This is horrible

I usually have to get a steriod shot to clear it up. But, I had so many problems with the steroid shot last time that I am not doing that again. It seems to be a milder case than normal, but please send some heal up and stop itching vibes for me.
Teesa®© replied: Can you not use Calamine Lotion? That stuff is amazing. Works for Chicken Pox, too.
gr33n3y3z replied: Aveno oatmeal baths are out of this world and helps so much along with the anti itch sprays you can get like ItchX I think its called Get well fast
luvmykids replied: Oh no!!! I've never had a bought of poison ivy but it sounds SO miserable....I hope you heal up quickly
Boys r us replied: Oh Dee Dee, my mom is the same way..if the wind blows or if someone is burning a fire that has it in it..she gets it!!!
I hope it clears up quickly for you!
jcc64 replied: Dee Dee, I'm a big fan of Aveeno Oatmeal baths as well. They really do help, especially if done right before bed so you can get some rest. Aveeno has a bunch of great calming, anti-itch lotions, which would be right in the same section as the baths. Hope it goes away quickly, but my guess is you're looking at a good week. If you're really miserable, you can get a topical steroid cream from a dr- it's applied directly to the rash so you won't have the same issues as the shot or oral meds.
redchief replied: Aww, sorry Dee Dee... I used to be awfully allergic to poison ivy too, so I feel your pain (the story of how I became desensitized is neither pretty or recommended). I don't have any advice other than that already given, but I hope you're feeling better soon.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That sounds miserable. I'm not allergic to it, either. I hope you stop itching soon.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I hope you feel better soon!

I'm like you - very allergic to it, but more allergic if someone burns it and I get wind of it.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Oh Dee Dee I am so sorry! I am horribly allergic as well and have gotten it so bad before it was in my nose, throat and eyes I hope you feel better very soon!
Domeboro Astringent Solution Powder Packets work pretty well. Do they still make RUHLI cream (I don't remember if that spelling is correct) but that stuff was awesome!
ETA~ You can also use meat tenderizer and ammonia (not together...the meat tenderizer you make a paste of and the ammonia you soak a papertowel or rag with and lay it on the area) for insect bites but I don't know how well it would work for poison ivy.....The meat tenderizer is really great for a treatment if you get into a mound of fire ants (HORRIBLE pain/itch and burn) It draws the toxins out so it may work in your case too!
A&A'smommy replied: yikes i'm sorry!!! Are you feeling better today?
