The Rocket Fishing Rod~~Phsssss

Crystalina wrote: Evan got this today and he was so excited about it. He used it for 20 minutes and it broke. He never even dropped it or anything. You have to cock it back before you can launch it and the dang thing broke. DH is saying it must be a spring or something because it won't cock back. dry.gif For the price we paid it should not break. Not only that, it totally ruined the fishing trip because we did not have an extra child size pole and he was upset because he could no longer use it. Try giving a kid the one thing he's been "being extra good" for and then having to take it away because it no longer works.....20 minutes after opening it. growl.gif I told him I would return it and get him another (because I was on the spot and he was crying) but I'm sure it will only happen again.

Has anyone else had this and still have it working? I'm trying to figure out if I just got a dud or if I should just get my money back and forget it. mad.gif

Evan told me today that it broke his baby heart when his fishing pole broke. bawling.gif sleep.gif (He has the baby heart and I have the mommy heart. wub.gif )

Twelve Volt Man replied: Poor guy! That looks really cool.

redchief replied: I've never had one, but I have had things break right out of the box, so I know what kind of a disappointment that must have been for him. I hope the company is at least good on their product replacement warranty. I'm sorry the thing didn't hold up and messed up the fishing trip.

momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: I went online to see what kind of reviews it was recieving. Here are a few differnent sites for you to read the reviews from. I will let you make up your own mind as to what kind of product it is.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: sad.gif What a bummer, poor little guy that must have been upsetting for him.
Thanks for the review, dh thought it looked like something fun for Alex, not so much now that I hear it breaks so easily

Swood75 replied: I think if it were me I would judt get the $$ back..DH cousin got one for his little boy (5 yrs old) and it broke in no time also and his mom said it NEVER worked right from the start...I think they are a big waste of $$ but that is JMO..

My3LilMonkeys replied: A friend of ours got one for their son and it broke also after only a few uses.

Mommy2BAK replied: aww poor kid! sad.gif

Brias3 replied: We have it too and its a total dud. I'd go get your money back- that's what we did.

Crystalina replied: Great. dry.gif Thanks for the reviews. sad.gif How sucky. DH is just loving this because he was against it from the begining. He said there was no way it would hold up and it was a novelty and now he's totally loving the fact that he was right. rolleyes.gif I'm getting ready to return it and hopefully Evan can deal with it. He has no choice. sad.gif I feel like such a heel for buying it and having it break like that. First thing this morning he wanted to know if it was fixed yet (as if the cheap toy fairy came in the night emlaugh.gif ).

Calimama replied: Aww, poor guy. hug.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner has one and used it yesturday. It is still working and in one piece. The only complaint we had is that the bait makes the casting all goofy from what Troy said. Other than that it worked pretty well.

Boo&BugsMom replied: I'm kind of laughing at that first review..."it could take an eye out". Duh...it's a fishing rod...watch your kids when using it. laugh.gif

Crystal, I would take it back and get a new one. Walmart carries them, they will exchange pretty much anything with or without a reciept.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yeah, I agree, take it back to Walmart, they had a HUGE selection of kid sized fishing rods when I was there the other day. All kinds of cartoon characters.

kimberley replied: poor little man sad.gif sorry it didn't work out. it's a great idea if it held up. i'd want one lol.

Crystalina replied: Wal-Mart took it back with no problems at all. The lady said she wishes they would just take them off the shelf already because 85% of them have been returned since they started carrying them. We didn't even have to say anything. We walked up and put it on the shelf and she just smiled and said not a problem and started spilling her guts about how bad they are. rolling_smile.gif That was the easiest return ever.

We got him a regular pole because even with the character poles we had problems. Izabella has has 3 Barbie polls and Evan had a ScoobyDoo last year and by the time we keep replacing them it's just easier to get a small regular pole and they can grow into it. Izabella has a full size breast cancer awareness pole (it was pink and she was sold happy.gif ) and does great with it. It's an open-faced pole. The one we got Evan today was just a small size Shakespear.

luvmykids replied: Colt's been telling me about this...glad I didn't bother dry.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: very good that they took it back no questions asked thumb.gif
Now he can be a big boy and use a reg. pole wink.gif

Calimama replied:
I hope the new one holds up better. thumb.gif

jacobsmama replied: we also had one and had to return it! sad.gif

Glad you got a new one! Now his baby heart can beat again! emlaugh.gif He is so cute.

TheOaf66 replied: Tanner got one but it didn't break but it really isn't practical. When you're using bait it is hard to maneuver but the concept is cool

Crystalina replied:
That's what I think also. It's such a neat little thing but it needs some kinks worked out of it. I may buy another if it comes out "improved".

moped replied: We had something similar and it is crap honestly........I can't remember what Tom ended up getting Jack but I can ask him they name of it - much better than the first one

holley79 replied: Never even heard of those.
