Taylor had to go to the doctor - yesterday....
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: Taylor started a fever on Thursday of last week. There is so much stuff going around (several viruses too) that we tried to let it run it's course. Yesterday I noticed a weird pattern on her neck and chest and I thought strep rash...She has had 4 strep infections but never had strep in her throat. I took her in and she has scarlet fever-which sounds scary but is just strep with a rash that is a reaction to the toxin that Strep produces. Strep always produces these toxins some people get the rash and some don't. She is on a LARGE dose of antibiotics. Poor baby! She was so good when they cultured her throat yesterday but she says it still hurts where they scraped her today
amynicole21 replied: Oh man. I hate strep Poor baby. I bet the meds will help her feel better very soon though.
mckayleesmom replied: I don't think I have ever had Strep and so far the kids haven't. Dh got strep the day I delivered Russell and he couldn't come back to my room for 24 hours...
I hope Tay feels better soon.
Calimama replied: Aw poor girl. I hope she's feeling better.
Cece00 replied: Poor thing I hope she feels better!
lisar replied: Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon.
luvmykids replied: Oh no! Poor Tay I'm sorry you have to deal with the rash on top of the other junk, I hope it all clears up quickly for her!
holley79 replied: I sure hope she is getting better and I sure hope you don't get it.
Kaitlin'smom replied: awww hope she feels better asap
coasterqueen replied: OMG!! Poor Taylor. I didn't think people got scarlet fever anymore. hug:
punkeemunkee'smom replied: OMG Karen I am so sorry I just tried to quote you and I hit the wrong button!
I know Karen it sounds like an illness from back in the 1800's or something but it is a reaction to the toxin that certain strains of strep make. Some people are 'allergic' to the toxin and get the rash...Sounded a lot scarier than it really is. The sunburn look is already fading and the skin around her nose is peeling so it should be on the way out Of course the doctor said I had some red spots in my throst and said I could make an appointment with their partner clinic since I probably have it too-Thanks buddy
coasterqueen replied: Well I'm glad it's not as bad as it sounds. Scarlet fever sounds scary, I know it was a lot more serious way back when.
I hope you don't get sick.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh no! I've never heard of the rash, so thanks for the info. Wesley tested postiive for strep last week. He is still on amox and getting better. Hope Taylor feels better soon! It's no fun!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: ACK!!!!
redchief replied: Aww, that stinks. I hope Taylor responds quickly to the medication and is feeling better soon.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Does jumping off the back of the couch landing in a rock star pose and singing (although rather raspy) Hannah Montanna mean she is feeling better? Do they store all the energy they would have used during a bout with illness?
MoonMama replied: Oh no, poor Tay. Sounds like she is starting to feel better.
kit_kats_mom replied: Aw, poor thing. I hope she's feeling better soon.
redchief replied: Stuff like that makes me want to be a kid again. I get sick and I'm worthless for at least a week. Taylor gets scarlet fever and she's doing acrobatics. WTG kiddo!
A&A'smommy replied: poor baby!!!! I hope she feel better soon!!!
