Trip to DC - Just 2 weeks away
ashade75 wrote: I am scared and nervous, my DD Brittany (12yo) leaves for DC with her class in two weeks.
I will probably cry the entire time she is gone.
She has never been away from home without me!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Awww..... I'm sure she will be fun, and she'll have a BLAST!!!
to you... we'll be here for you!!!!
Mommieto2Girls replied: Have you thought about going with her. A friend of mine went with his daughter and it's free , you only have to pay for your child. She will have fun. Don't be to hard on yourself , she'll ba back before you know it.
MommyToAshley replied: Aweee... We'll have to get together and you can cry on my shoulder!!! But, I think you are doing the right thing letting her go. Maybe you can get her a cell phone with free long distance or a prepaid calling card so she can call you often!
Hugs!
CantWait replied: She'll be fine ~*~Zach's Mom~*~
I had the awesome oppertunity to go to D.C. when I was in grade 8 for a week on a class trip and had a blast.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oops!! Talk about a bad typo!! rofl!! I was going to type she will have fun I guess....
Blame it on the baby brain!!!!
CantWait replied: [QUOTE] She'll be fine ~*~Zach's Mom~*~[QUOTE]
What was I thinking, I actually meant to post that to Ashade, ok I'm blaming it on the baby brain now....
MommyToAshley replied: I miss being PG... I miss being able to blame everything on baby brain! LOL
CantWait replied: I can see I'm not doing well in this topic, I keep messing up
.......moving on now LOL
CantWait replied: we posted that at the same time hehe
Hillbilly Housewife replied: rofl!! Betcha CANTWAIT to have that baby... rofl
supermom replied: So, she leaves pretty soon? Or has she already left? I figured two weeks from the post would be next Wednesday, but do they leave sooner? We'll be here if you need a shoulder. I remember the first time my kids went somewhere without me, it was tough, but they did have a really good time without mommy always there over their shoulder -
ashade75 replied: They were schedule to leave on May 28,03 but it has been postponed until June 9 because of the terror alert and email. So she will leave on June 9 and return June 14. Now I have another couple of weeks to worry before she leaves.
She was elected president of her school student council, so she will get to lay the wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier during the ceremony. She is really excited about it. I hope someone gets a picture for me!
maliksmommy replied: Wow! That is so exciting for her what a big honor D.C. is a beautiful place she will have a great time. Just think of all the neat things she is going to see and learn. Tell her to have fun
ashade75 replied: I will tell her. Thanks! I'm sure she will have a blast, but it's still hard not to worry.
maliksmommy replied: . I definately don't look forward to having to go through this. I am sure I will be a wreck whenever Malik goes away somewhere. We will all be here to support you when you get sad about it though
MommyToAshley replied: Wow! That's an honor, I am sure you are proud of her!! I am a proud Aunt! I am sure she will be ok... have you thought about getting her a cell phone with free long distance so she can call you anytime?
HUGS!
supermom replied: That is a very big honor.... Do you know any of the parents who are going so you could ask them specifically for a pic?? We'd like to see!
CantWait replied: CONGRATULATIONS to her!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's great.
This is a great time a year to go to D.C. The weather there is awesome. I bet she's going to have a blast, too bad that the trip has to be cut short though.
ashade75 replied: Actually the teacher chaperone was my teacher in 6th grade. And he has promised to get me a good picture!! (keeping my fingers crossed)
ashade75 replied: Yep thought of that!!! I'm sending mine with her! I will use her cell that week. Her cell phone cant go out of the area and doesnt have long distance.
ashade75 replied: Okay guys, I balled my eyes out this morning! My DD left to go to DC.
I felt silly crying as she boarded that big coach bus with her friends. She was smiling and waving and I was crying and crying and crying and crying.
I cried all the way home and I am tearing up right now thinking about it. I hope she has a good time. A a SAFE trip.
Friday can't come soon enough. I already miss her.
MomToMany replied: Don't feel so bad! I was crying when Logan, my oldest went on his first sleep-over!
Yes, it's scary having them so far away, but just think how much she will learn! She'll be that much smarter about the world. Wow, and laying the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, that's important stuff! I'm SO proud of her; she sounds like a remarkable young woman!
Wishing her a safe and happy trip, and a safe and happy return home!
MommyToAshley replied: My eyes are tearing up thinking about you crying. But, this will be such a great experience for her! I am soo proud of her!
P.S. Call me later!
supermom replied: It's hard letting go, but it's something that all of us mommies have to deal with at one time or another.....
I am sure she will have a blast, and if you get lonely you can always come here and post and we'll give you our support!!
Hugs to you - and I am sure the week will go pretty quickly.
She is a very special young woman to have a mom that cares as much as you do....
ashade75 replied: Brit will be arriving in DC in about 2 hours!! I had a MOM moment. I have already had thoughts of calling the hotel to make sure she is ok, but that might embarass her.
I put her daily schedule on outlook so everytime she is at a new site I will know where she is at with a reminder! I think I have gone crazy!!!!
Is it Friday yet?
ashade75 replied: Thanks!!!
ashade75 replied: Thanks, this is just so hard. I didnt think I was going to be this crazy. I hope I get some sleep this week.
I keep telling myself she is going to learn a lot and have a great time!
jdkjd replied: You can do it!! Just remember what a great time she is having....
MommyToAshley replied: Did you talk to Brit yesterday or last night? I bet she is having a great time... what did she have to say?
ashade75 replied: She didnt call. She must be having the time of her life because she didnt even call. I tried calling the hotel but there was no amswer. I know they have a pool so the were probably swimming.
