Tanner update

TANNER'S MOM wrote: Well he didn't get a happy face...he got a straight face yesterday.

She said he did make a 100 on his spelling pre test...so he didn't have to take it again.

But she said he got a ticket in PE...b/c he used his outside voice when they came in the hall...like he didn't decompress. lol

We talked last night about the straight face..and what it would take to make it a happy face..and what I expected from him.

He got to watch a little Tv last night b4 bed since he didn't make 100 in spelling the first time!

Am I on course Mom's or am I crazy. I worry and worry!

5littleladies replied: I think you are doing a great job! thumb.gif I think the idea for sending the faces home was a great idea-It really helps kids that age to have a visual to work with. smile.gif

mammag replied: You're doing fabulously Mel!!! That was a great idea.

mommy2owen replied: Great job! thumb.gif

amymom replied: thumb.gif great job!!

DansMom replied: I think he's a great kid and you're a great mom. I don't look forward to the difficulties of those public school years, but when I get there I hope I'll remember how you and other moms here handled these issues.

gr33n3y3z replied: you worry to much Mel smile.gif
Hugs to you bc you need it
You are doing a good Mel

redchief replied: Let me get this straight... Tanner got a straight face ONLY because he used his "outside voice" instead of his "inside voice?"

Okaaayyyy... My entire life would be made up of straight faces in that world.

JAYMESMOM replied: You are doing a great job!! It is okay to reward the good things even if there was a little bad that day.

b&bsmom replied: I don't know the whole story but from what I can tell your child is getting faces from school to let you know about the day. I have an almost 6yr old girl and she is still in pre-k last year I found out that she was having trouble with cirle time where she would fidget and kinda go off in her own world so we talked and I talked to the teacher and she would tell me if circle was good or bad and brittany would get a sticker for a good day and then when she got 10 stickers she got a reward. We did this for about a month and after the first week she started sitting in circle and has been fine ever since. You are so right to praise him for the good in his day and if the yelling was the only problem I think that is a good day. We can't expect it to be perfect everyday. Anyway I think you are doing the right thing and keep up the good work. I know I am going to need the help when we get to school. Great Job biggrin.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: Sounds like he's doing great, Mel! thumb.gif Yeah to you and Tanner!

MommyToAshley replied: Mel, I must have missed a post or two? Last I read was that the teacher wouldn't move him to the front and you had requested a meeting with the principal. Did that issue ever get resolved? Is he sitting in the front of the class so he can see now?

I have to agree that if the only thing he did wrong the entire day was to scream in the hall when coming in from outside, then I think he is doing excellent. I don't have a seven year old, but that sounds pretty typical to me.

I think you are doing great and sounds like Tanner is too. thumb.gif
