Took Edward to the doctor - For his breathing

Edward's Mommy wrote: I finally got Edward into the doctor about his constant gasping. The doctor said he doesn't see anything wrong with Edward, but he thinks there could also be an underlying problem that he's not specialized in. So he's send us to a Pulmonary (sp?) doctor to have Edward's lungs looked at in more detail and in greater depth. He said it's very possible that Edward just learned a new sound he could make but he wants us to go to a Pulmonary doctor for farther evaluation to be positive that it's a new sound and not a possible problem. The doctor said that Edward does not have asthma because there would have been signs already visible. He also said that the rattling in the lungs is normal for an 8 month old child due to excess muscus and Edward will grow out of that. So it's not asthma. We don't know what it is, but we know that it's not a serious, life-threatening problem. A HUGH sigh of relief on my part.

Plus, I had a tantrum free day!!!! (Well, not tantrum free. Eddie threw 2 fits that only lasted 15 min. each.) It was so nice, I didn't know what to do with myself! rolling_smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Glad you were able to get some reassurance from the doc... phew, that has to be a relief. Keep us posted on what the specialist says.

Here's to many more tantrum free days!

kayla's mama replied: Glad that its nothing too serious. Hope what ever it is stops soon. That would just scare me to death.

Yay, on the tantrum free day!!!! Kayla is learning how to throw herself on the floor when I tell her NO...

Edward's Mommy replied:
I get a lot of the throwing themselves on the floor. If he's throwing a tantrum when I tell him no, he's learned that if he smacks his head into something hard he'll get my attention. Drives me nuts! What a little scam artist! laugh.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Oh goodness thats great that it isn't a big problem, hopefully it's nothing but its always good to be cautious!!!

luvmykids replied: Breathing stuff can scare the pants of any mom! KUP with the other specialist, when do you go?

thumb.gif Yay for minimum tantrums!

PrairieMom replied: I'm glad you had him seen! i hope you get a good report from the pulmonologist too. Breathing stuff is so scary! hug.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: Sorry I didnt' get a chance to write to you sooner Brandi. But I'm so relieved everything for the most part, is good with Edward. hug.gif

And I know how great that feels to have a tantrum free day. smile.gif I remember when Cam would bang his head on things too. banghead.gif I eventually stopped reacting to that, so he found something else to do to get my attention. rolleyes.gif Gotta love the tantrum free days! cool.gif

~~*Missi*~~ replied: So glad it turned ok. hopefully he will grow out of it soon.

Sounds like your day has been great all around

Edward's Mommy replied: The specialist hasn't call me yet, he's supposed to call today or tomorrow. It's almost 5 here so I think he'll call tomorrow. But the more I watch how Edward is and the more he makes this sound, I think it's just a noise he's making. But I'm going to take him to the Pulmonary specialist the be absolutely positive.

jacobsmama replied: That is good news Brandi....Remember I told you jacob had to see a specailist who was a pulmonologist and he is the one that diagnosed him with lyringotracheamalacia...I bet this is what it is basically noisy breathing they outgrow. Jacob is still working on the outgrowing part hah wub.gif

kimberley replied: thumb.gif that's a relief and YAY for a good day smile.gif

1lilpeanut2love replied: Glad all went well at the doc. Hope they get to the underlying problem soon. Good luck on that!! Yah to the great day!!
