The Itching is Driving Me BATTY!!!

Tamatha wrote: Ok, this is probably going to sound a little strange, but have any of you been battling itchy boobs?? Its like a constant thing for me, and I haven't found anything that helps!! Certainly scratching doesn't do much. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO CRAZY!!!! wacko.gif

~KARA~ replied: I know how you feel!!! Mine have been so itchy too. I just keep putting lotion on them and hope it stops soon!!

momma2emily replied: Mine weren't itchy while i was pregnant, but boy oh boy are they ever now lol! I constantly am rubbing lotion on them but it only helps for a few, i hope you find some kind of relief soon!

amynicole21 replied: I bet it's because they are growing. My belly has been itching like crazy lately! The only thing that helps is cocoa butter or shea butter (Palmers works best for me). Regular lotion won't do a thing for me. Hope it goes away soon!

PS - once I had a really horrible nipple itching problem and it turned out to be the material in my bra... maybe something to keep in mind wink.gif

Nicole replied: Hi ladies, I have never gotten itchy boobs while PG, but my sister did and she used Cocoa Butter she said it worked great!!!

Tamatha replied: Well, I've been using Palmer's, but apparently not enough! Will slather myself in that stuff... Will also change bras and see if that helps... I'm telling you, I'm about to go nuts! And if these girls get any bigger, so help me, I might have to have them amputated!! I've already grown from a 38B to a 40D, and I still have many moons to go... lol AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Tamatha replied: Ok, the itching woke me up last night, several times, and now I've broken out in rashes on my nipples, breasts, and sides. unsure.gif I think maybe its time to call the OB... lol I did a little research in my pregnancy books, and I'm wondering if this is PUPPP? Anyway... wish me luck!

smullin replied: baby.gif baby.gif Earlier in my pregnancy I got some exzema on my hand that hurt and itched so bad. The ob said it was from the hormones and that it is hard to take care of but make sure to put lots of lotion on. I bought this really nice lotion from Aveda salon and used it becasue it actually felt like I had done something when I put it on. Otherwise the other lotions just made it burn it hurt so bad. I don't know if this is what you are having or not but man it sucks. Hope it gets better for you.

amynicole21 replied: I had PUPPS with Sophia - does the rash look like little pimples? It was so bad with me that they induced. I would call your OB because they can give you a steroid shot. Nothing worked for me, but here is what they told me to try - 1% hydrocorisone cream (benedryl or something like it), oatmeal baths, calamine lotion. Try not to burst the blisters because it could get infected. I feel for you!! I am crossing my fingers every day that I don't get that again!

Tamatha replied: Well, I called the OB yesterday, and she wants to see me this Thursday instead of next week (at my regular checkup). In the meantime, she told me to start a regimen of Benadryl, which I can only take at night if I want to have any chance of acting reasonably normal during the day, and cortisone cream. Neither are doing much, but I'll continue with it just to say that I was compliant with doctor's orders. For now, it seems to not be spreading, but it still itches like the devil, and it is starting to burn. The bumps don't look so much like pimples as hives. So maybe this is allergy related?? I just don't know... I'll let you know what we find out...

boocoomomma replied: In addition to the creams, I would also get a 100% cotton bra. They breathe better and are just more comfy. Don't know if it will help, but it's worth a shot. Hope you get better soon.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I agree with Amy..... did you get it checked out?

Tamatha replied: So I saw the doctor yesterday... She checked heartbeat (156-160, my appt was during one of his active times) and measured my belly and said all of that looks good. Then I showed her my hives, and she was shocked! She almost looked horrified. And she had NO IDEA what it is! lol She said that she's never seen anything like it before, and she didn't quite know how to classify it. Apparently it LOOKS like a breast infection (mastitis??), but that should be painful and it shouldn't itch. Mine isn't painful, and it itches like the devil. She said it doesn't fit the profile for PUPPPs, because it didn't start on my belly. She noticed the bruising and broken blood vessels and asked me about it... I had to tell her it was from me digging myself so much... rolleyes.gif So she was kind of at a loss... She did prescribe a round of methylprednisolone and some prescription cream, and I do feel better today. I'm still a little itchy, but nothing like what I was. I'm hoping this is a sign of better things to come, because I'll go crazy if I have another 4 months of this!

In the meantime, I go back for my u/s (to look for his heart again and check low-lying placenta) and regular appt next week. She had me keep it so that she can check on the hives after the meds have done their thing. She mentioned that if I'm still not better by then, she'll probably refer me to a dermatologist. We'll see...

Anyway, thanks for all the support and suggestions! Let's hope this is the downhill side! smile.gif

amynicole21 replied: Well I'm glad she prescribed something! I hope it works. Hang in there!!

~KARA~ replied: I hope the meds work for you!!
