This is Cary's Mom need breastfeeding advice ASAP
kit_kats_mom wrote: As you know Cary started feeling bad Thursday. The difficulty breathing got bad last night (scary bad) and we took her to the ER this morning. They are keeping her overnight because she has fluid on her lungs. This creates a problem keeping our infant fed.
If we do have problems getting Lauren some mother's milk, do any of you know if the formula we have here is ok to give her?
For whatever reason, we have the following two types of formula here: Lipil Similac advance
Thanks, Grandma & Husband
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Hugs to Cary! I hope she feels better soon!
My son tolerated Similac better than Enfamil and he was also breasfed. Enfamil was too hard on his tummy. I hope this helps.
I'm so glad you were there to help out. She is very lucky to have a mom like you.
ETA: The Lipil should be Enfamil...if it isn't, either of them should be fine for the amount of time you will be giving it to her. More than likely you won't notice a reaction for a few days. (if there is one) My son had diarrhea and projectile spit up. I think Cary also mentioned that Lauren may have reflux..so did my son.
It is never easy is it?
kimberley replied: oh no P&PT coming her way . all my babies were bf so i am really not sure what formula you should use. did she store any breast milk in the freezer that you can use? i have read that Lipil can cause explosive diarrhea so be careful with that one. i hope she is better soon and can keep nursing. keep us updated.
amynicole21 replied: We supplemented with Enfamil Lipil only. She tolerated it fine, and never had problems switching back. I hope Cary's feeling better soon!!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OH NO! I hope Cary is feeling better soon! My DH supplemented our baby with Similac Advance and she tolerated it really well! I hope everything goes okay!
MomToMany replied: Oh no!!! I hope she gets better quickly!!
As for the formula, I haven't used either of those. So go with the majority here.
Poor Cary; what an awful thing to happen!
jdkjd replied: Bailey and Kiera did fine with the Enfamil Lipil but neither had reflux. So try it and if Lauren has problems just call the ped.
Please keep us updated. And tell Cary that we are all thinking of her.
A&A'smommy replied: I don't really have any advice just a thought... When Alyssa was born she was supposed to be breastfed and I said it was okay to supplement (stupid me) anyway they put her on lactose free enfamil and I was told that is was because it would make it easier for her to go to the breast....
I am SO sorry she is in the hospital please let us know whats wrong with her and send her our love (if you have time of course)!
Mommy2BAK replied: Oh no! Poor Cary, I hope she is better soon!
I BF my dughter (only 2 weeks) but after BF her I gave her Enfamil Lipil and it worked out fine.
DansMom replied: Poor Cary, she must be so upset right now I know nothing about formula, but it sounds like some others are able to give good advice. I agree that Cary is lucky to have parents like you to help out. That must be some comfort. I hope she kicks this virus or bug quickly.
momof2girls replied: Please keep us updated on Cary, she is in my thoughts!
paradisemommy replied: i exclusively bf but supplemented with enfamil lipil a couple times..he never had an adverse reaction but never really liked the taste either...
please tell cary we all send our prayers and positive thoughts her way..
and yes - she is very lucky to have wonderful parents (grandparents) like you both!
Josie83 replied: You've had some good advice . . . please let Cary know we are all thinking of her and we want her to be beter so son! xx
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Oh No! Please let Cary know we are thinking of her and send out some hugs as well.
I exclusively bfed Jade, but did supplement with Enfamil a few times in the beginning, and she seemed to do all right with it. However, she didn't have reflux. This post is really late so I hope that everything has gone well.
I am so glad that you guys are there. I hope she gets' to feeling better soon.
aspenblue1 replied: Poor Carey Ihope she feels better soon. I supplimented with Enfamil with Isabella who had reflux and she didn't have any problems.
coasterqueen replied: OMG! I hope you are ok Cary. I have no advice on formula either, sorry.
My p&pt's are with you.
ediep replied: oh no!!! Cary, I hope you are feeling better soon!!!!!
