Toronto and Spencer's Apointment
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: Well I have to say that the kids are lucky to be alive! Emily was really good and helpful with Claudia, but Spencer was just nasty! As soon as Claudia was settled he would do something to make her cry! By the time we got to Toronto at 5:00 pm I had such a headache!
Spencer's appointment for the most part went well. They are worried about his weight and think that this may be a sign of GVHD (a failure to thrive or gain weight). So we have to see the dietion when we get back to Thunder Bay and have him on a high calorie diet. The line won't be removed until November at the earliest.
So far yesterday Emily and I went shopping on Younge St. and then we went to the Eatons Centre were we meet up with DH and the other kids to buy back to school clothes for Claudia, my poor girl has nothing to wear. We spent $234 and except for one outfit everything was on sale. And she still needs more.
Today we went to the Zoo and once again the arguing started and for the most part we really didn't have a good time.
Tomorrow we are going all the way to the top of the CN tower and probably do some more shopping.
We leave on Sunday and I JUST CAN'T WAIT!

luvmykids replied: Sorry it's been such a rough trip It must be so hard trying to balance Spencer and his frustration with the rest of the family
I hope the rest goes smoothly and everyone lightens up back at home.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Glad to hear you got a little shopping in with Emily. I'll bet you both enjoyed a little one on one time! Unfortunately, all the sniping is probaby a sign that Spencer is feeling up to annoying his sister!
I'm pretty out of the loop with Spencer's medical stuff, I fear. Was this an evaluation? Is he still considered in remission? Other than the feeding/weight issues, is he doing well? I've known of a couple of kids who required an intensive "feeding" program following chemo treatments. No fun!
Hope the rest of your trip is more peaceful than the beginning!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: This was just a routine check-up in Toronto. The weight gain has been sort of a problem since the first transplant. But all in all he is doing really well!
A&A'smommy replied: its good to hear that he is doing well... I hope the arguing stops soon and that they start to appreciate each other.. although if they are anything like me and my brother one of them will have to move out first I hope your trip finishs off smoothly
Calimama replied: I'm glad they are doing well, hopefully the trip starts looking up soon.
holley79 replied: Sorry to hear about the lack of weight gain, Kirsten. Is it hot up there is that maybe why the children are fussy? I know that's why I'm fussy right now. I hope you have a safe trip home sweetie.
redchief replied: Kirsten, I know how hard it is to deal with the kids not getting along. I've been there, you know? What strikes me is how incredibly normal your family trip sounds! To me, though it's got to be driving you crazy, it sounds like healing and normalcy. So I pray your children get along for your sanity, but smile that they are being normal kids.
gr33n3y3z replied: That is so true
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Well, at least Spencer's feeling well enough to be a typical big brother. Sorry the trip hasn't been as nice as it could have been, Kirsten. Hang in there, Sunday is only a few days away.
