 1/2 a pound bawling.gif Last week I gained 2.5 pounds and I just keep climbing bawling.gif I give up. I will never get down to my ideal weight before I ttc #2 and if I don't I will be so depressed and will probably just wait to ttc #2 until I do bawling.gif bawling.gif

Start: 132.5
Now: 135.5
Ideal: 125 (I would settle to be back to 129.5) bawling.gif

I am so depressed, I just don't feel like doing anything right now bawling.gif

Why is this happening to me??? I am exercising more than ever now and yes, I think I am getting tone/muscle but you can't tell me muscle weighs 3 pounds! If it does I don't want it, I don't want to keep gaining.

Julie (jem0622) replied:

Can I trade with you? I WISH I weighed 135 lbs. Wow woman! That is a great place to be!

How often are you working out? Are you making sure that you are getting enough calories? Your body will hold on to those calories for dear life when you are working out and not eating enough. Water? Drinking your water? 64 oz + per day? Are you eating when you get emotional? You need a diversion when that happens. Are you taking items that are high sodium? It will make you retain water.

Carbs are my enemy. I'm not eating any bread, pasta (unless it is low carb and a measured serving), potatoes. The only big carb I eat is my daily oatmeal. The rest of the day is carbs that naturally occur in my fruits/veggies/dairy.

You have done a GREAT JOB. We all have ruts. Be forgiving of yourself.

Kaitlin'smom replied: well I am sad.gif sad to say I gained a pound back...I need to drink more water, been a little lax there and not eat as much at night, I have need working so much and tring to spend time with kaitlin and by the time I eat its around 8p (not good for me) and I am so tired that sometimes I eat more than I should, or not enought to keep things burning. I am really upset at myself, I so want 10lbs off by May 1st and I dont see that happing. I also so need to get into some exersise, but here again I dont fell like I have the time right now, but I plan on making the time starting tonight! I hope

MilMunchMOM replied: Karen i wish i weighed 135 too!! I am 5 ft .5 in. and i currently weigh 152lbs (imagine that). Keep excercising because muscle burns fat!!!

coasterqueen replied:
I think I am more depressed because last year when I was on WW I lost 40 pounds getting down to 129.5. My ultimate goal was to get to 125, but I told myself I would be so thrilled to be under 130, which I got to. Then I got off the diet when DH quit it and I gained 6 pounds back. January 1st I decided to do WW again, I got to 132.5 and my goal was to get to 125 by June 1st, meaning I had to lose 2 pounds a month. I am having such a hard time getting back on WW! But when I lost all that weight last year I didn't exercise at ALL! So I thought, well if I can't eat like I used to maybe exercise would at least "balance" what I'm eating. Well I guess not. I am definately eating enough calories, but not drinking enough water. I've always been told that the 64oz a day is really just a myth. I have never drank 64 ounceds of water a day, so I don't think that should change anything. Not sure about sodium, either.

I'm *trying* to work out at least 3 to 4 times a week, which is good for me because I never worked out before when I lost all that weight. I alternate between a 45 minute Taebo tape and a 25 minute Taebo tape. I am definately seeing less flab and more muscle and my clothes aren't fitting any tighter. They are feeling just as loose at 135.5 as they did at 129.5 so it's just so weird.

Thanks for the words of encourgement. I just wish I could get back on WW and I wouldn't have the problem. It's so hard because when Kylie was little I could eat like I did on WW because I would just eat micro meals or bits, but now that she's a bit older and we sit down for actual dinners, I eat way more than I used to. I've tried not to, but it just happens. I wish I could go back to micro WW meals, but I can't do that every night. UGH.

coasterqueen replied:
Before I got pg I was 146.5 and I am 5ft 5 inches too. Then I got up to 186.5 inches when I was pg. I lost 17 pounds pretty quickly from having Kylie and nursing. Then I lost 40 pounds on WW after than between Feb and Aug of last year. So I know what it's like to be in the 150's and that heighth, lol.

3xsthefun replied: Sorry I didn't weigh in last week. But I was still the same

According to the scale this morning I have lost 2 pounds. I'm not to sure about it. I really need a digital scale.

MommyToAshley replied: It must be something in the air... I gained back the pound I lost last week. blush.gif

Congrats to those that lost or maintained. thumb.gif

Julie (jem0622) replied: 64 oz is no myth. And here's why:

A mere two percent drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short term memory trouble with basic math problems and difficulty focusing

Water regulates the temperature of the human body, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, cusions joints, protects organs and tissues, and removes wastes (toxins, fats)

The body is 80% water

We need to drink at least 1/2 our body weight in ounces of water

Water removes harmful toxins from the body

Dehydration slows down the body's metabolism

Lack of H20 causes daytime fatigue

Water plays a role in almost every body function

75% of the US population are chronically dehydrated

37% of the US population mistake thirst for hunger

98% of dieters use water to deter hunger pangs

Facts on dehydration and water:

coasterqueen replied: Thanks for that Julie. I will give it a try and see if the water helps.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm at 183. Not really any change... *sigh*

But - I'm thinking of starting this new diet once Emilie stops breastfeeding... it's supposed to make you drop 7-17 pounds in a WEEK. It's what Hospitals use to make Heart patients drop lots of weight quickly before an operation... and I've done it before and lost 10 pounds. I had to fit into this dress for a wedding... heh... too much turkey around X-mas time, you know? lol

kit_kats_mom replied: I weigh in tomorrow. I don't want too.

I've had a two week period where I just can't get enough food. I've been making decent choices for the most part though. for lunch yesterday I had a WHOLE BAG of frozen brussels sprouts and a can of green beans!!! I don't know if it's a two week PMS thing or what but holy mackerel! I've also been exercising more. K and I have been going to the lake and walking around it and feeding ducks every day. Thats fun! thumb.gif

Anyway, I'll post tomorrow even though I'll probably be very embarrassed. sad.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
I hate it when that happens! I'm so sorry. However, it is possible that it is muscle weight that you are putting on. for the short period that I did work out at least 5 times a week at a gym, I gained 10 lbs but I went down 1 full dress size. Confusing I know...I guess I was/am just a bunch of blubber. sad.gif

It's ok to get discouraged...Lord knows, I'm right there with you right now...but as long as you don't let it make you quit, you will prevail!

MommyToAshley replied:
((((HUGS))))) I have been there, so I know exactly how you feel! I am staying pretty much the same now even though I am excercising. But, I am staying the same after I gained... grrrr.

aspenblue1 replied: I lost 2 lbs!!!!! Yeah finally back on track.

jcc64 replied: OK, at long last, sign me up for the weight loss bandwagon. I just started the South Beach Diet on Mon. It seems like a very reasonable way to eat over the long haul. Anyone else have any experience with this one? I've never been someone who was heavily invested in physical appearance, neither is dh (thank god), and so as I approach the dreaded 40th b-day, I'm doing it mainly for health reasons. Yeah, I want to look great, but the thing that's gonna keep me motivated is better health. I'm avoiding the scale for the time being, b/c that has a tendency to piss me off when things don't go well. Just gonna keep trying on my tight pants. Wish me luck!

coasterqueen replied: Okay Julie,

I made it to 38 ounces of water yesterday and I felt like I was gonna float! tongue.gif YIKES! I am going to try to drink my 64 ounces today, but I made the mistake of waiting til the end of the day to drink 1/2 of that 38 and I got a big ole tummy ache, lol.

coasterqueen replied: BTW, I was so wrapped up in my sorrow yesterday, I didn't get to congratulate all of you who lost or maintained! Shame on me sad.gif

CONGRATULATIONS! You are all doing awesome!

booey2 replied:
Hi, you might want to try and drink 2 glasses = 16oz with each meal instead of other beverages. I find that this helps me get my water in and I am drinking any where from 80-104 ounces everyday now. Hope this helps. Congrats on getting started on your water.

Julie (jem0622) replied: (((((KAREN)))))

WTG on trying to get that water in. I have found for me that if I just fill that beheamouth mug of mine (holds 64 oz) and I drink from it all during my work day (8 hrs) then it is usually empty by the time I'm home. So I spread it out. You probably filled your poor belly up with too much liquid and probably peed for what seemed like ages. blink.gif

BTW, I got my honking huge mug at Wal-Mart. They have them with some of their other individual cups/mugs/etc. You can't miss the darn thing! Maybe something to think about.

Julie

Julie (jem0622) replied:

Welcome to the bandwagon! I'm not really married to one program, which could be confusing for some. I am blending WW and Atkins. I have read in another forum about folks who had much better success with South Beach than they did with Atkins. I am just trying to get my BMI in a healthful range. No supermodel/swimsuit life for me! LOL.

coasterqueen replied:
emlaugh.gif LOL! I got up 2x in the mid of night to pee.

Dh even asked me if I was pg cuz I haven't gotten up to pee in the mid of night since I was pg. rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

I will have to get one of those mugs. I am sitting here now with a 16 ounce glass of water at work, but I get so busy I forget to drink, lol. I'm lucky if I get 16 ounces down in a day unsure.gif

So I will have to try harder, lol.

Thanks again.

Kaitlin'smom replied: ya I need to try harder to but I just cant seem to drink that much during the day, or I am always in the bathroom and then I cant get my work done wink.gif Oh well i am gonna go fill up my glass and get chugging!

CONGRATS to all the loosers, I hope to be one next week!

kit_kats_mom replied: OK. I weighed in and it's not as bad as I expected. I actually lost a pound. But I sorta cheated. I wore shorts to weigh in and I usually wear jeans. tongue.gif I'm guessing I really stayed about the same. Only 2.4 lbs left to go though!!!

booey2 replied:
thumb.gif Congrats to you and all the losers. thumb.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: thanks booey.
I have a question. Are any of you dealing with trying to help a loved one lose weight? I don't know how to help a non veggie eater to lose weight. Any tips?

A&A'smommy replied: ahh i still weigh the same oops but i can actually start getting out now! YAY!

booey2 replied:
Your welcome, as for helping non-veggie eaters lose weight can't help you there, dh just started eating salads when I met him and thinks that corn is a vegetable and not a starch. Also he is on his 3 week of the patch to quit smoking so I am not going to try and get him to lose weight right now but will work on it later.
