Totally Freaking out. - Some one calm me down
PrairieMom wrote: I am still sick. This is now day 8 of a really bad sore throat, and dry hacky nagging cough. I have been taking tylenol for the sore throat, becuase I was told that it was safe to take durring pregnancy, however I just came across a list from my Dr. that says I can have 325mg 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. I have been taking extra strength Tylenol which is 500 mg per tablet! that is almost twice his recomended dose!
Someone please tell me that I didn't do somethig horrible to my baby! becuase I am totally freaking out right now.
That all being said, I am deffinately going to call his office tomorrow and see if I can be seen. I just don't seem to be shaking this thing!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I took extra-strength tylenol with both of my girls and they are both fine. I was prone to bad pg migraines and the regular tylenol didn't cut it.
Freckled Momma replied: You haven't done anything horrible. I took extra strength Tylenol, as well.
But I would definitely see the dr about you being sick...you might need antibiotics
PrairieMom replied: I know. I am really not thrilled about it. I hate taking them. I am just getting so sick of being sick! The only reason I'm even on here now is because I tried to go to bed, but had a half hour long coughing fit!
I'm sure the Tylenol wasn't that bad to take, I have just been trying so hard to be careful what I ingest. I'm trying so hard to have a healthy baby. I was crying a bit earlier, it seems funny when you think about moms that are on crack when prego, and I'm that freaked out over a little tylenol. I'm still calling the Dr 1st thing in the am tho!
Freckled Momma replied: Well, I freaked out over motrin and an antihistamine I was taking before I knew I was pregnant, then once rubbing vicks vapor rub on myself before really thinking about how it seeps into your system, not knowing if it was ok to do...so I freaked over that and had to run shower...
It's ok to cry...hormones, feeling crappy, not resting...you deserve to cry
Hope you feel better soon
luvmykids replied: I think most of us have some kind of pg freak out. Hope you get some rest!
PrairieMom replied: ugh. its 2:45 am, and The boy just woke up screaming. i hope he isn't getting this too! now my throat is so bad i can't sleep, so I'm up eating a fudge bar. . 8:00 am can't get here fast enough.
Freckled Momma replied: How are you feeling? How's your son?
sorry you didn't sleep
PrairieMom replied: The Boy seems fine this morning, I on the other hand feel like a baked turd. However, I have high hopes that this will soon be over! I get to go to the Dr. at 11:30. Thanks for asking!
Freckled Momma replied: at that expression...you crack me up
Well, hopefully the dr will fix ya right up Let us know what he says
~Roo'sMama~ replied: My doctor told me to take extra strength tylenol when I was pg, too. I felt bad because I took so much of it too, but I'm sure your baby just fine. I hope you feel better soon! I had strep throat while pg and had to take an antibiotic.
kimberley replied: yuck! hope u feel better soon. i also took extra strength tylenol during pg and all mine are fine. just like the speed limit, they always recommend lower than you CAN actually take cuz someone will always go over
update when u can.
A&A'smommy replied: I hope you feel better soon!!!
PrairieMom replied: I'm back from the Dr. office. He gave me a z-pack and told me to get some mucinex, which I will after nap time! I am so excited to have a light at the end of this tunnel! I will probably be feeling good enough to go to work this weekend. I'm never going to get all my sick time used up!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Sorry you're feeling bad! I've been fighting a cold for about a month now. Isn't it true that your mucus membranes work a bit harder when you're PG causing you to feel stuffed up even if you're not really sick? Sorry I don't know a better medical term to describe that. So I imagine if you're really sick, it's even harder for a PG woman to fight off a cold and break down mucus. I'm only thinking this because I almost always had a bit of a runny nose with Wil. With this one, I always wake up feeling really nasily.
Sorry, that probably didn't make any sense. Hope you feel better soon and the boy doesn't get it!
PrairieMom replied: I deffianately feel more stuffed up in general too. Its so strange that everything effects my body differently now, so even my "commom cold" doesn't feel so common! I have never had a sore throat like this before and the cough is really strange too!
I am pretty sure that this time I have RSV. I had a Patient with RSV cough on me last weekend and some of his spit went into my eye. so I'm not even sure the z-pack will work, but I am hopeful, becuse right now, i really feel like I would like someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery!
Freckled Momma replied: Hopefully you will feel better SOON!!
Oscar replied: You'll be ok , when your pregnant its healther for the baby the healthier you are, everything will be fine. I had broncitis when my son was born! Good luck with your cold. we feel for you! Oscar
PrairieMom replied: Well, I am already feeling worlds better, but I am still calling in sick tonight, becuase i really don't want to push things. I am still pretty weak, and get tired walking up stairs, and my cough is still pretty bad.
I was reading in one of my pregnancy news letters that it is normal to have some anxiety at this stage. ya think?! good grief! my poor hubby. I have been an emotional wreck, and have been totally freaking out. My latest worry is my weight gain. I lost 2 pounds this week with being sick and all, so so far this pregnancy I have gained a total of 2 whole pounds. it should be more like 10. At least the baby is kicking, so I know it's okay! Only 7 days until my next appt. I think I may loose my mind by then!
A&A'smommy replied: Goodness girl (((((HUGS))))) I'm glad your feeling better though!!
CosmetologyMommy replied: Prairemom, when will u get a u/s to determine the sex?
PrairieMom replied: Not until I am 28 weeks. unless I can come up with some complication or some other reason for him to order it early. Thats just the way he likes to do things. I can't believe I have to wait another 8 weeks.
Freckled Momma replied: awwww It's very normal to be freaking out
As for the weight issue...with my first I lost weight really....When I went to the hospital to have him, my gain showed as 5lbs and after I had Alex...I was 20lbs less than when I started. (I was a tad overweight at the time, too, so the drs weren't concerned) Your body is quite resourceful and will actually feed off your own reserve of nutrients and vitamins and all that stuff to provide for the baby in your womb. It somehow finds it and gives it to your lil one. So, a lil weight loss is not a huge deal. The baby is getting what it needs. Try not to worry
